About this listing
Sweet, sunny studio with kitchen plus deck overlooking wooded forest. Easily sleeps 3-4 people; there is one queen bed and two twin beds (trundle). It is very private, with plenty of parking. Pet-friendly!
Note: I require a 3 day reservation over labor day weekend in September. Also I will not be on site from 9/2-9/17 but there will be a house-sitter here in case of emergencies. The house is set up to let yourselves in and out of and will be clean. Just a heads up!
Sweet, sunny studio with kitchen plus deck overlooking wooded forest. Easily sleeps 3-4 people; there is one queen bed and two twin beds (trundle). It is very private, with plenty of parking. The studio is spacious (800 sq ft), and detached, so very quiet. There is a full kitchen--great for cooking (you bring food, we supply the coffee!). The studio is on the second floor (but no one resides below, there is an unused garage), so you need to go up a flight of stairs.
You are a two minute walk from the redwoods of Jackson State Forest, and a 2 mile drive from the Mendocino Coast beaches and the gorgeous botanical gardens. Enjoy wine-tasting, surfing, kayaking, or hiking at any time of year, or check in advance to find out which of the many festivals are happening before you visit (crab, mushroom, whale, film and music festivals, local history days, paul bunyan days, etc). Well-behaved pets are ok, but should be on leash when not in the house. No smoking inside. We are about 8 minutes away from Fort Bragg, and are about 15 minutes from the village of Mendocino.
We're about a 3.5 hour drive from San Francisco or Oakland airports. Santa Rosa also has a small airport (Alaska/Horizon main carrier). We are 2.5 hours from Santa Rosa.
We are gay-friendly, tourist-friendly, family-friendly! Please let me know in advance if you have any special needs or requests to make your stay enjoyable.
Check in is 2pm, checkout is Noon, but let me know if you need a later departure or earlier arrival, and if I can accommodate you I will.
We have a 2-night minimum policy, but you are free to request single nights during the winter or on weekdays and I will generally be able to accommodate you.
One note: most cell phones work from the house, but AT&T service is less reliable. You are welcome to use the phone at my house for important calls if yours doesn't work. Update: internet is now reliable!
Another note: PLEASE print out or bring along the directions you receive after booking. If you rely on the GPS sometimes they lead you astray when you get up near my house.
Note: if you are inquiring about a stay over Thanksgiving, we require a 3-night minimum.
Please be courteous of neighbors; no loud parties. We kindly ask that you wash all your dishes upon departure since we can't always get in to clean right away. Pets not allowed on furniture. No smoking indoors.
Had a great time walking trails around the place. Her dog Cleo joined us, it was great. The studio is spacious and clean and the areas nearby were all fantastic.
Anne was a wonderful host and so helpful with giving directions and making sure we got to the studio at night. She came and checked on us several times and made us feel very welcome. The studio was very comfortable and served our needs well. It is very accessible to Fort Bragg and Mendocino with beautiful scenery. Thank you for a great stay!
Anne came to meet us when we arrived to the Tree House Studio. We appreciated her helping us to select activities during our stay in the Fort Bragg area. The spacious upstairs studio was located down a gravel road in a quiet neighborhood. Cable TV and Internet service were much appreciated.
The towels smelled a bit musty/funny. Not sure if this is just a beach/coastal climate thing... Not a huge deal. Loved loved everything else and will return.
Anne's place was awesome. It was super cozy, clean, and I will definitely go back for a nice stay in the woods.
We had a fantastic stay at the Tree House over July 4th weekend. First, let's dispense with the usual stuff -- warm welcome, space was even better than we expected, comfy beds, well-equipped, sparkling clean. Here's what makes it really special: the skylights bathe the space in light; the deck is surrounded by trees and yet is sunny; the half-hour walk in the forest is perfect and lovely; the location is so quiet and peaceful and yet convenient (10 minutes?) from town; the little things, like big coffee mugs; pet-friendly-our dogs loved it, too, and we appreciated the dog-friendly tips, like the off-leash beach; the big space and beautiful rug.
The tree house is the perfect place to escape. It is comfortable, casual and the deck is divine. The skylights fill the place with light and the windows provde bird level views of the trees. On the deck you can watch the clouds form. A short walks puts you in the forest where you can fine deer, waterfalls and quiet.

About the Host, Anne
I love to travel and love to meet travelers! I moved to this beautiful area from San Francisco about 6 years ago and really enjoy sharing it with guests at the Tree House. Since I don't get to travel as often as I would like, I live vicariously through the stories of the travelers passing through, and have many a good gab on the deck of the Tree House. I hope to meet you soon (or again!).
