The Space

Sweet, sunny studio with kitchen plus deck overlooking wooded forest. Easily sleeps 3-4 people; there is one queen bed and two twin beds (trundle). It is very private, with plenty of parking. The studio is spacious (800 sq ft), and detached, so very quiet. There is a full kitchen--great for cooking (you bring food, we supply the coffee!). The studio is on the second floor (but no one resides below, there is an unused garage), so you need to go up a flight of stairs.

You are a two minute walk from the redwoods of Jackson State Forest, and a 2 mile drive from the Mendocino Coast beaches and the gorgeous botanical gardens. Enjoy wine-tasting, surfing, kayaking, or hiking at any time of year, or check in advance to find out which of the many festivals are happening before you visit (crab, mushroom, whale, film and music festivals, local history days, paul bunyan days, etc). Well-behaved pets are ok, but should be on leash when not in the house. No smoking inside. We are about 8 minutes away from Fort Bragg, and are about 15 minutes from the village of Mendocino.

We're about a 3.5 hour drive from San Francisco or Oakland airports. Santa Rosa also has a small airport (Alaska/Horizon main carrier). We are 2.5 hours from Santa Rosa.

We are gay-friendly, tourist-friendly, family-friendly! Please let me know in advance if you have any special needs or requests to make your stay enjoyable.

Check in is 2pm, checkout is Noon, but let me know if you need a later departure or earlier arrival, and if I can accommodate you I will.

We have a 2-night minimum policy, but you are free to request single nights during the winter or on weekdays and I will generally be able to accommodate you.

One note: most cell phones work from the house, but AT&T service is less reliable. You are welcome to use the phone at my house for important calls if yours doesn't work. Update: internet is now reliable!
Another note: PLEASE print out or bring along the directions you receive after booking. If you rely on the GPS sometimes they lead you astray when you get up near my house.

  • Anne was a wonderful host. She showed up when we arrived and brought us purple hydrangeas for the tree house. It is just like described as if we were in the trees. the place was clean, quiet and comfortable. the neighborhood was quiet as well. Her information booklet had wonderful ideas of things to do. We totally enjoyed our stay there and would stay again.

  • We found the Tree House to be a nice, quiet hideaway and perfect for a relaxing break to the Mendocino Coast. The host Anne was very accommodating and we had everything we needed for our trip. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking the fish that we'd caught on our boat trip and the wifi was a big plus as phone reception is a bit weak out in the woods! Thank you Anne!

  • We had a great visit at the Tree House. Anne was friendly yet respected our privacy, visiting for just a few minutes to make sure everything was as we expected. We really appreciated that our dogs were welcome. Comfy bed and nice sitting area for relaxing in the mornings and evenings. Kitchen had everything we needed. We could easily have stayed a week or more without missing home!

  • The listing was exactly as advertised. A spacious room among the pines. Has everything you need to enjoy a relaxed stay in Fort Bragg. It's close to the main street in town where all the shops and restaurants are located.

  • We were celebrating our anniversary with a weekend away, and the forest surrounding the Tree House provided the perfect, beautiful setting. Lovely, peaceful view while lounging on the deck, and beautiful forest walking/hiking trails just a few minutes’ walk from the house. Only a short drive into the town. The studio is spacious, comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed – very comfortable bed, nice kitchen, coffee maker, decent internet access. We would definitely return here!

  • The Ft. Bragg Treehouse was lovely. It's ON the property, but quite private! The kitchen was very well appointed. The bed was comfortable. The linens were soft and fresh and the towels were thick and high quality. Anne was a friendly host. She introduced herself, made sure we knew where to find her if if we needed assistance and then left us to our privacy. Anne has compiled a book of menus, local sights and things to do in the area we found very helpful.
We would recommend this property to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the Mendocino coast.

  • We weren't able to meet Anne during our stay because she was traveling, but everything at the Treehouse was just lovely. It's in a quiet neighborhood, and the studio is private and very comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked with cookware, the bed is comfortable, and altogether it is a relaxing spot among the trees. We visited Sea Glass Beach and the Cabrillo Lighthouse nearby, and both were gorgeous. I would definitely stay here again.

  • I would definitely stay here again. The house is modest but lovely: brightly colored walls, lots of natural light, big bed and spacious bathroom. The location was very convenient for visiting the ocean. We only met Anne briefly but she was friendly. Two particularly nice touches were a binder she compiled of local activities and a journal that her guests had written their own recommendations in.

  • Anne stayed with me on the phone until I found her place, which was so helpful. She was right there to greet us upon arrival and was friendly and welcoming.
The tree house is like a cottage on stilts! Really relaxed environment both in and around the tree house. Every window looked out to trees, which was beautiful. The beds were super comfortable. It was easy to get to the main attractions (by car) and Anne left a binder with directions, places to see, and recommended restaurants. It was a very relaxed stay and I would definitely recommend it for those who enjoy the cottage life. Thanks for a lovely stay, Anne.

About
I love to travel and love to meet travelers! I moved to this beautiful area from San Francisco about 6 years ago and really enjoy sharing it with guests at the Tree House. Since I don't get to travel as often as I would like, I live vicariously through the stories of the travelers passing through, and have many a good gab on the deck of the Tree House. I hope to meet you soon (or again!).
