I'm here to answer your questions, orient you to the neighborhood, the city and the bay area, but if you want total privacy, it's yours.
Bernal Heights has a walkability score of 86, meaning it's a very good place for those without cars. In less than two blocks, there's an all-day cafe at the corner of a park with casual full meal service; an organic grocery store; and an excellent restaurant. You can walk to the Valencia corridor, the Mission District, and on into the rest of the city or to the top of our hill in less than 10 minutes. The neighborhood is ethnically diverse, politically progressive and full of family life. It combines urban living and peaceful green space.
The closest bus stop is 1 1/2 short blocks from our house. It will link you to every bus in the city, to BART (the Bay Area Rapid Transit), the ferries and Cal-Train -to the rest of California. BART takes you directly to and from the airport. To use public transit, the best plan is to buy a Clipper card at a BART station. You can add money to it via a credit card or cash.
You can also use the bikes; and walking is easy to most places because we are in the flat area of the city.
And for back-up, you can take a taxi. I recommend Yellow Cab, online 24 hrs a day or ph(phone number hidden)

Our stay was wonderful, the studio is quiet, very clean, with a little terrace at the upper floor which allow you to drink, eat or sunbathe. we recommend you to begin your stay by climbing on the hill behind the house to have a great view over all SF. If you want to dinner closed to the studio, we recommend you appreciate Cafe.
Our host Nancy has given us all the information we need and is a caring person.
Great place to stay. Nancy was super helpful with checking in and advice for things to do. The place had everything you could want much better than a hotel. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful stay in San Francisco and the great luck to be Nancy’s guests. She is a warm hostess and helped us already with tips for trips and restaurants for travel planning. The apartment is very centrally located yet quiet and was the ideal starting point for our activities in and around San Francisco. The apartment is perfectly equipped. We have felt ourselves very well and can recommend it and the hostess warmly. Thank You Nancy.
My wife and I had a great time in Nancy's Victorian attic studio. The place was so tidy and cute and the perfect size for two people. The compact kitchen is adorable and has everything you'd need if you want to cook. The views of the city and garden are terrific. The location was very convenient and it's easy to get around the city. Although there is no dedicated off street parking, we never had a problem finding a space nearby. The neighborhood is charming and fun to explore on foot. A nice local cafe with delicious food is very nearby. The outside of the house was just being painted when we were there and the new color scheme looks terrific. This is a really cute flat and a great value. We will definitely recommend Nancy's place to friends and neighbors when they visit beautiful San Francisco!
I had such a great experience staying in the flat. Nancy was lovely and very helpful with directions and places to visit, and patiently answered all of my 101 questions before I even set foot in the country! I was stuck when the BART went on strike and Nancy very kindly picked me up from the Caltrain station. The flat has everything you need and is very comfortable, with a beautiful view over the city, especially in the evenings when the fog rolls in over the hills. It may seem on the map that the flat is situated further away from the main attractions, but it is easy for someone without a car to travel into somewhere like Union Square in no more than 25 minutes by bus, less if if you take the BART from 24th and Mission. I would definitely stay there again!
We had a great time in San Francisco! Thanks to Nancy. She is a welcoming and pleasant host, and her studio is picture perfect. You couldn't ask for anything cuter. The apartment was bright, warm, clean, and overall very charming. We had a hard time leaving... to even venture out to see the city! You just want to cozy up indoors with a good book. Great neighborhood, too.
Quiet and safe. We loved it and will definitely return when we visit again.
I had a great time staying at Nancy's and look forward to returning on a future trip. She is a wonderful host - organized, thoughtful, and gracious. The studio is perfect for one or two visitors - Quiet, spotlessly clean, with ample storage and amenities. The kitchen is small but well equipped and the neighborhood has two great cafes within a few blocks walk. The views are great and the garden is a delight!
For those who are not familiar with the north side of Bernal Hts, this house is close to the bottom of the hilly streets, convenient to buses, Bart and an easy walk to interesting neighborhoods. A 15 minute taxi ride gets you downtown or close to the marina district and access to the airport is very easy. I prefer not to bother with a car unless I have a reason to travel beyond San Francisco.
We had such an amazing time at Nancy's place! Her lovely apartment was very well situated, in a calm and friendly neighborhood, and the studio itself is furnished with everything you need. The little balcony sure is an appreciated bonus, as we spent all our mornings there to take our breafast, enjoying the view of the city. There are a lot of way to go downtown or anywherelse in the city (the Bay, the beach, the different neighborhoods...) and the stations are just a few blocks away from the apartment, but if i could give you one piece of advice, it would be to enjoy the bikes Nancy leaves there for the guests than taking the public transportation. It's way more enjoyable and doesn't take you that much time to go somewhere! :)
Thanks again Nancy for being such a great and helpful host! We appreciated our stay even more with you!
We stayed 4 nights at Nancy's studio while we were on our honeymoon. The studio was adorable and very clean. During our stay we enjoyed the awesome view from the patio and the privacy of staying here versus a hotel. Nancy was very welcoming and available to us if we needed anything. The location of the studio was also very ideal, within a 20 minute drive of anywhere we wanted to go but within a quiet, safe neighborhood. I would definitely recommend Nancy's studio as an excellent alternative to staying in a hotel.
Staying at Nancy's studio was perfect. It is in a great location, very close to the bus to go downtown. A little farther to get to BART, but if you're planning on exploring the city, you can get by with just the buses. The loft had tons of natural light coming in. We were there during a beautiful week weather-wise and had some really great views from the balcony and windows. Nancy was a wonderful host, she met us when we arrived and showed us the garden. We used some of the herbs and lemons in the garden throughout the week. The kitchen had everything we needed, which was great. The organic market a couple blocks away had anything else we wanted. Nancy was sure to ask if we needed anything whenever we saw her, which I thought was really sweet. For a first time airbnb experience, this place was perfect! Could not have asked for a better stay.
