Our comfortable one-bedroom cottage has a fun sleeping loft and reading nook upstairs. Convenient for Memorial Hospital and Olympic Training Ctr visitors needing short-term lodging.

The Space

We're located near downtown Colorado Springs with a partial view of the Rocky Mountains. You'll have the entire cottage to yourself: one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a nicely-equipped kitchen, including a gas stove. The sleeping loft upstairs comes with two twin air mattresses and linens. We feel the cottage can accommodate up
to 4 adults, if two people are comfortable sleeping on air mattresses in the sleeping loft and the four of you don't mind sharing the bathroom.

You can put your feet up in the living room and use the flat-screen TV. Or hang out in the loft reading nook. The front porch is a nice place to enjoy a beer or glass of wine in the afternoons, or just relax and watch the birds and squirrels play.

There's much to do in the Colorado Springs area We're a block away from Boulder Park and three blocks from Memorial Park. Just down the street from the US Olympic Training Center and within 5 - 20 minutes of miles of trails and open space, Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs and Old Colorado City shopping, downtown Colorado Springs, United States Air Force Academy, and other don't-miss sites.

We're about 2.5 - 3 hours from several ski resorts. Other easy day trips could include the Royal Gorge, white water rafting, or a trip to the summit of Pikes Peak.

We stock your fridge with some basic breakfast supplies, there's a Walmart and Safeway nearby and a local, organic grocery store a 10-minute drive away. Many restaurants and shopping areas are just a few minutes away.

Guest Access

While you're here you'll have access to flat-screen TV, wifi, convenient parking, and anything in the cottage including books, DVDs, etc.

Interaction with Guests

Our goal is to make you as comfortable as possible and that includes how much you'd like to interact with us. We'll be available for information, recommendations or we'd be glad to show you some of our favorite trails and things around our beautiful city to see. You'll have our phone number - don't hesitate to call.

Please note: Reviews from March 2014 and after are for the cottage. The reviews from earlier are from our previous listing for a different house. While the location is different the level of quality hosting has not changed!

The Neighborhood

One of the best things about the neighborhood is that you'll get a real view into life in Colorado Springs. We're far enough away from the tourist areas for you to feel truly at home, but close enough to enjoy all the sites people from all over the world come to visit. We're situated between two parks and about a 25-minute walk from downtown restaurants, bars and other fun things to do and see.

Getting around

We're just a block away from a bus stop. The bus routes cover a large portion of the area of the city we're in - we'd recommend searching online for the city bus routes if this is important to you. Otherwise, there is plenty of room for you to bring a car.

We look forward to meeting you!

  • Val and Brenda were out of town when we arrived. The house was clean and well-stocked with some breakfast foods, chocolates and salad fixings. Brenda checked in with us by email. The house is lovely, comfortable and well-kept. We enjoyed the quiet, the warmth and the sense of space.

  • I stayed here with my mom and sister while in town for the Pikes Peak Marathon. Everything was great! Brenda and Val are excellent hosts, friendly without being pushy, very interesting to talk to. The house is very nicely furnished and comfortable, and we really appreciated the goodies that had appeared on the table every time we came back to the house. We LOVED Buddy, he was great. This house is in a great location, easy (and scenic) drive to Manitou and also an easy drive to downtown. This was my first experience with ever and I will absolutely do it again. Thanks, Brenda and Val!

  • We had a great time with Val and Buddy (his 8 yr old Lab) last week. Brenda was not in town and we missed meeting her. Val was a great host and the space in their house was perfect for our little family. My 3 yr old fell in love with Buddy and mentioned last night that he missed him. The location of the house was great; we were able to visit Pike's Peak, The Royal Gorge, and The Garden of the Gods. The area around Colorado Springs is beautiful!!

  • Gracious hosts. Had water bottles and treats set out when we arrived and set out treats every day. Respected our privacybut very willing and informative when asked questions about Colorado Springs. Even treated us to a cookout one night. Our week stay was very enjoyable and would stay there again.

  • We loved our stay with Brenda and Val, they are the most hospitable hosts! We had a group of 5 including 4 adults and a toddler, and there was plenty of room. The 2 bedrooms downstairs are spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. We loved the sitting room area that was also downstairs because we could hang out after our son went to sleep. Brenda provided us with wonderful pastries, bagels, and cereal for breakfast every morning. She also made us fresh smoothies that were so good! We loved eating breakfast on their beautiful patio. We highly recommend their home to anyone looking for a place to stay in Colorado Springs.

  • All I can say is wow. Brenda and Val are great hosts, and think about everything. From loaning me their GPS to cookies and chocolate in the guest room to omelets every morning, I was in great hands with them. Their suggestions for activities were spot on, and they are all around great people, which is a solid bonus. :) If you are going to CS, do yourself a favor, and stay with them!

  • Ever hear of a 5 star rating of hotels? Well this home is that and more! My mom and I were blown away by the hospitality we received, and we hope they will come out and visit us. The space is comfortable, clean and in a great location. If your coming through or to Colorado Springs, this is the place for you!

Val and I are active people and like to take trips full of exploration and fun! We like just about anything outdoors but also like cultural/historic experiences. We love life and all it has to offer and enjoy meeting new people from all over the world. We have an 10-year old lab named, Buddy, who is as loved as any two-legged child and more spoiled than most. We're continually trying to find ways to fit more travel into our lives and love trading travel stories. We like to cook, when we have time, and are exploring eating a more plant-based diet although Val says he'll always want to enjoy the occasional burger! We're pretty easy going and will give you all the space you want or join you in conversation or in your adventures in Colorado Springs. One of our favorite airbnb memories is when we drove our new friends, Laura and Teddy, up to the top of Pikes Peak. They also joined us for the annual hot air balloon festival. We look forward to meeting you!
