Cute retro cabin in West Wales

Cabin - Entire home/apt · Penlan Holiday Village, Carmarthenshire, SA38, United Kingdom

The Space

A mile from the village of Cenarth in Carmarthenshire, Cabin Ishbel is a cosy peaceful place to spend a long weekend or have a family holiday. It has three bedrooms - a double, a twin, and a bunk room - and can sleep 8 people as there are two more beds in the lounge.

The cabin has a well-equipped fitted kitchen, heaters in each room and an electric shower. From the kitchen and deck you can look over the Preseli hills while you have dinner, or a BBQ. The lounge is super cosy, with a stove to help keep the evening chills away.

Cabin Ishbel nestles in the trees on the edge of Penlan Holiday Village, a small family-run holiday park of Swiss-style lodges in a beautiful woodland setting. The park has a small shop, a bar, and an outdoor pool (in summer).

Cabin Ishbel is our home-away-from-home, we stay there ourselves several times a year; we even held our wedding here! The cabin is one of our favourite places to be and we'd love to have you come and visit.

The Neighborhood

About The Area...
Rural West Wales at its finest. A great launch pad for country walks, and the Pembrokeshire National Park just 10 miles away. The river Teifi runs through the village, with opportunities to kayak and fish. The nearest beach is 10 miles away, with all the gorgeous secluded beaches of the Ceredigion and Pembs coast lines to choose from.

Getting around

Getting Around...
You're in a rural location, so public transport is limited - the cabin is best reached by car. However, there is an hourly bus service, Mon-Sat only, which will take you between Cenarth and Cardigan, or Cenarth and Carmarthen (the nearest mainline train station).

Other Things to Note

How It Works...
The cabin is very much a self-service experience. We will send you a key code, and you let yourself in. Please provide your own bed linen (or hire it from the park reception at £6 per bed) and make your own beds when you arrive. And we ask you to leave the cabin clean and tidy, as how you leave it is how the next person will find it.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • We really enjoyed our stay in the cabin. It has a really homely feel, and we were made to feel welcome to use anything in the cabin. The children found the site great to explore, and it was well fenced off so we knew they would be fine to roam within its boundary. Good children's playpark and field to run about in. The cabin was a good size for the 6 of us.

  • Very enjoyable few days in Pembrokeshire, the cabin was very comfortable and also very well equipped. Plenty to do in the local area and with the choice of two very friendly local pubs what more could you ask for!

  • My family and I stayed at Sam & Freya's cabin last week. It was perfect for us, very cosy and much bigger than I expected. Located in a beautiful part of Wales - with lots of things to do, especially if the weather is good. In the evenings we had the gas stove on a played Monopoly! There is also an outside, heated pool 1 minute walk away. Sam was very good at sending us all the details and directions we needed and that cabin is full of maps and info about the local area. Thumbs up!

  • I have 500 words to review the cabin but I could use just one to convey my thoughts -- Wow! What a truly delightful place to stay Cabin Ishbel was. A true gem in a terrific part of West Wales! It comfortably hosts eight and truly is larger than you expect. The kitchen and living area are great places to hang out and the bedrooms are all comfy. Perhaps the highlight is the back deck, with it's spectacular view of a local wheat field. It's situated in a lovely holiday park, quiet and great for kids, with a play area and pool. The town of Cenarth nearby is quaint indeed, with The Three Horseshoes Inn serving up a terrific Sunday lunch. Further afield Cardigan is very nice and if its a sandy beach you seek then Poppit Sands easily fits the bill -- a lovely place. Newcastle Emlyn is minutes away from the cabin for all of your food shopping needs, plus a great kebeb shop if you so choose! All in all, our trip to the cabin totally exceeded our expectations - especially for the very reasonalbe price. Sam & Freya were excellent to communicate with - truly first class. I would not hesitate to recommend spending time at Cabin Ishbel any time of year. It's a true gem!

  • We truly enjoyed staying in this lovely cabin :) I think the pictures don't do justice to the cabin as it's much more spacious. Can't wait to come back.

  • Freya and Sam have a great cabin with all the essentials for a great get away from it all. Probably more suited to a group or family for value, it has laundry amenities on site as long as you have plenty of small change. It's great that they are prepared to share their cut retro cabin with others! We especially enjoyed visiting the iron age hill fort in the hills nearby and can thoroughly recommend "The 3 Horseshoes Inn" for great food. Thanks guys for a great stay.

  • Lovely cabin on a quiet site - great place for break from the city and close to lots of beautiful beaches and coastal walks. Sam and Freya have everything at the cabin that you might need and even if the weather is cold you can keep warm inside with the gas fire!

We're Sam & Freya. We live in London, but we've had our little cabin in West Wales for three years, and it's the perfect getaway from city life. We love the area so much, we got married there in April 2013. We hope you'll enjoy staying there too.
