Eleanor was a wonderful hostess, and her home and property were just lovely. As the photos show, her house is both cozy and unique, and is filled with art and fascinating antiques. All of the flowering cherry, apple, and lilacs were in bloom, which made it even more delightful. She has couple of outdoor cats and a small dog that were great company, and she has a small stable, so I was even able to bring my horse along for the trip. ( the stable is a short walk from the house, and immaculately kept, so no horse farm smell) The room and bathroom were spacious and very clean, and it was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in . A wonderful night's rest in beautiful surroundings!
Eleanor was very welcoming and accommodating. She was engaging, friendly and generous with her time. She lives in a very beautiful, comfortable, and unique home, and has created many community connections around her.

Campbell hill farm is a gem! The property is absolutely gorgeous consisting of a unique home as well as a barn with horses, plants etc. It is located in a nice and quiet area, yet still very close to entertainment (we were attending a wedding near Foxwoods and it was about a 10-15 min drive). The house is spacious, clean and comfortable which is exactly what we were looking for!
Eleanor was very welcoming from the moment we arrived. She let us basically come and go as needed, and even made us blueberry pancakes in the morning! We had a lovely morning of great food, conversation and even a walk throughout her property! It must also be said that we also enjoyed Eleanor's dog, Topper, adorable and sweet, he made us smile!
I have to say that being new to airbnb my husband and I were not sure what to expect, but Eleanor made it a positive experience and we would definitely use the service again!
Wonderful and just what we were looking for!
My husband and I were in need of a place to stay this weekend for one night after sightseeing in the nearby town of Mystic. I contacted Eleanor because I was really interested in her listing after seeing the pictures of her beautiful home. She responded right away and answered all of the questions I had. We booked our stay for this past weekend and we were really happy with our stay. She greeted us warmly when we arrived and talked with us (well me, since my husband is not as chatty as I am) and I was pleased to see that she was really nice and had a cool personality. Her Pomeranian, Topper was there to great us as well and is absolutely adorable! Her home was very clean and our room was comfortable and came with a over sized bathroom. She was totally flexible with our "wake up" time and made us breakfast in the morning (yummy French toast!) Her home is an awesome artistic retreat full of cool artifacts and beautiful paintings (she's an artist too!) located on 20 acres of greenery. Another neat thing about her home is that it is near a bunch of attractions but is still quiet. The home is 15 min away from both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, 20 minutes from Mystic and right next door to a winery!
In all we were very happy with our quiet little getaway and I would def recommend Eleanor's home to anyone!

Our stay at Eleanor's farm was great. Her property is a complete gem, I see now why she treasures it so much. Beautiful fields, barn, horses, orchards, all naturally kept and a fitting home ... and she is a wonderful person to match it all. Wish we could have stayed longer.
If your looking for beauty, peace, nature and good Karma in CT then this is your place. Thanks Eleanor, Dirk
Staying with Eleanor for the weekend was nothing less than idyllic. At the spur of the moment, my boyfriend and I decided we needed to get away from the bustle of the big city, and Eleanor was kind enough to let us book last minute – something she certainly didn’t have to do given the suggested contact times outlined in her profile. An easy drive from NYC, Eleanor’s farm is tucked away next to an apple orchard with no shortage of gorgeous trees, flowers, and plants – not to mention a host of fauna including two horses, a Shetland pony, two relaxed cats, and one energetic Pomeranian, Topper. Staying at the farm was like slipping into another world, given life in The Big Apple frequently, and ironically, leaves one without much greenery to take in.
Eleanor was a gracious and easygoing host, welcoming us into her home and giving us the freedom to just come and go as we pleased – we never felt like we were in the way, and this allowed both my boyfriend and I to relax without the discomfort that comes from feeling like awkward “guests” in another’s home. Welcoming and laid-back, Eleanor put us both at ease from the start, and we really valued the fact that she could appreciate our need for a quiet retreat after long work weeks. Her sensitivity to our hopes for the weekend was obvious; we had space to catch up just us two, but didn’t feel ignored, all the while having easy conversation with our hostess without feeling overly attended to. It was the perfect balance of together and solo time for us.
The home is clean, tidy and charming to say the least, uniquely decorated, cozy (but provided plenty of room for all three of us), and our bedroom was comfortable, with usage of our own big bathroom right next to it. Our room was furnished with a big bed (nearly a king, I think), nightstand, lamps, mirror and ceiling fan – which provided a lovely breeze at night. The quiet was just delicious, and falling asleep to the soft hum of peepers and crickets, calming. We could sleep in without concern, and this was a total treat. Each morning Eleanor offered to make us hot breakfasts, but we were happy to have our fill of her homemade zucchini bread, fresh fruits and orange juice. Lovely snacks of fresh bread, oil, herbs, and wine awaited us when we came home from visiting nearby Mystic. Eleanor’s connection to the local vineyards provided us some wonderful introductions to new varieties.
It was truly a pleasure meeting Eleanor and staying with her. I would highly recommend her home to anyone looking for an easy weekend to decompress; we enjoyed walking the grounds and reconnecting to the natural surroundings, then taking short drives when we wanted the diversion of the small towns. At Campbell Farm, you can be as busy or as free as you like, and we will definitely be back!
About the Host, Eleanor
One of my favorite things to do is host dinner parties for my friends and family. Being creative in the kitchen is a lot of fun for me. So I can only imagine that this will pass on to hosting for airbnb travelers.
I have been a professional artist for 20 years and my work is shown in galleries around the country. My studio is here on the property. Its the best of both worlds to be working and living in a place that you love. The ambience of nature is a constant inspiration. This farm also has an ancestral connection for me and I have found myself feeling very grounded here over the years. This connection brings meaning and an intrinsic quality to my work and my life. For those visitors who have serious interest in the arts I would be happy to arrange a studio visit.
My animals are also a big part of my life. The dogs, cats and animals at the barn bring an added dimension to daily life.
