The lake is located a few steps from our place, you can catch the bus just crossing the street. Our neighbors are other hotels and restaurants.
Las Gardenias is a tidy, clean hotel. It is a little spartan, but there is hot water and it is positioned quite strategically. It is reasonably close to Tikal and there are minivans that will take you there. It is also within an easy 20-minute walk from beaches on a fresh-water lake. The lake looks a little suspicious in town itself, but once you walk (or take a bus) toward Gringo Perdido, there are neat little beaches and the water is crystal clear. There was Wi-Fi, but the service was a little spotty. The folks who work there are super-nice and go out of their to accommodate travelers. An overall positive, no-frills experience. Would stay there again!

Delmy was so helpful with arranging transport and tour to Tikal, as well as a bus back to Belize City. She also helped us find an ATM and answered our questions about the town. It was a great base from which we could explore Tikal, and the restaurant next door is great too.
We stayed at Delmy's "Las Gardenias" for 2 nights and had a great time there. We organized our trips to Tikal and Belize City at a travel agency in Flores, but you can also do that at Delmy's which we did not know before.
El Remate is a really small town at the lake Petén-Itzá, but it is a lot closer to Tikal than Flores so that you can sleep a little longer until you get picked up for your tour.
The restaurant which belongs to the hotel is good and cheap snd there are also some other restaurants close to Las Guardenias.
It is especially important to mention how helpful Delmy was when our travel agency did not pick us up... she took care about that for us. That was really great!!
This hotel/bed and breakfast was convenient as it is right on the road to Tikal Everyone was very friendly and helpful. A very economical option for staying in El Remate. In the future, if we went back, we probably wouldn't go through Airbnb, since there was plenty of availability and ended up paying a bit more to go through the Airbnb system.
Great spot - Tikal was definitely worth seeing. Bring bus spray and shoes for a long walk.
Delmy gets bonus points for helping me setup my cell phone!
Delmy was very nice and helpful. The hotel is beautiful and clean. The ratio between price and quality is fair. Besides, El Remate has an extraordinary location, at the shores of the Petén Itza Lake. If you have time, it would perfect to stay here for one or two days to enjoy the view, swim in the lake or in the pools of the restaurants in front of it. I really reccomend Delmy's hotel.
Delmy is one of the nicest person what I have met in whole Guatemal and the accomodation is very clean and peacefull with very nice garden where you can meet colibri birds.
I would like to recommend Delemy's place in 100%.
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It has everything you need - the room we stayed in had A/C, a comfortable bed and private bathroom. The hotel has a restaurant attached with plenty of great and cheap meals to choose from and the hotel can organise tours to Tikal and transportation to elsewhere for you. There are gorgeous views of the lake in this sleepy town. We highly recommend this place.
This place was great and Delmy was an absolute gem! We arrived well after the 9:00 p.m. closing time and Delmy was still there waiting for us to arrive. We also had no internet or phone service so we were unable to contact Delmy and let her know our situation. Yet, she was still available after-hours and very helpful upon our arrival. She was beyond nice and accommodating. My fiancé' and I really appreciated her hospitality and very much enjoyed our stay. El Remate (the village this hotel is located in) is a great place to stay if you want something a little less touristy than Flores and also something a little bit closer to Tikal. I would definitely stay there again. Four thumbs up from me and my fiancé'!
