Interaction with Guests
I am happy to make breakfast or even dinner where I can arrange a menu but need to know that ahead of time. (Dinner would have to be an extra fee). Feel free to come and go as you please. I have a busy life so if you are off and running have a great time but I am happy to settle you in, chat and inform you about the area etc.
The neighborhood of Campbell Hill Farm is a quiet, rural community with a dairy farm right down the road adjacent to a winery that is open during the summer months. Peep frogs in the spring and crickets during summer months will lull you to sleep.
You need a car.

No smoking or loud music please.
My husband and I stayed 3 nights at Campbell Hill. Eleanor was very welcoming, open and attentive but not intrusive and Topper, her Pomeranian, took a while to warm up to us but eventually quieted down. We felt right at home. The room was cool and comfy on the hottest days even without air conditioning. It's a beautiful house and just as it was represented in the listing. Rustic and rural but very close to major roads and attractions (like Foxwoods, if your into that sort of thing) and wineries. Eleanor's mom bakes for her guests. We were treated to a tasty blueberry crumble. Yum! Would not hesitate to return.
Eleanor's home is even nicer than the picture. It was a very unusual house, inside and out. The setting was what drew me in to checking out this listing.
Eleanor was at the house to greet us when we arrived. She spent some time chatting with us about her home and the area. She gave us some suggestions for places to visit which we followed up on and they were just fine. She also had some brochures about the area available for us to read and that is always helpful.
Soon after our arrival, Eleanor offered us a wonderful treat-coffee and a delicious coffee cake that her mother had made. It was such a nice gesture. She also told us what her plans for the day would be and
when she would be available which I thought was very considerate.
I think what I appreciated most was that Eleanor was helpful and friendly and seemed to be genuinely pleased to have us as her guests.
Eleanor was friendly in a very lovely way -- completely accessible but not intrusive. She clearly enjoys having visitors and made us feel very welcome. Her house is situated at the end of a twisting little road, with flowers and birds everywhere.
Eleanor was a wonderful hostess, and her home and property were just lovely. As the photos show, her house is both cozy and unique, and is filled with art and fascinating antiques. All of the flowering cherry, apple, and lilacs were in bloom, which made it even more delightful. She has couple of outdoor cats and a small dog that were great company, and she has a small stable, so I was even able to bring my horse along for the trip. ( the stable is a short walk from the house, and immaculately kept, so no horse farm smell) The room and bathroom were spacious and very clean, and it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in . A wonderful night's rest in beautiful surroundings!
Eleanor was very welcoming and accommodating. She was engaging, friendly and generous with her time. She lives in a very beautiful, comfortable, and unique home, and has created many community connections around her.

Campbell hill farm is a gem! The property is absolutely gorgeous consisting of a unique home as well as a barn with horses, plants etc. It is located in a nice and quiet area, yet still very close to entertainment (we were attending a wedding near Foxwoods and it was about a 10-15 min drive). The house is spacious, clean and comfortable which is exactly what we were looking for!
Eleanor was very welcoming from the moment we arrived. She let us basically come and go as needed, and even made us blueberry pancakes in the morning! We had a lovely morning of great food, conversation and even a walk throughout her property! It must also be said that we also enjoyed Eleanor's dog, Topper, adorable and sweet, he made us smile!
I have to say that being new to airbnb my husband and I were not sure what to expect, but Eleanor made it a positive experience and we would definitely use the service again!
About the Host, Eleanor
One of my favorite things to do is host dinner parties for my friends and family. Being creative in the kitchen is a lot of fun for me. So I can only imagine that this will pass on to hosting for airbnb travelers.
I have been a professional artist for 20 years and my work is shown in galleries around the country. My studio is here on the property. Its the best of both worlds to be working and living in a place that you love. The ambience of nature is a constant inspiration. This farm also has an ancestral connection for me and I have found myself feeling very grounded here over the years. This connection brings meaning and an intrinsic quality to my work and my life. For those visitors who have serious interest in the arts I would be happy to arrange a studio visit.
My animals are also a big part of my life. The dogs, cats and animals at the barn bring an added dimension to daily life.
