It is an easy walk to get paper, coffee, or breakfast in the town and yet also close to the ocean.
There is a bus which makes twice daily trips to Portland which stops a block away. The bus has a bike rack.
Thomas had the place well organized and tidy for us when we arrived. It was great to kick back relax after a long drive. The cottage as a great spot for us to check out the many state parks (Ecola, Oswald, and Cape Meares) as well as the towns of Seaside, Manzinita and Cannon beach. the hot tub was perfectafter our surf days too. We will be back.
Dad and his two kids.
This is a lovely cabin! Quiet, clean and cozy. Was perfect for a weekend retreat. The sun was shining the whole weekend so spent a lot of time at the beach which is just a few blocks away. Will definitely come back someday.
Thomas left a bottle of Charles Shaw White Zinfindel,a few pieces of salt water taffy and a package of coffee, and two wine glasses which had been painted on the outside and on the rim, very cute, although I wasn't comfortable drinking out of a glass with paint on the rim. The neighborhood was quiet and the unit was OK. Honestly, it could use a deep cleaning. The bathroom fixtures where clean, the shower was very clean, but there are places that really need more attention. The bathroom fan needs cleaning and there is a piece of foil stuck in a hole in the floor around the hoses of the washer, but it doesn't cover the hole completely. The place is nice, just maybe a little awkward, it needs a cleaning, there were cobwebs all over the house numbers as you walk into the door, and maybe the outside could use some sprucing up. I wouldn't be comfortable letting my kids sleep in the "2nd bedroom". It has a water heater right at the head of the bunk beds(which was shown in the photo) but it also has cleaning supplies stored in it on open shelving, it smells chemically and may pose a problem depending on your kids. Also the window blind is broken and falling apart. I like to sleep with more than one pillow , and forgot to bring extra, so I got some from the bunk beds, one of the pillows had fallen down behind the headboard. It just didn't have a clean feeling to it, although the major surfaces seemed clean. Apparently, the cleaning person is only there for the length of one laundry cycle, that may be OK for some things but, really, not enough to leave guests feeling comfortable in their surroundings. We didn't use the hot tub so I can't review it, it was in a cramped little area on the side of the house, just not inviting enough for us. we could only get one channel to work on the TV, but we didn't need to watch it anyway. There was some mold growing on the bedroom windowsill, which could be easily cleaned. Only one side of the bed had a nightstand, little things that add up to a feeling of a nice try, but this needs a few adjustments and a deep cleaning, it has a lot of potential! Oh, you may want to bring some wood stove supplies, it's a very functional wood stove, I don't think it was set up to light a fire upon arrival, which would have been a nice touch, but there was some half burnt wood in there and some pieces of a brown bag, not quite enough to get it going, but we did eventually succeed and the warmth was fabulous. There doesn't seem to be anything terribly wrong here, it just needs a little help, and if you know what to expect you won't be disappointed here, it's quiet, and close to the...
We had a wonderful time. Perfect place for our anniversary. Glad we read the reviews on the low ceilings so my very tall husband was prepared to duck a lot. But he didn't mind. Thanks again. We will use your place again for sure.
The cabin was just as it is described in the listing! Close to everything in Rockaway, including the beach! The place is perfect for 2 adults and a couple of smaller humans. Wifi worked great. Apple TV was hooked up and ready to go! I'd come back again!
We had a great time here! Thomas left a wonderful welcoming package that was very enjoyable and helpful. The place was quiet, clean, and a wonderful place to make your little home for a few days! The deck would be fantastic in the summer, and the hot tub was a real treat. We drove to Garibaldi for fresh seafood off the docks and it was amazing - would highly recommend doing that.
