Our quiet studio cottage is located in the Lakeshore/Grand Ave area of Oakland. The neighborhood is safe and beautiful and the cottage is neat and easily accessible. There is a large bright main room and a spacious bathroom that was recently updated. The cottage includes a mini kitchen. The location is close to downtown Oakland, Berkeley and San Francisco.

The space
Our cottage is a separate building in a private lovely yard behind our main house.

Although there is plenty of parking on our street our guests park in the driveway. If you have bikes we also have a large shed to secure them.

The stand-alone cottage has a bright spacious main room, a large updated bathroom, and a mini kitchen which includes a small refrigerator, a toaster oven, a sink, a water boiler, and a microwave. There is a good sized table to work at or to eat a comfortable meal.

The property is ringed by large eucalyptus and redwood trees, which creates a quiet and unique setting. Guests sometimes like to lay out their Yoga mats and enjoy the privacy of the yard. Please make yourself comfortable on your private patio.

Guests have access to a barbecue and can use our washer and dryer if arranged first.

Other things to note
The bed is a queen size and there is also a comfortable rollaway bed that guests can use if requested. We have an outside sitting area only used by folks staying in the cottage. All the fruits and vegetables growing next to the cottage are yours to share.

We are very close to everything a traveler or business person could need. Plenty of grocery stores, great variety of restaurants, pharmacies, cleaners and tons of entertainment. Getting to San Francisco could not be easier. The Oakland Airport is close and UC Berkeley is only a few miles away.

Neighborhood highlights

I have lived in the area for almost 40 years. Nearby are plenty of excellent restaurants, the Grand Lake Movie Theater, quality grocery stores and good public transportation. We are located 5 minutes from downtown Oakland, 15 minutes from UC Berkeley, less than 20 minutes from the Oakland airport, and not much further to San Francisco. On Saturdays we have one of the best farmers markets in the Bay Area and it is only a 10 minute walk from our home. If you like to hangout at the cottage there is plenty of room to stretch your yoga mat, sit on the patio furniture or wander around the garden and help yourself to plums, apples, figs, strawberries, raspberries, lemons, pomegranates etc

It is easy to catch BART, ride the bus, or even take the ferry from our location.

Trader Joe's, Safeway, and several gourmet grocery stores are all very close. Great beer, wine, breads, charcuterie and local cheeses are all found in the neighborhood. If you are a foodie this is a fabulous place to be.

From this location you can easily catch a Warriors, Giants, A's, 49ers, Raiders, Cal, or Standford game. It is wonderfully easy to access all the arts and entertainment offered in Oakland, Berkeley, and San Francisco.

There are plenty of opportunities to hike in the redwoods, sail on the Bay or simply sit under our trees and enjoy the birds.
