About this listing

Spacious 1 bedroom, newly remodeled, very private, overlooking the woods.

The space

Sweet, sunny 1 bedroom with kitchen plus deck overlooking wooded forest. Easily sleeps 3-4 people; there is one queen bed and two twin beds. It is very private, with plenty of parking. The studio is spacious (800 sq ft), and detached, so very quiet. There is a full kitchen--great for cooking (you bring food, we supply the coffee!). We provide bedding, towels, shampoo and soap. The studio is on the second floor (but no one resides below, there is an unused garage), so you need to go up a flight of stairs.

You are a two minute walk from the redwoods of Jackson State Forest, and a 2 mile drive from the Mendocino Coast beaches and the gorgeous botanical gardens. Enjoy wine-tasting, surfing, kayaking, or hiking at any time of year, or check in advance to find out which of the many festivals are happening before you visit (crab, mushroom, whale, film and music festivals, local history days, paul bunyan days, etc). Well-behaved pets are ok, but should be on leash when not in the house. No smoking inside. We are about 8 minutes away from Fort Bragg, and are about 15 minutes from the village of Mendocino.

We're about a 3.5 hour drive from San Francisco or Oakland airports. Santa Rosa also has a small airport (Alaska/Horizon main carrier). We are 2.5 hours from Santa Rosa.

We are gay-friendly, tourist-friendly, family-friendly! Please let me know in advance if you have any special needs or requests to make your stay enjoyable.

Check in is 3pm, checkout is Noon, but let me know if you need a later departure or earlier arrival, and if I can accommodate you I will.

We have a 2-night minimum policy, but you are free to request single nights during the winter or on weekdays and I will generally be able to accommodate you.

One note: most cell phones work from the house, but AT&T service is less reliable. You are welcome to use the phone at my house for important calls if yours doesn't work. Update: internet is now reliable!
Another note: PLEASE print out or bring along the directions you receive after booking. If you rely on the GPS sometimes they lead you astray when you get up near my house.

It was our first Airbnb experience and it was a great one! The studio was exactly as promised and we were impressed with the lengths that Anne went to to provide a notebook of restaurant recommendations, things to do, etc. The location was great--absolutely quiet at night, but still quite close to both Fort Bragg and Mendocino.

The only "inaccuracy" is the place is considerably larger than expected. This is an ideal location for hikers, not only for proximity to many state parks, but you can hike for miles after a very brief walk down the road. This is a true getaway location.

Anne's communication was superb prior to the trip. The location of the rental was not exactly easy to find via GPS and she gave us great directions which came in handy as we got there very late. The tree house is really lovely with all the amenities for a relaxing stay. The open, studio layout is really cozy but big enough to where you don't feel like you're on top of each other. The main bed is super comfortable and the flannel sheets are heaven. I haven't slept that good in a long time. Maybe it's because the surroundings are so beautiful with redwood trees you just feel really relaxed. We didn't cook but there's a full kitchen with all the fixings if you want to. There's a nice flat screen TV, WiFi, board games, etc. for entertainment. I spent one afternoon just enjoying the deck with a nice, cold beer. There's also this adorable neighborhood dog who came to greet us the first morning. This was our first Airbnb experience and has given us confidence to try it again. My only regret is we didn't get to meet Anne as our schedules didn't match up and I read such great things about her. It's not exactly close to SF but if you really want to get away from it all this is the place!

Anne's place is beautifully done, clean, with a deck overlooking trees and giving you privacy. It is a short drive to a great supermarket and downtown Fort Bragg. We hope to come back soon. Thanks Anne !!

We had a lovely time at the Treehouse! Such a quiet restful place and such a quiet neighborhood! Anne was a great host and even met up with us to hand off the veggies we'd accidentally left in the fridge :) I highly recommend this rental--we'd love to come back!

I love to travel and love to meet travelers! I moved to this beautiful area from San Francisco about 6 years ago and really enjoy sharing it with guests at the Tree House. Since I don't get to travel as often as I would like, I live vicariously through the stories of the travelers passing through, and have many a good gab on the deck of the Tree House. I hope to meet you soon (or again!).
