Instant Book this queen room in a bungalow in beautiful, neighborhood close to trendy Hollywood and Beaumont districts. Very easy access to downtown and other areas. Free parking on the street. Use of all rooms, wifi, yard, deck, piano.
My home is in a quiet, safe neighborhood in Northeast Portland. I keep the front door unlocked so that guests may come and go without having to use a key. I have locks on the bedroom doors. Some people are very disturbed by the fact that I don't lock the front door. So, if that bothers you please don't reserve this room. I have lived here for 9 years and have had absolutely no problems with anyone coming in here that is not supposed to. My house is close to 2 happening areas with easy access to many other areas and downtown.
This listing is for the queen room, since I have 2 listings. There is a twin bedroom across the hall, also for rent through Airbnb. When both rooms are rented at the same time, the bathroom will be shared. There is a sleep number bed in the queen room. Each side can be adjusted for the firmness you like.
There is a large kitchen for your use, a bathroom, living room, piano room, wifi, beautiful backyard with a deck, and a front porch. There is also a washer and dryer for your use while you are here.
In the kitchen there is a coffee machine, an electric pot for heating water,a blender, toaster and toaster oven. There is plenty of cabinet and frig. space for your food if needed. There will be eggs or oatmeal for you to have for breakfast, along with some juice and coffee or tea.
There are 3 major bus lines within 2 blocks of the house; one that goes directly downtown, a 15 minute ride. There are also 2 train connections after a 5 minute bus ride. The train and/or bus will take you to the convention center, downtown, the airport and many other places in about 15-25 minutes. The bus stop is 2 1/2 blocks from my house. The drive to downtown is 10 minutes and 10-15 minutes to the airport. There is no airplane noise. There is street parking in front of the house. It is plentiful and free.
You do not need to get my approval to rent the room. You may instant book. There is no need to inquire first if the room is available. Airbnb does not let you inquire about certain dates unless they are already available.
I will do everything I can to make your visit comfortable and pleasant.
There will be extra taxes added on to he room fee due to the city and county that I live in. It amounts to 12.5% extra. So be aware!
Guests will have access to the whole house and yard except for my bedroom and bathroom in the basement. I leave the front door unlocked so guests may enter without me having to be here. I rent out more than one room at a time, so using keys can be a problem if somebody locks somebody else out. You also lose a lot of keys that way. Some people think I should lock my front door like everybody else does. But I have found that in four years of doing Airbnb, my system is working very well. I have locks on the bedroom doors.
Interaction with guests
I interact with my guests as much or as little they like. I am a fun loving, open minded 60 something and I love to have people in my home and brag about Portland. I am happy to help you find where you want to go and offer suggestions. I give piano lessons in the afternoons and some mornings. Some are in the home. You may come and go as you please when I am teaching.
This neighborhood is very safe with plenty of beautiful homes and gardens. There is plenty of street parking with no meters. There are families out at play and walking around. Close by are several brew pubs and many shops and restaurants all within walking distance. I am in the Beaumont neighborhood, close to the Hollywood district. Many places are within walking distance, with easy bus lines to the areas that aren't, like Mississippi, Alberta and Hawthorne to name a few.
There are 3 major bus lines within 2 blocks of the house. There is also a lite rail connection close by in Hollywood and on 60th Ave. The buses will take you anywhere you need to go in Portland in about 15 minutes. You can easily get to the Alberta Arts district, Hawthorne Street, Mississippi Ave, the Pearl and downtown; all within 15 -30 minutes on public transportation. You can look up tri met in Portland on the computer and it will plan any short or long trip you want to take.
Other things to note
There will be a note on the dresser explaining the rules of the house when you are here. I cover all the bases right down to the compost bin. I do not use keys or lock the front door, however there are locks on the beddroom doors. I am flexible on check in times if you need to get here earlier than the posted 1pm, as well as check out times if you need to leave your things here after the 11am time.
I would expect that guests and myself are quiet after 11pm and before 8am. That does not mean you must be home; only quiet to allow others to sleep.
It will be expected that if you rent the room, you are the only one sleeping in it. You may bring a guest in to show him/her your space, but not to stay for an extended period of time.
Careful use of utilities is appreciated; lights and fans turned off when not in use and no windows open in the wintertime.
Only eat for what is for breakfast and don't use it for any other meal.
In the winter, the storm door needs to be kept closed tightly.
I expect guests to clean up after themselves in the kitchen, including the coffee maker.
I just expect common courtesy, responsibility and kindness.
Also, there is no smoking in or within 25' of home outside. Thank you.
I am a single woman, who teaches piano for a living. I also drive for Uberr and Lyft so I'm rarely at home in the early mornings. I am fun loving, easy going and open minded. I love interacting with my guests and helping them when they want it. However, I will not intrude. When not teaching piano, I drive, garden and explore Portland. There are many interesting neighborhoods and places to eat and drink.
Occasionally I travel to visit family in Illinois, California and England.
If you come and stay here, I will be able to point you in the right direction to many different places to enjoy in Portland. I have lived here for over 10 years and continue to find it fascinating. Before living here I lived in southern California for 13 years, Wisconsin for 15 years and the Chicago area for 40 years. I am one of six kids and have 2 grown children of my own and 2 granddaughters who are one of the lights of my life. I was born and raised in Evanston, IL and am a Midwesterner at heart.
