Interaction with Guests
When we rent the flat we usually stay nearby, will not share the space with our guests but are only a phone call away. When we are out of town, we provide contact information for assistance as needed.
Our neighborhood is safe, friendly and central to public transportation, boutique shopping, hip restaurants, pubs, and nightclubs. Within just a few blocks you'll find German, Italian, Japanese, French, Mediterranean, Thai and Soul food. Hayes Valley is full of boutique shops, cafes and playgrounds for the children to enjoy.
We are just 2 blocks from most major bus lines that will take you to Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf, Haight-Ashbury, the Castro and the Mission neighborhoods. The BART system is also close by. Getting around the city from our flat is a breeze!
We also have bikes and helmets for rent for $25/day if you want to explore SF like a local!
PARKING: Just like any large city, parking can be a challenge. There are several parking garages that charge $20-45/night throughout town, the closest is Civic Center Garage. Generally in residential neighborhoods there is free 2 hour parking unless you have a resident parking sticker issued from the city. Our best advice, however, is to forget the car and immerse yourselves in our city on foot. San Francisco is one of the best places in the US to explore on foot and by bus. You don't need a car.
Other Things to Note
The guest bedroom includes unique design touches and original art we're sure you'll enjoy. We provide plush robes, bath sheets and hand towels for your comfort and convenience. We finish to room with local chocolates on your pillow by Littlejohn's - a SF based company owned by a friend-to give you the full SF boutique hotel experience. The guest room is stocked with maps, tour books and local publications to help you plan your daily adventures. We provide breakfast pastries, granola, yogurt, fruit, coffee and juice for our guests. We also provide shampoo, conditioner and body wash for the shower. Forgot something at home? No problem! Just ask and we will be happy to help.
Not much in the way of rules but we do have a few requests. Please dont leave our door unlocked or ajar at any time- the door blows open and leaves our home vulnerable to theft. Laundry facilities are available but no loads after 10 P.M. Out of courtesy for our downstairs neighbor. Check out is at 11:00 AM but if you need to leave luggage here after that time it isn't a problem for us to hold it for you- just please have it all packed (you'd be surprised at some who haven't!). The fire pit is only operated by us upon request. We are happy to light it for our guests but request that they not attempt to work it independently due to safety concerns.
The kitchen and bar are without restrictions. If you cook in our kitchen, please clean up after yourselves. The same goes for all of the common areas, particularly the bathroom. We like to keep our home looking beautiful to enhance your experience and ours.
The guest room accommodates 2 comfortably. We do not allow additional guests (with the exception of infants that sleep in the room with the parents) except when the entire flat is rented out. When the entire flat is rented, it accommodates up to 6 guests.
Please, no smoking indoors. The patio is a lovely place to enjoy a smoke if you choose. We've made every attempt to make it comfortable and visually satisfying to please our guests.
That's pretty much it for house rules. Thank you for your interest in our home.
Parlor sectional transforms to a queen bed when the whole flat is rented. This becomes a fully private sleeping space with a marble fireplace
About the Host, Allison
We are a nice couple who work in Emergency Medicine in San Francisco. With such intense jobs, we understand the extremes of human experience and behavior. We've also been together for many years and are still very much in love with one another. We have a diverse community of friends who enrich our lives on many levels.
We're down to earth, enjoy entertaining, cooking, art, hiking, concerts and photography among other things. We love adventure and travel and enjoy meeting new people. We also enjoy nesting at home and our home reflects our diverse interests and keen value for comfort and beauty.
We're long-time Burners, too, so we have a creative spirit to us and a strong sense of community and social responsibility. People often describe us as being very open, warm and accepting. I think it's probably true, as you will be greeted with a hug and a smile (and, sometimes, cookies!) and will often feel like you're visiting long-time friends.
We've lived in the Bay Area for 10+ years after re-locating from the East Coast. We love our city and are eager to show it off.
We look forward to meeting you!
