Tree House Studio near Redwoods

House - Entire home/apt · Franklin Rd, Fort Bragg, CA 95437, United States

The Space

Sweet, sunny studio with kitchen plus deck overlooking wooded forest. Easily sleeps 3-4 people; there is one queen bed and two twin beds (trundle). It is very private, with plenty of parking. The studio is spacious (800 sq ft), and detached, so very quiet. There is a full kitchen--great for cooking (you bring food, we supply the coffee!). The studio is on the second floor (but no one resides below, there is an unused garage), so you need to go up a flight of stairs.

You are a two minute walk from the redwoods of Jackson State Forest, and a 2 mile drive from the Mendocino Coast beaches and the gorgeous botanical gardens. Enjoy wine-tasting, surfing, kayaking, or hiking at any time of year, or check in advance to find out which of the many festivals are happening before you visit (crab, mushroom, whale, film and music festivals, local history days, paul bunyan days, etc). Well-behaved pets are ok, but should be on leash when not in the house. No smoking inside. We are about 8 minutes away from Fort Bragg, and are about 15 minutes from the village of Mendocino.

We're about a 3.5 hour drive from San Francisco or Oakland airports. Santa Rosa also has a small airport (Alaska/Horizon main carrier). We are 2.5 hours from Santa Rosa.

We are gay-friendly, tourist-friendly, family-friendly! Please let me know in advance if you have any special needs or requests to make your stay enjoyable.

Check in is 2pm, checkout is Noon, but let me know if you need a later departure or earlier arrival, and if I can accommodate you I will.

We have a 2-night minimum policy, but you are free to request single nights during the winter or on weekdays and I will generally be able to accommodate you.

One note: most cell phones work from the house, but AT&T service is less reliable. You are welcome to use the phone at my house for important calls if yours doesn't work. Update: internet is now reliable!
Another note: PLEASE print out or bring along the directions you receive after booking. If you rely on the GPS sometimes they lead you astray when you get up near my house.

  • We stayed at the Tree House for a quiet, relaxing weekend. Great hiking nearby, plenty of food and groceries a short drive away. The place was very pleasant and comfortable, we and our dog had a great time.

  • We stayed at the Tree House studio this past weekend and had a wonderful time. Anne was very accommodating (although we are are sorry we did not get to meet her). The space was very warm and inviting, well appropriated, the bed super comfortable with lots of information on hand about things to do in the area. We were very happy to be able to spend time there to relax and re-charge, when planning time back in the area I will certainly look to see if the place is available again to rent. Thank you Anne!

  • The TreeHouse was the perfect place for us to stay while visiting Mendocino. It was easy to find, very clean, had a big comfy bed, and most importantly, accommodated our large dogs. Anne was a great host, stopping by only briefly to introduce herself. The place was quite private and there was great hiking in a state park, just a short walk from the driveway. We had a great time, and would definitely stay at the TreeHouse again.

  • We had to make a last minute booking due to a change in plans and Anne was quick to respond and get us into her place on the "same day". The place was clean and well equipped, just a little South of Downtown Fort Bragg and about 15 min from Mendocino Village, it's secluded enough to find the peace and quiet your looking for, but not to far removed that it's difficult to run to the store. Anne was there to greet us, gave us a quick tour and then... left us alone to enjoy her property. Highly recommended.

  • TOTALLY awesome place! Clean, well-designed, private, absolutely loaded with amenities, great kitchen, very comfy bed, just a really wonderful place to stay! It's only about a 15 minute drive from downtown Fort Bragg, though definitely out in the woods a bit. Rustic and fun!

  • This was our second and longer stay in the Tree House and it is just as pictured. It is private, peaceful, quiet and close to everything in Fort Bragg as well as Mendocino. Our dogs enjoyed their stay too! Anne has been helpful and a pleasure. She even added holiday decor since our stay was over Christmas. Would highly recommend.

  • The tree house was such a perfect place to stay in Mendocino County. My boyfriend and I went up the coast to go snorkeling and spearfishing, and this was a very comfortable home-away-from-home during our stay. We were able to cook breakfast both mornings and dinner one night because of all the excellent cookware available to us. Anne even left detailed descriptions of restaurants in town, which we took her up on one night as well. She was extremely organized and the place was very inviting. I definitely hope to stay there again for another venture up north. Thanks Anne!

  • The studio is a wonderful space - we loved how open it is, and the apartment is in great condition. The bathroom and kitchen are very nice and well equipped. The deck under the pine trees was lovely. It is secluded and rural, but close to Fort Bragg, Mendocino and coastal state parks.

We went with 2 adults and 2 kids. All the lights are on dimmers which makes it very flexible - a big help given the one room. The beds are great; the kids loved the trundle bed and orange sheets!

  • The Treehouse is my favorite place to stay in Mendocino County. Not only it's close to all of the main attractions of Fort Bragg and Mendocino but it's also secluded and extremely relaxing.

Anne is a great host and she keeps a very informative binder with activities to do in the area and a guide to all the local hikes which was a big plus.

I can't wait to go back and stay there again!

  • The tree house was great - it had everything we needed to cook and relax. Anne was very helpful and accessible by text. She even picked out some hikes she thought we might like when we asked her. You can hike right into the state preserve from the house and be immediately surrounded by redwoods. I would definitely recommend the tree house for a relaxing weekend.

I love to travel and love to meet travelers! I moved to this beautiful area from San Francisco about 6 years ago and really enjoy sharing it with guests at the Tree House. Since I don't get to travel as often as I would like, I live vicariously through the stories of the travelers passing through, and have many a good gab on the deck of the Tree House. I hope to meet you soon (or again!).
