The Space

Hi Travelers,

The nitty gritty:
Please look search for all (3) of our listings via "Andersonville Dream"
We ask that you message us FIRST before booking. We have THREE bedrooms, but we have three separate listings as that's what we have to do with airbnb. Please make sure you book under the correct listing:

"Andersonville Dream! 1 bedroom" = Just one room, can fit two people
Andersonville Dream! 2 bedrooms" = Can fit up to four people
Andersonville Dream! Whole house - upto 6 ppl" = 3 bedrooms and total home rental to yourselves

Our space: We have an amazing three bedroom flat in a wonderfully unique and beautiful home located in the heart of one of Chicago's most beloved neighborhoods. We have one room that has a queen bed and two room with full beds. The queen is in the master bedroom, which is only available when you book the whole house. We welcome single travelers, groups, families, and friends! We provide clean linens/pillows, access to large bedrooms, living/dining room, a sunroom complete with a spinnet piano, record player and cozy recliners, a sizable bathroom with your own cabinet for your things, a lovely, large front porch with rocking chairs, a picturesque backyard picnic area with a grill, and a fully updated kitchen with all the bells and whistles. Internet is available as well, but we are happily a TV free household!

Fun fact: Our home, built in 1905, once housed a speak easy in the basement. There's cabinetry to prove it - we'll show you!

About the neighborhood: We humbly believe you can't do much better. Andersonville is one of Chicago's most treasured neighborhoods, where we enjoy "village life in the big city" as lauded by the New York Times. In our little European like neighborhood, which is steeped in its Swedish heritage and valiantly committed to supporting its local businesses, you'll enjoy some of the city's best locally owned antique stores, restaurants, boutiques, bookstores and bars. If you're an antique freak, foodie, beer/wine aficionado, or green geek, this is the neighborhood for you. This green friendly area is the city's first neighborhood-managed alternative recycling program. We're a ten minute walk to Foster beach and the lakefront path and a five minute walk to the CTA red line. You also can't miss all the amazing Vietnamese treats by the Argyle train stop, and just down the street on Broadway the Green Mill, the city's first jazz club and favorite spot of Al Capone's.

Bonus: Your own personal event planner. Kristen does that stuff professionally and will help you design the best Chicago trip ever. Leave your "Not For Tourist" book behind; you've got your own guide.

Whoosh! We're ready for you - message us!

  • Beautiful space and warm and helpful hosts! A great stay all around.

  • We couldn't have have a better experience in Chicago with these two lovely ladies as our guides. Seriously, it couldn't have been better.

Both Kristen and Mollie are on top of EVERYTHING and know the city like the back of their hands! Kristen immediately made us feel comfortable in a foreign city and at home in their space (Blueberry pancakes for breakfast on the first morning... whoa!) and Mollie's swag is steady on-point! We were ready to move in full-time if given the opportunity. I don't think either of us wanted to leave!

Everywhere we went we were greeted by friends of these two; talk about Midwestern Hospitality. I just hope that one day we can show off our little city to them--A beautiful friendship has bloomed...

  • The girls are the best, we spent more time with Kirsten because Mollie was at work. Really quiet place, no tv, no heavy traffic. Nice home with a beautiful kitchen. They will help you in everything you need as directions, places and tips to know the city. We without a doubt will stay here if we go to chicago again.

  • These ladies are amazing! Well, truthfully, I only met Kristen (Mollie was working all weekend), but she was simply a stellar hostess. Kristen has a background in event-planning, so she is quite skilled at designing the ultimate "visitor experience"--you will not be disappointed! I received excellent directions via text message, a set of keys, a password for internet, cozy bed, soft towel, hot coffee and a delicious breakfast of croissant, nutella, and an apple!

Andersonville is a wonderful neighborhood that I know well, having lived around the corner for 7 years. I was visiting with friends nearby and wanted to stay in the 'hood to take in all the new restaurants and design stores. Fun, vibrant and convenient. If you still have room after your delightful breakfast with Kristen and Mollie, make sure to visit SVEA on Clark St for Swedish pancakes--delicious!

  • This place was just what I needed- a quiet, nice spot to sleep during the day in between working at night. I chose the listing closest to where I was working since I was unfamiliar with the city and knew I would be navigating my way there in the dark. I'm glad this place was the closest! I was able to rest undisturbed and felt at home, safe, and found parking easily.

  • I have so many good things to say about these hosts, and at the top of the list is how professional they were about my stay. Kristen was quick with responses to my questions and kept me updated on everything concerning their place. Their house in Andersonville was clean, comfortable, and in the best location. I would not hesitate to stay with them again.

  • Kristen & Mollie are the BEST! As soon as I arrived they made me feel welcome and comfortable. Mollie offered me a glass of wine and guacamole and chips to curb my h-angry appetite as I waited for my partner to arrive to the apartment.

They are both so warm, generous, easy going and knowledgeable about Chicago happenings. We felt right at home. They told us about all the local good eats and fun things to do in the neighborhood and city. We even met up with our hosts the next evening at Kristen's monthly party. We danced the entire night. If you get a chance check out the night Kristen's throw every month - GO. Hands down the best place to go for 90's r&b, hip hop and other nostalgic B sides.

There place was conveniently located. It was easy to take the bus and train to get around. Their place is charming and CLEAN.

I highly recommend these ladies if you want to guarantee a positive Airbnb experience. I can't say enough good about these ladies. They are the best!!!

  • I booked with K&M on short notice (less than 24 hours) and primarily communicated with Mollie upon arrival. Within 5 minutes of walking in the door from an exhausting trip, she had craft beer in my hand and was working on a home cooked meal for the three of us present. I couldn't ask for anything more, as this was above and beyond expectations. I was invited along to a party Kristen was throwing at a nearby bar, and had a great time soaking up the experience. All in all the total package was well worth the cost of booking. The space was a funky vibe, with plenty of room. The private room was more than adequate, with the only caveat being a lack of air conditioning in the house which could possibly lend for some sweaty days and nights if one is averse to heat. I did not find this to be a major issue on my trip, as a cracked window left enough breeze to cool the room. Your mileage may vary depending on the weather forecast. I was given a set of keys and was free to come and go when I pleased. K&M provided transportation to the bar my first night, which was a bonus. They are in summary worthy of a 5-star host rating and I would recommend staying here if the location is convenient to what you need to get to in Chicago. Andersonville was, for me, a very quiet, safe neighborhood with plenty of amenities within a short walk. I would recommend if you do choose their place to visit Hopleaf for a wide selection of beer and great food within a 2 block walk.

About
Kristen is a Vermont born, Chicago dwelling self-described culture vulture. She owns an events production company called No Small Plans Productions, teaches about PR and Collaborative Consumerism (airbnb!) and marketing at Columbia College Chicago, and produces documentary films and events on her own time. Many would describe her as enthusiastic, entertaining, passionate, creative, kind, and maybe a little kooky. She's mad about baking, thrifting & creative style, and Mary J. Blige. She has a very busy lifestyle but treats Sunday as a day to brunch, read the NYTimes, bake, host friends, and wear clogs. Mollie was raised in small town in the middle of Illinois farmland. She greatly enjoys nature adventures, framily (friends + family), staying active, sharing meals, & hanging out on the farm with mom, dad, and the dogs. She works in TV and film production, working as one of only two women in Chicago's camera union. (!) When she's not operating a camera, she dabbles in woodworking and tending to her growing plant collection. She also likes to ride her vintage motorbike, race cyclocross, hike, get crafty, garden, and share good food and beverage. She prefers the balance of calm-to-crazy and is commonly found chilling on the porch, reading, laughing, and tinkering around. Together, we truly love building community around travel, friendships, swapping/trading, and joy. We do not get down with negativity, or racism/sexism/classism/ageism/homophobia/transphobia or anything that promotes harming or hating others. We live to love and love to live & welcome you to join. We operate on respect, trust and will go the extra mile to help you enjoy our great city of Chicago. We can be low key or provide the best-kept secrets to Chicago - just ask! Happy trails!
