This is our premium room with lovely furnishings, a eurostyle double bed, premium linens and towels, a private three piece bathroom, flatscreen TV/cable, WiFi, desk and walk in closet. It's perfect for a romantic weekend or an indulgent getaway.
The Garden House is located in the heart of Toronto's historical Parkdale Village. It is
a vibrant and eclectic neighbourhood. And in case you missed it, Vogue magazine has
just named west-Queen-west one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world—REALLY!
((website hidden)(phone number hidden)-coolest-street-style-neighborhoods/)
We are a traditional Bed and Breakfast guest house, as opposed to a hostel or apartment
rental. We have recently been awarded ‘SUPERHOST’ status on airbnb and are
thrilled our B and B has been so acknowledged.
We have a number of guest rooms, each with a different personality to suit your individual needs and each accommodating two people. The 'St. Germaine' has a double bed with private 3-pce bath from $120.00/night; the 'Marais' has a queen bed with shared bathroom facilities from 90.00/night; the 'Tuileries' has a double bed with shared bathroom facilities from $80.00. 'Le Suite' is a large suite with private 3-piece bath and kitchenette from $125.00/night. There is a charge of $20.00 for additional guests. Monthly rates are available for long term stays from October to April.
We provide a lovely self catered daily breakfast including coffee, teas, juices, cereals, yogurt, preserves, etc., various breads and bagels, plus fresh home made baked goods, fresh fruit and tropical fruit salad. We also provide two hot breakfast entrees including bacon, eggs, sausages, omelettes, quiche, pancakes and/or French toast.
Also, we have a wonderfully serene back garden (hence, the name) – many guests have said its like a home-away-from-home where you can enjoy your morning coffee, an afternoon glass of wine or even lay out in the sun.
We are in a great location, conveniently close to all major public transportation, great restaurants, bars, art galleries and only a short walk to the Lakeshore bike/jogging path.
Toronto is one of the best cities in the world and we love to host visitors to our city. We are avid travelers; we understand the elements of an excellent holiday -- and accommodation is a key factor.
We look forward to the opportunity to be your hosts !!
Alan & Patricia
IMPORTANT please note: We have FOUR separate guest rooms which each accommodate TWO people.
Allan and Patricia are welcoming hosts. The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfasts were fresh and delicious and we were always welcomed with a cheery "Good Morning." The neighbourhood is a wonderful mix of heritage residential, restaurants and retail. WE enjoyed our stay at The Garden House. Doug and Dorial
The location was perfect - 20 minutes from the airport - 20 minutes from downtown - 5 minute walk to spectacular restaurants - 2 minute walk to Queen St. and all the fun of that environment. The house was wonderful - comfortable, beautiful, functional, quiet.
And the breakfasts? whoa - so much care and variety offered in the food and drink. Do not miss the back garden. It is spectacular - and so welcoming and relaxing. The whole experience was ideal.
But best of all was the hospitality - Patricia and Alan were not only kind, very helpful, and considerate, but they were great fun to talk with - rich life histories that made the easy and meaningful conversations fascinating. It felt like a visit with old friends.
Do not miss the opportunity to stay at the Garden House - I am confident you will be pleased if you go there.
(And no - I am not an old friend, family member, or other form of shill to write glowing commentary. Just a very satisfied customer who sees little value in being subtle or understated when happy with a product or service.)
Pat and Alan are wonderful hosts and their queen bed rooms are quite large and comfortable. I have stayed with them many times now and each time they are delightful and the rooms are bright, airy, and feel like home. They have two chairs for sitting in their front porch/alcove, and a beautiful garden out back that I have spent many an evening in.
There is an in-residence cat, who is very lovely as well - she is friendly and does not seem to shed too much - i've never seen a stray fur anywhere there!
Parking is street parking but plentiful - you do need to get a temporary permit online (~$21/wk).
Continental breakfast including tea/coffee, milk, yogurt, cereals, hard boiled eggs, toast, bagels, and quite often muffins made by Pat and Alan (yum!).
Although they indicated it was available in a window unit, I did not need air conditioning any time I stayed there in the summer (38 C/ 98 F!) - the big old house has massive walls that keep cool air in.
Pat and Alan are often around and quite friendly to talk about - both have had fascinating careers in media so have great stories!
The neighbourhood is a tree-lined street just south of Queen, where there are good restaurants (even tibetan! but also some great 'canadian cuisine' and healthy choices as well). The neighbourhood is an 'up and coming' neigbourhood - I have felt very safe there at any time of day or night. Neighbours are very quiet so you can actually hear birds chirping in the morning!

We are Alan and Patricia.... proud, longtime residents of Parkdale Village in Toronto. We have seen the neighbourhood grow into the most fascinating and artistic central hub of our city. The Garden House is a historic manor house that we have renovated to reflect the growing sophistication of the 'hood.
Vacations and getaways are our specialty -- we are avid travellers and have lived throughout Canada. We know the meaning of good quality service and hospitality which is what we strive to bring you.
We want you to experience the Toronto that we fell in love with over twenty years ago. By staying at our B&B you can live a true Torontonian weekend, week, month (or however long!) hosted by excellent and knowledgable city dwellers.
