Great location

Guests who stayed here in the past year loved the location.
Welcome to Blue Tin Ranch, an event venue loffering unique stays! The chicken coop is considered glamping.

When booking this listing you will be treated to our renovated chicken coop. The coop was trailered over from our grandpa's farm, and converted to an Airbnb/summer kitchen!

You will have two bedrooms, a living area and a kitchenette all to yourself.

Shared bathrooms are only a short walk away. Hang out in the coop or explore all the property has to offer!
Chickens not included

The space
Welcome to the chicken coop. Originally built in the 50's for housing chickens, the building withstood the test of time and South Dakota winters. In 2008 we hauled the coop over to Blue Tin Ranch (5 miles away) and began work on making it livable again. This last winter we added two bedrooms and really worked to make it a home.

You are in a small building in the backyard of a larger property. We have the main house, the guest house, and lots of farm buildings! You are welcome to hang out in the corn crib swings, the gazebo, and anywhere outside!

The bathrooms and running water are a short walk (40 feet) away and **are in a different building.**

The chicken coop is considered Glamping. You will enjoy soft, clean and comfortable beds, a refrigerator, microwave and Keurig. A solid roof over your head. You may also encounter a bug, a bit of dust and a random cobweb. But the trade off is shelter from any storms, not having to pack up all the camping gear in the morning and a hot shower!!

Guest access
We have tons for you to do!
The Gravity wagon basketball game, the Corn Crib Swings with fire pit, yard games like corn hole and yardzee, and an enchanted path leading to a romantic gazebo, perfect for sunsets or star gazing.

Other things to note
The chicken coop itself does not have running water. We do have a shower, toilet and sink in the bathroom area. Bathroom facilities are just a short walk across the driveway.

GooglMaps, Applemaps, and Waze might take you to the middle of the cornfield! Instead, try searching in Blue Tin Ranch. Look for the big iron gates that say BTR!

This property is shared! We live here, and rent out two other buildings on Airbnb! Everyone is happy to share the wonderful amenities we have to offer!

How many people can say they spent the night in a chicken coop! We offer a very unique property and overnight stay. While we do everything in our power to keep the coop in pristine condition, in the end it is a very old building and you may encounter a random lady bug in the fall, a fly in the summer or maybe even a spider in the corner.

Neighborhood highlights

You will be staying on a 10 acre farmstead! surrounded on all sides by either corn or beans (depending on the year) and just minutes from Burbank Beach!

We are in the beautiful Missouri River Valley area and are able to see both Nebraska and Iowa from the property!

In addition to being absolutely beautiful, we also enjoy a rich history. The Lakota, Dakota and Yankton Sioux Tribes were the original stewards of this land, the Lewis and Clark Expedition passed less than a mile from where you're staying and so much more. We are also quite passionate about agriculture and showing people from all over the world where their food comes from, sustainable farming practices and really, rural life in general!

Come enjoy all this land has to offer.
