About this listing
For peace and quiet and nice comfortable bed, whether a quick overnight or a weekend stay, Campbell Hill Farm is a wonderful retreat from the busy world.
Campbell Hill Farm is a unique setting for guests to stay while seeing the sites and traveling through New England. The house is a ten sided rustic/contemporary set into a bucolic hillside with views that offer the comfort and quiet of country life. Your stay here would afford you the privacy of your own bath and bedroom with a very comfy king size bed.
Stroll the grounds in the evening, relax on the deck or enjoy an evening out for dinner at some the best restaurants around at the local casinos or drive to the coast for fresh seafood.
Breakfast can be served in the spacious dining room that overlooks woods and fields, in my comfy rustic kitchen or out on the deck under the great oak tree. There will be 2 or 3 choices for breakfast. Either way you will find yourself feeling at home here. You will meet my Pomeranian and one cat. Horses are boarded here at my barn and are nice to look at but the owners prefer that guests do not intermingle. Certainly you can walk to barn to see them and bring a carrot.
If you want to stay and see what south eastern CT has to offer there is Mystic Seaport, Village and Aquarium 1/2 hour away, Mohegan Sun Casino, Foxwoods Casino and Mashantucket Pequot Musem not more than 8 miles away which offer a variety dining and entertainment , or drive down to the Rhode Island shore for beaches and more. There the CT wine trail with Preston Ridge Vineyard right next door and Maugle Sierra VIneyard 15 minutes away and several others at nearby locations, the 18 hole River Ridge Golf Course less than 6 miles away. However if you are coming to simple get away for a day or two to rest you will find the house quiet and relaxing. There is wifi and Deluxe Scrabble. I you decide to stream movies off my wifi there is a $10 charge. It uses up my space and I get charged for it.
Those of you interested in the fine arts can arrange a studio visit if so inclined. My studio is here on the property where I paint professionally (see sample photo). My work is represented by galleries around the country, has been in museum shows and is in many prestigious collections.
So please get in touch with any questions you may have and I will do my best to accommodate you on your visit to Campbell Hill Farm and make it a pleasant experience.
One weeks advance notice would be appreciated.
Private bathroom, the deck, and comfortable living space indoors.
Interaction with guests
I am happy to make breakfast or even dinner where I can arrange a menu but need to know that ahead of time. (Dinner would have to be an extra fee). Feel free to come and go as you please. I have a busy life so if you are off and running have a great time but I am happy to settle you in, chat and inform you about the area etc.
The neighborhood of Campbell Hill Farm is a quiet, rural community with a dairy farm right down the road adjacent to a winery that is open during the spring/summer/early fall months. Peep frogs in the spring and crickets during summer months will lull you to sleep.
You need a car.
Other things to note
As a footnote I can offer also a twin size air-mattress for an extra fee of $50 per nite. Comfortable for kids or adult. This can be discussed upon booking and I can add the fee upon request.
Pets are a possibility but the arrangements must be discussed in advance. Not all situations are acceptable but I am willing to listen to what your needs are.
I also have access to a fantastic massage therapist who would bring her table here to the house. This would require an appointment with her so you'd have to check with me first and see if she is available.
Respect the house and the house will respect you. Please be clean, quiet and courteous.
No smoking or loud music please.
One of my favorite things to do is host dinner parties for my friends and family. Being creative in the kitchen is a lot of fun for me. So I can only imagine that this will pass on to hosting for airbnb travelers.
I have been a professional artist for 20 years and my work is shown in galleries around the country. My studio is here on the property. Its the best of both worlds to be working and living in a place that you love. The ambience of nature is a constant inspiration. This farm also has an ancestral connection for me and I have found myself feeling very grounded here over the years. This connection brings meaning and an intrinsic quality to my work and my life. For those visitors who have serious interest in the arts I would be happy to arrange a studio visit.
My animals are also a big part of my life. My dog and cat and animals at the barn bring an added dimension to daily life.
