Beautiful fully-furnished and self-sufficient second-floor century apartment in Montreal's hippest neighbourhood, Mile End. For the full Montreal experience, you don't want to be downtown (yet all the festival action is 15 mins away by metro).
Apartment is furnished in good taste and with respect for the style of the building, which boasts original moldings, hardwood floors and lots of light. There is a brand-new king size bed in master bedroom, a brand-new Queen size bed in bedroom 2, and a third bedroom has a comfy Queen sofa bed and also a crib for 6 months + baby. All beds are equipped with high thread-count linens and pillows. There is also a well-equipped kitchen. fully renovated bathroom, fibre optic cable, wifi, dishwasher, washer/dryer and first-day breakfast bagels from Montreal's famous St-Viateur bagel, 1 block away!
Balconies in front and back (propane BBQ incl). Bright sunny summer days and cool airy nights. Lots of space to settle in! (Smoking permitted on balconies).
The apartment is situated in Montreal's most desirable neighbourhood. Mile End is the setting for many of Mordecai Richler's novels, and is now a mix of ultra-hip bars and tasty restaurants on the main street one block away. Also, you'll be close to all amenities: Groceries, liquor store, drugstores, depanneurs, post office. You're connected to the rest of the city with bus lines and BIXI (shared bikes) mere steps away. The metro (Rosemont) is a five-minute walk.
The place was great, well located in the Mile-End. The apartment had everything we needed and was well suited for our party.
We had a wonderful stay at Melora's apartment. The home was just as pictured- lovely, large, very clean and comfortable. Melora was quick to respond to any questions I had and key pickup was uncomplicated and convenient. The neighbourhood quiet and we had a wonderful time enjoying the nearby restaurants and bars- Le Nouveau Palais on Bernard had amazing perogies on the late night menu, St-viateur Bagel and Fairmont were great, as usual. I would definitely recommend checking out the well-known bookstore Drawn and Quarterly as well.
The 7 of us stayed in Melora's flat in Mile End when we visited Montreal with our families: two couples, two kids under age 2 and grandad. It was terrific to be able to all stay under the same roof! We had ample space for everyone, with us and the baby sleeping in the giant, super comfy master bed, grandad on the futon and the toddler in the crib sharing a room, and the other couple in the 3rd, wonderfully sunny bedroom. We were thankful to have a dishwasher and laundry in the suite and plenty of linen for everyone.
Melora was kind enough to provide us with 2 fans but we only needed them a few times because the apartment is so breezy when the doors and windows are open. Our questions were answered promptly and the house-sitter downstairs was very helpful in providing us with what we needed. When the internet broke, she had the technician come the next day and kept us posted on developments.
Those travelling with kids or the elderly might find it helpful to know that the stairs up to the place are pretty steep and narrow and are quite daunting. Also, if you plan on using the car a lot like we did, know that parking on the street is not exactly over abundant and had me spending sometimes up to 20 minutes a day circling looking for parking, and having to end up leaving the car a few streets away and having to put the kids in the stroller to take them to and from the car.
Otherwise, it was a great stay and I would definitely recommend Melora's flat to anyone visiting Montreal.
Melora's place made us feel at home for a week in Montreal. She was a great host, responding immediately to all questions we had. This is a spacious appartement, well equipped, very clean, in a nice neighbourhood with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Free parking is available right in front, but ask a local for the somewhat complex rules Montreal has for parking (though metro via two nearby stations is a good alternative to driving )
We had a great stay at Melora's place. Our two small families shared the flat, which was large enough for all of us to be comfortable. The neighborhood's parking rules were confusing at first but manageable, and the place was within easy walk of public transportation. Terrific location with grocery shopping and great restaurants within easy walking distance. And a great little back deck!
Wow, what a place! Perfect location to get to know Montréal, great shopping and dining within very close walking distance. Melora was very easy to communicate with and helped us clear up our misunderstood WiFi instructions via text in real-time (i.e., replies within seconds). Unfortunately we did not get a chance to meet but I could tell she is a stand-up person through and through. Highly recommended!
We loved staying at Melora's place. She is a great host - friendly, helpful, and relaxed. The house is large, beautiful, and well appointed. The neighborhood is amazing - cute streets, great atmosphere, lots to do, and close to public transportation.
