Country charm close to water. Two acres on a dead-end lane, 0.4 miles from lake, 3 miles from stunning Nauset or Skaket Beaches. Waterfront conservation area, 200 yards. Enchanting, simple, comfortable, well equipped. Get away from the crowds.

The Space

Our charming and expansive custom-built 4 bedroom, 3 bath house sits on two private acres along a private peninsular lane, two houses from waterfront.

Walk to "The River"inlet (0.3 mi.) and Crystal Lake (0.4 mi). One mile to Pilgrim Lake. Three miles to spectacular Nauset Beach or Skaket Beach, and four miles to the big gorgeous lakes of Nickerson State Park.

A little-known conservation area with a mile of waterfront is across the road and has a small beach (0.4 mi) on an inlet -- access by foot or bike only. Deeded access to Frostfish Cove (0.2 mi) for launching your kayak.

A large (400 sq. foot) mahogany elevated deck at the rear of the house is equipped with a large table and a lounge area. Great for watching birds (and there are many in our large, well-wooded yard) and the occasional wild turkey, deer or fox.

Warm solid oak hardwood floors, and lots of nice details like stained glass, wood paneling, tiles and beams.

Total beds: One queen, two full, and four single beds in four bedrooms. Sleeps nine.

High-speed WiFi internet and flat-panel cable TV. The house is immaculate.

Three bedrooms upstairs. The master suite has a queen bed, en-suite full bath, and a large dressing room with window that can also serve as a child's bedroom. Bassinet available.

There are two additional bedrooms on the second floor. One with a full-size brass bed, the other with two single beds. Also on the second floor is a second full bath with shower.

All upstairs bedrooms have A/C. Fans also provided.

The first floor has a large bedroom with full bath next door. There also is a large living room, dining room, and large open kitchen with a dining nook. The bedroom and kitchen open onto the large 400 sq. ft. rear deck which has a barbecue, two dining tables with umbrellas, and a lounge area.

The kitchen has been updated and is very well equipped for culinary artistry. New five-burner electric stove with convection oven. New refrigerator. Dishwasher, heavy duty washing machine, dryer and other appliances in excellent condition.

There is a long covered farmer's porch along the front of the house.

A barn (this once was a small farm) and many trees complete the atmosphere of rural relaxation on a country lane by the sea (Sorry, the barn and fireplaces are off limits except for long-term renters)

Acres of woods behind our house. We are two houses away from waterfront; and 150 yards to our deeded access to The Namequoit River, an inlet of Pleasant Bay where you can launch your kayak, canoe or sailboat. Larger boats can be launched at boat ramp 0.5 miles away.

Just two miles to the town center with all amenities including excellent supermarkets, boutiques and some of the best restaurants on Cape Cod.

A great place for families, artists, and people who want to escape the crowds yet be close to the beaches and nature, and enjoy peace and privacy in a lovely and well-maintained year-round home.

  • David's place in Alphabet City is very good place if you are lucky enough to get it. He is a practical and thoughtful host, e.g. leaving lots of empty closet shelf and refrigerator space for guests. The rooms are airy, pleasant, comfortable, and functional.

We had a very nice stay and a rare feeling of "home" the entire two weeks. The place is very well-situated and clean, with a peaceful atmosphere that is so unusual for short-term rentals. In fact, I removed my earplugs at night just so I could hear the nature sounds outside--weird right? The apartment is just like the photos, with lots of fresh air, and those birds (website hidden)ing with the the dawn. David was available by email and phone, but because he took care of every detail beforehand we never needed anything.

  • My husband and I had a fantastic stay in David's apartment. It was fantastically clean in a really nice apartment building with a lift (which was a real treat). The apartment was very comfortable - great bed, lovely shower, comfy sofa and fully equipped kitchen. The apartment is in a quiet street very close to the bustling area of East Village. East Village is a really great place to hang out with loads of cool bars and fantastic restaurants. We really couldn't have been happier with our experience of staying at David's apartment and he was a great host.

  • We had a really pleasant stay at David's apartment. The location is great, very close to Saint Mark's place, and ideal to discover Manhattan by walk. The apartment was very clean and functional, with spacious living room and large windows. It was also very quiet and full of light. Would definitely come back for a next trip !

  • I stayed with my boyfriend at David's apt for 17 days. We had an amazing time in NYC, and the apartment was perfect. I can't find enough words to express how great it was for us to be able to stay at his place. The flat es beautiful (just as the pictures), super clean, sunlight and trees through the windows, and equipped with everithing you need. The bed and pillows are remarkably confortable! We felt really confortable and happy there, it's got a peaceful atmosphere and we felt as we where in our own home, just as the prevous guests have said.

David is a great host, always in touch by email when we needed, very kind, polite and caring.

The neighbourhood is also amazing, full of life, bars and things to do. The good thing is that the apartment is in a quiet beautiful street, 2 blocks apart from the noise. We fell in love with Tompkins Square Park, beautiful and mythical place in NYC.

I hope we go bak to NYC soon and would love to stay in David's house again.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! and best wishes!

  • We stayed at David's place for almost three weeks and the whole experience was great. The apartment is just perfect: clean, super silent, confortable, nicely decorated and perfectly equiped with great chairs and a confortable coach, fast wifi and even a great soundsystem that mac users can use to stream their misic wireless. The area is simply great, full of restaurants, shops and a supermarket and a Laundry just around the corner. And of course the great Tompkins Park right there to lay in the grass if the weather is nice. And last but not least David was a magnificent host. He was super nice with us, helpful and comunicative and always ready for us with a nice recomendation. We totally recomend this apartment / host!

  • David is an outstanding host with a beautiful place in the heart of Alphabet City and close to the East Village.
It's a quiet apartment in a nice building with all the amenities you'll need for a wonderful stay in the city.
For me, a quiet place and good closet space is essential for my longer stays and David's place doesn't disappoint, thankfully.

  • It's hard to believe, but this apartment in a vibey neighbourhood really is quiet. David was very easy to deal with and always available for us. There is plenty of information on the city available, the apartment is well cared for and clean and has everything you could need. I would definitely recommend this place.

  • I stayed at David's place for (11) days spanning end of June to early July 2012. The pictures showcasing David's place are totally accurate; it is a bright, clean, well-maintained apartment. The apartment had a good flow & a decent amount of space - considering it is a NY apartment. there are also lots of amenities inside the space - full kitchen, full refrigerator, cable TV, stereo, DVD/CD, open closet & cabinet space, spacious bathroom, onsite laundry - that I found to be of great benefit in making the space feel like I was "home" and not just "staying at someone's place.".
The location of the place is also very cool - in the middle of the vibrant East Village neighborhood, so there are lots of restaurants, markets & bars to enjoy. There's also a park nearby!
Access to subway line does require a 10 - 15 minute walk depending on which line you need; there are a couple of closer bus stops that I found useful.
All in all, you can't go wrong with this place. Best suited for a single or a couple

  • Had a awesome time in the East Village. The apartment was clean, well comfortable, quiet (I didn't expect to be waking up to the birds chirping in Manhattan) yet in a bustling location, loads to do, see and eat just minutes walk away. David is a great host, very responsive and thoughtful! Highly recommend staying at David's place.
