Cabin Ishbel is our beautiful wooden chalet in West Wales, which sleeps six people. It is the perfect place to spend a long weekend or a family holiday, nestled in the peaceful Welsh countryside.
A mile from the village of Cenarth in Carmarthenshire, Cabin Ishbel is a cosy peaceful place to spend a long weekend or have a family holiday. It has three bedrooms - a double, a twin, and a bunk room - so can comfortable sleep 6 people, with room for another two in the lounge.
Cabin Ishbel nestles in the trees on the edge of Penlan Holiday Village, a small family-run holiday park of Swiss-style lodges in a beautiful woodland setting. The park has a small shop, a bar, an outdoor pool (in summer), and provides wifi across the site.
The cabin has a well-equipped fitted kitchen, heaters in each room and an electric shower. From the kitchen and deck you can look over the Preseli hills while you have dinner, or a BBQ. The lounge is super cosy, with a stove to help keep the evening chills away.
Cabin Ishbel is our home-away-from-home, we stay there ourselves several times a year; we even held our wedding party there! The cabin is one of our favourite places to be and we'd love to have you come and visit.
The cabin is very much a self-service experience. We will send you a key code, and you let yourself in. Please bring your own bed linen (or pre-arrange to hire it from the park reception at £6 per bed) - duvets, pillows and lots of blankets are provided.
Rural West Wales at its finest. A great launch pad for country walks, and the Pembrokeshire National Park just 10 miles away. The river Teifi runs through the village, with opportunities to kayak and fish. The nearest beach is 10 miles away, with all the gorgeous secluded beaches of the Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire coast lines to choose from.
You're in a rural location, so public transport is limited - the cabin is best reached by car. However, there is an hourly bus service, Mon-Sat only, which will take you between Cenarth and Cardigan, or Cenarth and Carmarthen (the nearest mainline train station).
Other Things to Note
We choose not to have a tuned-in television, as the cabin is a place to unwind and disconnect from the world. But we have tonnes of DVDs and a good selection of board games! Please bring £1 coins for the electricity meter (roughly one per day). Please bring your own towels and bed linen (but pillows and duvets are provided).
Have fun, relax, forget about work!
We'll send you an Essential Info PDF as part of the AirBnB "House Manual" once you complete your booking. Follow the simple instructions on arrival and departure. There's also a little folder of notes in the cabin full of helpful advice.
Tidy up after yourself, help yourself to any food and drink you find in the cupboards, and replace them when you get the chance.
Bring your own bed linen and towels, or hire them from the park reception when you arrive (or, arrange beforehand if you will be arriving late).
Bring £1 coins for the electricity meter. Bring DVDs or watch some of ours (our TV is intentionally not tuned in).
We had a wonderful short break at the cabin. Communication was all by e-mail and text, and Sam and Freya were extremely quick to respond to any questions. The cabin was well equipped, with a good range of book and DVDs to occupy us in the evenings. The kitchen had all we required to prepare or meals. We were very lucky to have extremely mild October weather and did not have to wrap up too much when at the cabin.
Daytimes were spent visiting the local area. A wonderful day on the beach at New Quay gave us the opportunity to watch dolphins and seals. Another great, windy day spent at Poppit Sands. The children loved the onsite playground. There were plenty more places we wanted to visit, but lacked time.
We had a great couple of days at the cabin and visiting West Wales. It's a great location for exploring the West Wales coast and towns. The cabin itself is really well equipped and is very charming. And there's lots of games and DVDs for the kids. Thank you.
This was such a great place to stay - the cabin had everything we needed and Sam and Freya were quick to answer any questions we had before we went. Lovely little retreat.
This cabin was perfect! It was described very well. The small holiday park was quiet and peaceful, the neighboring village had all the supplies you needed. Sam and Freya couldn't have been more thorough in their provided information. They were very easy to communicate with.
Instruction sent prior to the booking meant that whatever time we arrived, everything was set up & ready. As it happened, we arrived fairly late so having instructions through email & books in the room was great. The holiday village is amazing, quite a few people have holiday chalets there, so there's a really nice sense of community when your out & about. The on site park is brilliant & suits kids from 2 - 10 with the different size climbing frames & slides available. Also plenty of access to dog walking routes
routes. The local pub & town is only 1 mile away & gives you access to fishing spots, waterfalls, great walking routes, tea rooms, water sport activities & much more. Cabin itself was amazing, quite cold due to time of year but with the gas heater, electric blankets & other precautions taken, there was a lot available to help chase the chills away. Rooms are all a good size, bunk beds are amazing & the high windows make for a nice view out to the stars at night, with a lot of natural light through the day. Kitchen has all you need for a short break, there's also tvs with dvd player available with shelves full of movies, which was a great touch & a good way to spend a night while sitting wrapped up in front of the gas fire heater. Old record player also available with a collection of vinyls, the sign explaining to kids what this contraption was is a great touch :) all in all couldn't be happier, price was fantastic for what we had in return. If returning I would just remember to bring a onesie next time for the chilly mornings.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Our time was too limited to enjoy the offering in full - we arrived after dark and had to leave the next day.
We're Sam & Freya. We live in London, but we've had our little cabin in West Wales for three years, and it's the perfect getaway from city life. We love the area so much, we got married there in April 2013. We hope you'll enjoy staying there too.
