A few local tips:
Exmouth Market is a 10 minute walk from the apartment and well worth a visit. This is a much-loved and lively market street. It is a lovely place to meet a friend or take your laptop/book/newspaper and sit in any number of cafes and people-watch. At lunchtime food stalls assemble offering wonderful fresh hot and cold food from Italy, Spain, Morocco, India. A lovely fella called Jeremy runs a well-known, frequently written about coffee/music shop called Brill. A friendly, buzzy place where you can browse his serious music collection, ask questions about obscure albums or artists and Jeremy will have an answer or an opinion. His smoked salmon bagels are heaven! Across the road is very famous Spanish/Moroccan restaurant called Moro, a wonderful place to eat formally or just to (email hidden) and enjoy their delicious tapas and sherry. If you like Sebutio and Margueritas head for Kick Bar. Do not miss this street.
The charm and uniqueness of Airbnb is that it is people's homes that are on offer, so I just ask that you bear this in mind and respect that it is my home, and I enjoy and cherish everything in it. I want you to be able to relax and enjoy it too, so please just be considerate and treat it with care. All the flooring is wooden and doesn't do well with sharp heels or greasy stains.
The space is strictly non-smoking.
Please let me know about any damage, stains or breakages when they happen, so much better than 'discovering' these things :)
Lastly, you are sharing the building with 5 other apartments, all very nice neighbours, so please do limit noise and I ask that no parties are held in the apartment.
Our first Airbnb experience, and how lucky we were to find Siobhan. charming lady, charming flat. Secure, spacious, light, clean and bright. Very well equipped should one wish to cook, but with the amazing J & A cafe just 2 minutes away, serving the most scrumptious breakfasts and lunches... the lure of the homemade soda bread was just too great. After a full day sightseeing amongst the masses it was lovely to return to the relative peace of Clerkenwell. Super hot shower then 5 minute stroll to one of the good restaurants close by. Excellent French restaurant 'on the corner' and some interesting bars. Good transport links. No need for taxis. What can I say Siobhan except..thanks for sharing.
I had a marvelous stay in Siobhan's apartment. It is fantastic, just as described with the curved walls and the very unusual herringbone parquet flooring. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking and baking fantastic dishes. Many cool places in the neighborhood and you find a good Waitrose and an open late Tesco adjacent to the building. Siobhan is a very nice and friendly host and she kept in contact regularly during the stay.
We stayed in the apartment for a week and we loved it. The apartment has a unique feel, it is flooded with light, cosy and comfortable.
The neighborhood offers great dinning and wonderful cafes with the special chic of east London.
The walk from the apartment to Tate modern is a pleasure.
Siobhan herself is super helpful and caring.
I recommend this flat if you like as we do this part of London.
This was our first experience with airbnb. The flat is solid, secure and spacious. It has tall ceilings, herringbone floors and an elegant oval shaped salon. We started with Modern Pantry for a Sunday Brunch on the patio and finished with dinner at St John, just down the street. But our breakfast was always porridge with apples and cinnamon at J & A Café recommended by Siobhan. I enjoyed soaking in the iron bathtub after miles of walking, the Waitrose teas left in the cupboard and some British telly. I will have to return to read the interesting book selection.
I booked Siobhan's apartment for my parents to stay in for the weekend. It's a really beautiful place with lots of light and lovely features - the living room especially with it's large curved window is somewhere you could spend a lot of time in happily. The location is brilliant - close to town as well as a multitude of good restaurants and cultural spaces. My parents have asked if they can stay there every time they come to visit.
Siobhan's apartment is a charming and a well located apartment to explore London. Well decorated and artistic, next to the Barbican underground station and really close to supermarkets, starbucks, cafes and restaurants. Siobhan's was really kind and friendly the hole time. She welcome us in our check-in and she gave us good tips about the city and good places to know.
The communication with her was great, I didn't have a phone number in London, so everything that my friends and I needed to ask her was through e-mail, and she replyed in only a few minutes. :)
My family and I had a lovely stay in Siobhan's apartment. There was ample room for the four of us (2 adults and 2 children). We appreciated the well-equipped kitchen and comfy furniture. It was also wonderful to be able to do our laundry during our stay. The location of the apartment was very central and we were so happy to be able to come home and relax after a busy day around London. Thank you Siobhan for being a great host!
About the Host, Siobhan
I live in funky Clerkenwell, central London... often called the Manhattan of London. What turns me on? oil painting, drawing, good cinema, good theatre and good live music and spending many happy hours looking at art! I have a wonderful posse of very beloved friends and there is nothing finer than hanging about with them.. preferably whilst eating!... good food... of course!
I like to take myself away on silent retreats every so often to remind myself of the Great Peace that is so often hidden amongst all the frantic 'doing' - just 'being' is so lovely.
As a guest/companion I am respectful, sensitive, clean and careful and funny...(so i'm told!)... nothing like a good giggle.
Cup half full kinda gal! :)
