I don't recommend this house.
I stayed 2 night at the house. The location is good, but there is nothing in the house. No food, No shampoo, No toilet paper, No towel. After I told her, I could get toilet paper and only one towel even I was supposed to stay 4 days. If you don't tell her, you can't get anything.
I stayed at basement room. After her explanation, she locked the door to go up. So if you want to meet her, you have to hammer the door. Sometimes, I felt I am like animal in the zoo.
There were her 3 kids. two of them are less than 6 years old. They always ran around and threw something away to floor so there was lots of noise.
The most important thing was heater. I stayed on dec 26,27th. It was cold. I felt cold so I told her heater doesn't work well and asked check. but she said she already turned on the heater. and she never letted me touch thermometer, so I didn't know how cold my room was. same with her husband. I slept with wearing my parka finally.
Also, there was bad smell from a shower curtain and there were some hairs in bath tub.
I never recommend this house to you guys.
30$ per night is definitely not worth for this place! I would give 15$ max for this place. There are several rooms which were rented out, and it was a decent stay. The room which I was in nearby kitchen, lot of noise and smell when someone's cooking food. I never met Fowzia, her husband Sadiq opened the door . It has very basic ameneties like a Bed,Blanket, pillow and a rest room to use and kitchen to cook....however we have to get all out things including towels, soaps, toothpaste, kitchen utensils, water, etc.
Its okay for a day or so, but there are other great places in vancouver for less price and great hospitality
this worked well for me
i was in Van for a weekend convention
it was clean, private and quiet with a separate access
the bus stop to downtown IS right outside the frontdoor
I Stayed At Fawzia's Place For About 8 Days. The Place Was Good And She Is Also Very Flexible And Helpful. She Also Gave Me Good Information About The Place On My First Day There. Although Her Kids Keep Her Busy, One Can Reach Her When Required. I Had A Comfortable Stay In Her House.
Staying at Fowzia's was really nice, the room was great and clean, it was also nice to have a kitchen at our disposal. There is a bus stop right in front of the door so it´s very easy to go to downtown vancouver. Fowzia is a great host !
Nice place to stay. With the bus you need only 30 minutes to downtown! The people are very friendly and they help you if you have got a problem. The only bad thing is that there are some things missing in the kitchen for cooking but that's it. Also a nice place to stay for a longer!
The house is well located and really clean. Fowzia and her family are friendly. Good place to stay!
Fowzia is a very friendly and accommodating host. The room was a very good bang-for-the-buck. Note: the walls seemed thin and household noises were cleary heard. It was easy to see that care was taken to keep everything clean and orderly. The Knight street location is easily accessible. Another note: access is from the back lane behind the house. I will definitely stay again and happily recommend to others.
Fowzia and Sadiq were very hospitable! And, though they cannot spare much time with their 3 young boys, they offered me help and good advice whenever I required any. Thank you guys!
Fowzia and her family were very welcoming and accommodating. The room we used was ideal for our needs (just a place to wash and sleep).
Whilst there is a bus stop right outside the house, we had to wait over an hour in downtown Vancouver to get a bus back to the house between 10 and 11 pm. This may have been a coincidence but certainly was painful. Of course this is no fault of Fowzia, but worth noting nonetheless.
