Sweet, sunny studio with kitchen plus deck overlooking wooded forest. Easily sleeps 3-4 people; there is one queen bed and two twin beds (trundle). It is very private, with plenty of parking. The studio is spacious (800 sq ft), and detached, so very quiet. There is a full kitchen--great for cooking (you bring food, we supply the coffee!). The studio is on the second floor (but no one resides below, there is an unused garage), so you need to go up a flight of stairs.
You are a two minute walk from the redwoods of Jackson State Forest, and a 2 mile drive from the Mendocino Coast beaches and the gorgeous botanical gardens. Enjoy wine-tasting, surfing, kayaking, or hiking at any time of year, or check in advance to find out which of the many festivals are happening before you visit (crab, mushroom, whale, film and music festivals, local history days, paul bunyan days, etc). Well-behaved pets are ok, but should be on leash when not in the house. No smoking inside. We are about 8 minutes away from Fort Bragg, and are about 15 minutes from the village of Mendocino.
We're about a 3.5 hour drive from San Francisco or Oakland airports. Santa Rosa also has a small airport (Alaska/Horizon main carrier). We are 2.5 hours from Santa Rosa.
We are gay-friendly, tourist-friendly, family-friendly! Please let me know in advance if you have any special needs or requests to make your stay enjoyable.
Check in is 2pm, checkout is Noon, but let me know if you need a later departure or earlier arrival, and if I can accommodate you I will.
We have a 2-night minimum policy, but you are free to request single nights during the winter or on weekdays and I will generally be able to accommodate you.
One note: most cell phones work from the house, but AT&T service is less reliable. You are welcome to use the phone at my house for important calls if yours doesn't work. Update: internet is now reliable!
Another note: PLEASE print out or bring along the directions you receive after booking. If you rely on the GPS sometimes they lead you astray when you get up near my house.
Note: if you are inquiring about a stay over Thanksgiving, we require a 3-night minimum.
Please be courteous of neighbors; no loud parties. We kindly ask that you wash all your dishes upon departure since we can't always get in to clean right away. Pets not allowed on furniture. No smoking indoors.
My brother and I had a wonderful stay (two nights) at Anne's Tree House. Her directions to get there were clear and accurate (and you DO need them!). Anne came over from her house to say hello and asked us if we needed anything. The accommodations were as described online and very comfortable. We couldn't ask for anything more, there were even four kinds of Peet's Coffee in a cabinet. The location is peaceful and quiet, nestled in the woods and not far from town. I would certainly go back and also recommend the Tree House to our friends. Thank you, Anne!
Anne's treehouse was a perfect getaway! I agree with all the sentiments left by other reviewers! Thanks Anne!
Anne was great, very welcoming and very accommodating. She had lots of helpful suggestions and is always available. I would definitely come back and I hope I find myself coming back to this beautiful area.
Great welcome!super nice and friendly.we liked it :-)
Thank you, Anne!
Your tree house made for the perfect launching spot for my adventures in/around Ft. Bragg. It's really just a short drive (10 min.) from town and several beaches.
I felt comfortable and "at-home" the moment I arrived. The bed was super comfy - one of the best I have slept on! My dog loved it, too. He may have a hard time adjusting to city life again.
The place was bright, cheery and full of light. It was just like the photos and descriptions. I used the kitchen frequently and found everything I needed.
My dog and I made great use of the hike in Jackson St Forest, just walking from the tree house. And, I honestly was surprised how close we were to so many beaches, parks and of course the restaurants in Ft Bragg.
I can't wait to come back!
The tree house is a lovely, open space to stay nestled among the trees. We enjoyed coffee on the deck and a sweet kitchen with everything we needed to cook breakfast before a day of hiking. Anne was most accommodating and her pride in this space is obvious. We're very glad we stayed here.
We had a wonderful stay at a perfect apartment for a family visiting the Mendocino/Fort Bragg area. Our hike in the nearby state forest was a great start to our vacation, and the house is super well-located and equipped for cooking and comfort. We were able to easily explore nearby beaches, restaurants, museums, and redwood parks, and then come back to "home base," as my kids called it, to play games, cook meals, and rest. The airy open floor plan of the apartment was also wonderful for those times when we were hanging out indoors. Thank you Anne for such a wonderful home away from home!

About the Host, Anne
I love to travel and love to meet travelers! I moved to this beautiful area from San Francisco about 6 years ago and really enjoy sharing it with guests at the Tree House. Since I don't get to travel as often as I would like, I live vicariously through the stories of the travelers passing through, and have many a good gab on the deck of the Tree House. I hope to meet you soon (or again!).
If you could only do 1 thing on your visit this would be it. Beautiful landscaped gardens, roll out to wilder space along the coast. They allow dogs on leash, and provide umbrellas in the rain.
Great waterfront view on the funky Noyo harbor, in warm weather you can sit on the large outdoor deck. Great fish tacos, and full bar!
best. pizza. ever.
Great opportunity to travel the old logging route by train, and you can book on a steam train, or come for seasonal/specialty events like the 'wine train' or the 'polar express' at xmas.
A beautifully restored light house, with a Fresnel (sp?) lens, which you can see fully operable from many vantage points along the coast. The old inn-keepers homes are also restored.
Just a 15 minute drive from us, this is a stunning Victorian village set alongside the coast. You can shop, eat, stroll, go to the beach, or walk along the rocky coastal headlines.
If you need to shop for a child (newborn to about nine), this store has a wonderful selection of adorable clothes and gifts.
A fantastic independent book store, with a fabulous view, a webcam trained on the ocean on their web site, a charming staff, and a wonderful selection. Rain or shine, pay them a visit.
