About This Listing
Large double room with 5ft bed, overlooking our back garden on a quiet residential road, with fast wifi and a cute dog called Gatsby. Easy 7 mins to the tube for getting into town, with local restaurants/bars and the Tooting Common all close by.
Our large double room in Tooting Bec awaits. Right near the tube (Northern Line) a lovely big park/common and great bars and coffee shops.
Newly decorated, very comfortable double room in our renovated Edwardian terraced house. The room has lots of space and is quiet as it overlooks the garden of the property.
There's a 5ft bed, lots of storage and an old pine desk in the window. Right next door there's your own tiled bathroom with a powerful modern shower.
We've just completed the finishing touches to the rest of the house - a big open plan kitchen/dining room, wood burning stove and a deck for sunny days. We also like to collect odd bits of art which are scattered round the house.
We have a weekly cleaner so the place is always nice & clean and high speed 50mbs WiFi.
It's a 5 minute walk to Tooting Bec tube which will get you into central London in about 20 minutes. Bus at the end of the road will take you straight into town too. Street parking is free after 4.30 mon to fri and at weekends.
We'd love to make your stay in London as enjoyable as possible - we've got lots of recommendations from art galleries, to restaurants to the cheapest place to get a theatre ticket.
There's tea at the ready and plenty of milk in the fridge.
See you soon!

Interaction with Guests
We would expect to see / bump into each other in the evening. We are out a lot and very busy during the day.
We live on the boundary of Tooting Bec and Balham, there's a few lovely cafes, our favourite, 'Dee Light' Bakery, is a 12 min walk away. Closer, just around the corner, the 'Kitchen Table' is one of our regular haunts for a Sunday brunch
At the end of the road our local pub - The Wheatsheaf got a great makeover 6 months back - they have comedy nights and music. Balham is great for bars and Tooting has some of the best Curries in London.
2 minutes away is Tooting Bec Common where you'll also find the largest outdoor pool in Europe (apparently) - The Lido. It's cold, but a must!
... and on a more practical note there is a Sainsbury's local supermarket 3 minutes from our door.
Tooting Bec underground station is a 4 minute walk. The station is on the Northern line and you'll get into central London within 20 minutes. There is also a bus stop at the end of our road which takes you towards Chelsea.
Ash works from home so we'd prefer it if you can be out during the day. We are flexible though.
We would prefer no noise late at night after 11pm during the week.
You will have free use of the kitchen and dining room and seating area. Our pretty garden which has seating if the weather is nice.
We expect you to keep the place tidy as you would your own place.
Your room - spacious - 4x5 metres, quiet (it overlooks the back garden), and cosy! Wardrobe and chest of drawers for your things and a writing desk to muse over a notepad and the view.
I had a wonderful time staying with Ashley and Justine and their adorable dog, Gatsby! They made me feel very welcome and I felt totally at ease in their company. The location was perfect for getting to and fro, with the Northern Line about a 6 min walk and a good service bus stop at the bottom of the road. There is a Sainsbury's very close that stays open till 11pm. The room was big and the bed was very comfortable and I pretty much had private use of the family bathroom. I was given free use of the kitchen equipment and could cook if I wanted to (not that I was ever in much during the evenings and I was out most days). I spent a lovely 5 weeks in Tooting Bec and would not hesitate in recommending this as a great place to stay. Ashley and Justine are the perfect hosts!
I had a great stay at Ashley and Justine's place. They are really friendly, laid back and helpful. Their house is really nice and the room is huge, clean and comfortable. You have access to your own bathroom which is also great. Highly recommended!
Really nice, well kept house in a quiet area. Both Ashley and Justine are a very relaxed and chilled couple who will make you feel very welcome in their house. You get pretty much your own bathroom and use of their well equipped kitchen and living room. Would certainly recommend them!
I stayed with Ashley and Justine during the week before I was due to have (email hidden) George's hospital. I was also suffering from a cold and overall things could have been very stressful, but they were the perfect hosts! Ashley and Justine were both helpful and polite, but completely non-intrusive. The room itself was a nice size, clean and comfortable, and the bathroom being right next door was great. Location wise it was fine - only a brisk 10 minute walk to the tube station or the pubs and restaurants of Tooting and Balham. Would definitely recommend!
I miss my Tooting Bec family already. This includes the dog, Gatsby. I was made to feel right at home from the minute I arrived until the second I left. Next time I'm back to visit I hope the room is still available for me!!!
Really enjoyed my stay with Ash and Justine, so booked another 2 weeks with Ash and Justine. Lovely house, lots of space with easy commute in to London. Ash and Justine are easy to get on with and a very friendly couple.
Our stay with Ash and Justine has been great, they are easy going and nice couple to stay with. The accomodation is very spacious with a lovely kitchen and garden. The underground is a couple of minutes away, making it easy to get into central London. The location is also great for jogging in the park.
