This charming, historic house features tin ceilings, original hardwood floors, many large south-facing windows, a large shower, solid oak kitchen cabinets made by a local craftsman, off-street parking, and a wooded yard to relax in. It's within easy walking distance of a cafe, craft brewery, community garden, natural foods store, yoga studio, and many unique, local craft shops. Norway is surrounded by abundant outdoor opportunities, including skiing, swimming, hiking, biking, and boating.

The space
This Airbnb includes the entire downstairs living area of the house, which consists of a full kitchen, dining room, living room, full bathroom, and bedroom. There is plenty of parking space in the driveway, on the lawn, and on the street. Two sides of the yard are surrounded by a 6 foot fence, creating a semi-private outdoor space where guests are welcome- It's a small but welcoming yard with some projects in the works. The house owner (myself, Rocky) lives upstairs, uses a separate entrance on the street side of the house, and can most often be found working at the local community garden during the summer. You might cross paths with me in the yard but I respect the privacy of my guests and won't generally reach out to you during your stay unless there's a specific reason. That said, I love to meet people so please don't hesitate to approach me or contact me during your stay.

Where you’ll be

Norway, Maine, United States

Built upon the edges and streams of Norway Lake (Lake Pennesseewassee), the town of Norway was once devastated by an epic fire, was home to a historic snowshoe factory, a corn processing facility and lumber yards, and has a fascinating history available for the interested traveler. Recently the downtown area has seen significant revitalization efforts, and the nearby lakes and ponds offer the kind of water access that should be part of any Maine vacation. This Airbnb is located in the heart of the historic downtown area, providing easy walking distances to local businesses. To access the abundant natural beauty of our surrounding area you can expect to use your vehicle. Our neighborhood is generally very quiet with little traffic, although we do hear daytime traffic from Main Street and the occasional motorcycles and cars with muffler modifications to make them louder. We have noted "potential for noise" in our description because it is such a vague option, how could we not? But by most anyone's standards, this is a very quiet neighborhood.

Also, this is a newly listed Airbnb in 2022. All reviews older than 2022 refer to different Airbnb that I shared with Katey.

I am an 11th generation Mainer living in the town where I grew up enjoying the natural beauty of the Western Foothills. I like to cross-country ski, hike, work outdoors, and create a welcoming space for my guests.

During your stay

I live on the second floor of the house. I am available if needed but otherwise will not typically approach guests unless we cross paths in the yard or around town. I'm always happy to hear from guests if they need something to make their stay in Norway enjoyable.
