Charming, spacious, light room in artistically decorated flat opposite Victoria Park in London's fashionable East End. 15 mins walk from Bethnal Green and Mile End tubes. Close to Broadway Market, Brick Lane and other cool areas.
I have a double sofa bed available in my large living room in my East London Flat. The room has a TV and stereo, and guests will have private use of the room. Bed linen and towels are provided. There is Wifi. The sofa bed can accommodate a single guest or a couple.
Spacious, peaceful, tastefully and artistically decorated, one-bedroom flat on top two floors of lovely Victorian townhouse overlooking Victoria Park in East London. The flat is full of light, has great views both back and front, and has a calm atmosphere.
Please note, the flat is in an old Victorian house with old furnishings and is a little lived-in although we keep it clean and tidy; if you are the kind of person who wants things to be brand new like a chain hotel, then this place may not be for you. Most people appreciate its bohemian charm but occasionally people don't get it.
Large modern kitchen. Large bathroom with shower and bath.
Washing machine, TV, wi-fi internet and stereo.
Right in the middle of east London but it's not too gritty and feels v gentrified; I live opposite Victoria Park, so the neighbourhood feels safe, quiet and family-friendly but you are in the midst of all the cool hang-outs. 15 mins walk from Bethnal Green tube. 15 mins walk from Mile End tube. 20 min walk along canal to fashionable Broadway Market. 5 min walk to Victoria Park village with its chic independent shops, nice restaurants and bars. 10 min bus ride to the cool bars, shops and restaurants of Brick Lane and Spitalfields and Old Street. 15 min tube ride to Oxford Street and central London.
£45 per night for single occupancy. Extra £10 for the second guest (ie £55 per night total).
Guests will have access to the kitchen and bathroom.
Interaction with Guests
I interact as much or as little as guests want to interact. I will generally be present during guests' stay but I'm often out at work or out in the evening. Am happy to chat if you want to, or if you want to do your own thing, that's fine. I'm always available for advice about the local area, transport links or whatever.
This is one of the most lively and coolest neighbourhoods in London - it's bursting with creativity and interesting (and often cheap) things to do. It's also really pretty and green with Victoria Park, Mile End Park and nearby London Fields.
Guests should definitely visit Broadway Market on a Saturday and also Brick Lane.
Bethnal Green and Mile End tubes are 10/15 mins walk away, and central London is about 15 mins from Bethnal Green tube. There are loads of buses. I can advise on getting around - easier to explain in person than on this website.
I need to have photocopies of your passport to give to my landlord.
No smoking in the house, although you can smoke out of the window.
I stayed in the house of Rowena and Martin for five nights.
"make it your self at home." and I did. I felt welcome and free in the room and to make use of the kitchen, the bathroom and the stereo.
The view on the park was beautiful. The unexpectedly meal on Friday was great. Nice to sit at the table with you en hear something about the development of London. I liked it much to be there and enjoy to look back. Again: thanks a lot for your hospitality!
Un accueil très chaleureux et un endroit très agréable pour découvrir Londres. Rowena est adorable, et son appartement est situé dans un quartier passionnant! Si j'habitais à Londres, c'est la que je m'installerais :-)
Our staying was amazing. At the arrival Rowena receipted us very well and showed up our room and also gave good advices and some maps to visit the city. She was very nice and attentions. The room was clean and very comfortable. The room's views through the windows was really beautiful. The neighborhood is quiet, charming and very pleasant. We had our privacy and met Rowena just a few times on the kitchen. The bathroom is also very clean. We took just 10 min by walking to the tube station. If you want You can also use the buses line (it's really fast) and pretty close. We really do recommend to stay there. It'll help you to enjoy your stay in London.
Lovely light room just in front of the park:) the area around has a lovely atmosphere and the underground is not that far away! The couple were really sweet and welcoming, we didn't have that much time so we just saw them a few times.. I would recommend this place!
My friend and I spent two nights at Rowena's. We both think it was great! When we arrived we were shown around the flat, so we knew where everything was. Both Rowena and her boyfriend were nice, though we didn't get to talk much to them besides in the morning, as we we're out.
The room is nice and cozy with a view over Victoria park. The flat is nicely located i terms of underground and busses. We mainly used the underground from Bethnal Green, which is just about 10 minutes walk form the flat.
There was a lot of communication between us and Rowena, before we arrived, which was good in terms of arranging when we arrived and how we could get from the airport to London.
Thank you, Rowena, for a nice place to stay during our stay.
Rowena and Martin are very kind, the room is comfortable and nice, the view is great on Victoria Park.
I had really good time at Rowena and Martin's place during my stay. They were both super friendly and nice. The contact was prompt and smooth, although I just booked the room a day before I've arrived.
The house is a classic London style row house, it's not new, but it's give it the charm. The room and the whole house is spacious and very clean and also very bright. I got the huge living room on the first floor with a comfortable, good size bed, the window faced to a lake in Victoria Park, giving a beautiful view. I also had full access to the kitchen and the bathroom as well. The internet was fast and worked mostly pretty well, only had one short gap in the 4 days I've been there.
It still was an issue with the shower, but to take a bath in the tub in the huge and bright bathroom has compensated it and Rowena mentioned it before I've booked the room.
The area is pretty good as well, nice breakfast place just at the lake in the park, a lovely pub just around the corner, Roman street market about 5 min walking and you could find one of the best burgers in London in about 10 min walk. It also pretty close to the city and to Canary Wharf.
I highly recommend it and pretty sure I'll come back to stay some time.
I'm a writer - have published a book of short stories set in Montreal - and am currently finishing a novel. I work part-time as a secretary at the House of Commons and I also teach creative writing. I have lived in London since 2001 but I grew up in the West Midlands. I don't have any children (yet). My boyfriend, Martin, is a fisherman off the south coast of England, near Brighton but mainly lives with me here.
Thailand is one of my most favourite travel destinations - Martin & I went there a few years ago. I also love America, France & Spain. And the west coast of Ireland.
I love swimming outdoors anywhere, lying in the sun, reading, snorkelling, walking, eating new and interesting food & trying to cook it back home.
I like quirky, out of the way places, that are relaxed, low-key and down-to-earth. I'm not really interested in glitz or glamour and like to engage with local culture & food; I'm a big foodie.
