The space

Designed by eminent Edwardian architect Edgar Wood, the Parsonage House at Thurlstone in South Yorkshire is a delightful Grade II listed family home dating from 1906, situated in a beautiful and unpeaceful corner of South Yorkshire. I have spent more than a decade restoring the property to its original splendour, creating a stylish but relaxed atmosphere, ideal for both entertaining and unwinding.
A spacious building with private garden overlooking the neighbouring Thurston Parish Church and with views extending towards Woodhead Pass - Tourist Board 5 Star Rating.
The house makes a perfect location for reunions, family gatherings and those attending a wedding. [NOTE - the maximum number to seat round the dining table is 10 and a better number is 8 and whilst the house can sleep 16, this is 9 in beds and the additional 7 are sofa beds and beech slat guest beds.] The Parsonage House is also ideally located for walkers wishing to explore either Derbyshire's Peak District or the spectacular Yorkshire Moors and Dales, while lovers of historic architecture will find many celebrated properties, including Castle Howard, Chatworths House, Brodsworth Hall, Haddon and Hardwick all within easy driving distance. In addition, the village of Haworth, home of the Bronte sisters and now one of the world's most famous centres of literary pilgrimage is just one of many other attractions. Although most visitors are expected to arrive by car, the Parsonage House is also easily accessible by public transport, with a regular train and bus service to Penistone and full bus link from there to Thurlstone. For relaxing at the end of the day, the Hunstman Pub, just a short walk from the Parsonage House in the centre of Thurlstone, in a well-known real ale house, while in Penistone there is a full range of restaurants, including traditional English, Italian and Indian. Penistone even boasts its own cinema, the Paramount, which screens all the latest movie releases and also hosts local drama companies. The Paramount is also extremely well known as the home of one of Britain's few surviving fully-working cinema organs.

A perfect venue for a family get together to celebrate a 90th birthday with 10 adults and 1 five year old. Flexible sleeping arrangements, all on comfortable beds. Fantastically equipped kitchen which we could all eat in. Care needs to be taken with expensive period furnishings. Great Sunday lunch at "The Huntsman" (which takes cash or cheques only, no cards)

Response from Jonathan:
This listing was cancelled due to severe ill health. There was a possibility that everything would be resolved and the reservation would go ahead however, the guest, who was informed and fully consulted throughout, thought it best I cancel so they could try and find somewhere else to stay.

We had our humanist wedding ceremony at Jonathan's house and can not say how wonderful it was. A perfect setting for us and our guests. We were blessed with the best weather we've had so far this year which only added to the beauty of the garden and the house. Thank you so much for our stay.

Response from Jonathan:
Whilst the house is very popular with groups attending weddings at venues near by, this is the first time the garden and house were used for an actual ceremony. It was a great feeling knowing a couple had started their married life at my home.

This is a lovely place to stay. Very clean and comfortable accommodation. We're a musical family so really enjoyed a singsong around the piano. Our stay was well organised by the host and everything was as stated. We were happy to be accommodated as a large family group for one night at a busy time of year. We would recommend The Parsonage to family and friends.

I have been letting out the places I live in for the last twenty five years. It's important to me that guests can relax and enjoy the modern comforts of this apartment whilst sampling the delights of all that central London has to offer.
