About this listing
Close to downtown fun, parks, hiking, biking, shopping and must-see sites.
We're conveniently located near downtown Colorado Springs with a partial view of the Rocky Mountains. You'll have the entire cottage to yourself: one bedroom with a queen-sized bed, comfortable living room, bistro table which seats up to four, one bath, and a nicely-equipped kitchen, including a gas stove. The loft upstairs comes with two twin air mattresses and linens. We feel the cottage can accommodate 2-3 adults comfortably. We'll accept a max of 4 people, if two people are comfortable sleeping on air mattresses in the sleeping loft and the four of you don't mind sharing the bathroom.
While we provide a few basic breakfast items, there's a Walmart and Safeway nearby, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and a local, organic grocery store just a 10-15 minute drive away. Many restaurants and shopping areas are nearby.
There's much to do in the Colorado Springs area. We're a block away from Boulder Park and five blocks from Memorial Park. Just down the street from the US Olympic Training Center and within 5 - 20 minutes of miles of trails and open space, Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs and Old Colorado City shopping, downtown Colorado Springs, United States Air Force Academy, and other don't-miss sites.
We're 2.5 - 3 hours from several ski resorts. Other easy day trips could include the Royal Gorge, white water rafting, or a trip to the summit of Pikes Peak.
Need a larger space? Check out our listing, New "Old 1930's" Cottage: two bedrooms, one full bath, larger kitchen and living room spaces, with a dining nook that seats six. There is a four night minimum.
While you're here you'll have access to flat-screen TV, wifi, convenient parking, and anything in the cottage including books and DVDs. There is a washer and dryer you may use as you accumulate laundry during longer stays. Please be respectful of resources. Outdoor living spaces include: a covered front porch, a patio with seating for four, a shared covered seating area for six, and a shared fire pit.
Interaction with Guests
Our goal is to make you as comfortable as possible and that includes how much you'd like to interact with us. We live on site in a home at the front of the lot and will be available for information and recommendations. We'd be glad to show you some of our favorite trails and sites around our beautiful city to see. You'll have our phone number - don't hesitate to call or stop over.
Please note: Reviews from before March 2014 are from our previous listing for a different house in a different part of the city. The reviews for March 2014 and after are for the cottage.
One of the best things about the neighborhood is that you'll get a real view into life in Colorado Springs. We're far enough away from the tourist areas for you to feel truly at home, but close enough to enjoy all the sites people from all over the world come to visit. We're situated between two parks and about a 25-minute walk from downtown restaurants, bars and other fun things to do and see.
We're just a block away from a bus stop. The bus routes cover a large portion of the area of the city we're in - we'd recommend searching online for the city bus routes if this is important to you. Otherwise, there is plenty of room for you to bring a car.
We look forward to meeting you!
Treat the cottage as if it were your own home.
Please, no smoking in the house or on the porches.
We're flexible as far as arrival time, although if it's possible between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm works best during the week. Check out time may also be flexible unless we have another guest checking in and then it's firm at 11:00 or before. If we can accommodate your request, we will!
Only the people who are included in your reservation request may stay in the cottage. There is a firm maximum of 4 people allowed. Please provide the number of people in your party and their names when we confirm your reservation.
Brenda and Val were exceptional hosts for our time in Colorado Springs. Giving us just the right amount of space and yet being available to answer questions or share our day with if we so chose. They even had a sign at the cute little entrance of this adorable cottage welcoming our later than expected arrival from the airport. The Cottage is well equipped with everything needed to feel at home and it is so clean and well kept that it makes you feel good just to be part of something that has been so fondly cared for and loved. We would definitely love to go back and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a great location to explore all the offerings of Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak area. There is so much more to do here than what we could fit into our week and we know that when we return to this area, this awesome little Cottage will feel like our CO home once again. Thanks Brenda and Val for sharing this little slice of heaven!
This was our first AirBnB stay and it was perfect. A beautiful cottage with all the modern conveniences of home. Everything you need is available, a fully stocked kitchen and we especially appreciated the washer dryer!
Brenda and Val were the perfect hosts. Easy to communicate with and very helpful with questions we had. Lovely couple and a beautifully landscaped yard.
Branda and Val were great! Very welcoming and accommodating. House was very clean and exactly as shown in the listing. The location was close to everything we wanted to do. We would gladly stay again.
Brenda was wonderful! She treated us like family! I can't imagine that it would be easy to share your home with total strangers, but Brenda did so with ease! The house we stayed in was a gorgeous bungalow on the same property as the cottage!
Brenda and Val designed the bungalow and didn't miss a detail! Anything (and everything) we needed was at our fingertips!
The beds were so comfy we didn't want to leave. The lovely fireplace was so welcoming, but it was warm when we were there so we only used it one evening!
Everything we needed for breakfast was in the kitchen! Amazing! My Grandma would call Brenda "the hostess with the mostess!"
We had the run of a lovely fenced-in yard. We decided not to bring our pets, but we enjoyed the privacy!
The bungalow was so cozy. My husband and I would love to build one just like it here in Illinois!
We were traveling with my Mother. She had her own space and privacy, which means a lot to us. We want her to feel welcome, too.
I've traveled a lot in my lifetime, and when traveling I try to avoid hotels! This home was perfect. Perfect in size, very comfortable, and private. It was also very quiet ... I haven't slept so well in years!
If you plan to be in the Colorado Springs area, take a look at this marvelous property! You won't be disappointed! Brenda is a wonderful woman! We hated to leave!!
My family & I stayed in the cottage for a week, we loved it, everything was clean & neat, we loved the quietness of neighborhood. The fridge was supplied with anything you need for breakfast. Brenda was very helpful & prompt. If I go to Colorado Springs one day, I know where to go.
Brenda and Val's cottage was absolutely perfect!! We had three adults and a toddler in tow, and this space was perfect for all of us to have more room than a hotel, but without having to pay much for the great space.
When we got there, there was a fantastic selection of coffee and tea. The cottage was impeccably clean and looked even better than the pictures. My sister even said "this kitchen is nicer than ours back at home!"
Great, homey details and the perfect night's stay. I'd highly recommend staying at the cottage (or any other properties that Brenda & Val might own), and hope to do it again!
From the moment I walked up to the front door.. I felt such a beautiful sense of home away from home. Starting with the personalized welcome sign to the warm inviting atmosphere of the cottage. I truly loved being a guest at this very special place. Soul Soothing ! Brenda and Val are two very amazing hosts with kind hearts eager to add the extra touches to make your stay comfortable and special. Ruby their dog was charming. I will never forget their kindness to me. It was very hard to leave such a beautiful experience.. but I will keep it close to my heart should I ever decide to run away from home! Brenda, Val.. Mahalo Nui Loa .. thank you with all my heart.. ALOHA Kelly

About the Host, Brenda And Val
Val and I are active people and like to take trips full of exploration and fun! We like just about anything outdoors but also like cultural/historic experiences. We love life and all it has to offer and enjoy meeting new people from all over the world. We have an 10-year old lab named, Buddy, who is as loved as any two-legged child and more spoiled than most.
We're continually trying to find ways to fit more travel into our lives and love trading travel stories. We like to cook, when we have time, and are exploring eating a more plant-based diet although Val says he'll always want to enjoy the occasional burger!
We're pretty easy going and will give you all the space you want or join you in conversation or in your adventures in Colorado Springs. One of our favorite airbnb memories is when we drove our new friends, Laura and Teddy, up to the top of Pikes Peak. They also joined us for the annual hot air balloon festival.
We look forward to meeting you!
