The space

Escape TV and life's intrusions and surrender to the privacy in this sunny garden studio which comfortably accommodates 2. It is your “home away from home" and offers needed respite after a magical day in “the city by the Bay” where you can add your heart to the millions that have been “left in San Francisco”.

Your east facing room has a sliding glass door out to your private garden patio overlooking a serene and beautiful garden. Outdoor seating includes a garden swing and is the perfect place to eat and/or drink an award winning California made wine or beer.

Quality coffee and tea will be waiting for you in your kitchenette. After shopping at a local market, you can “eat in” at your breakfast bar, or “eat out” on your patio table with umbrella shade.

This centrally located village is just 25 miles from San Francisco in the greater East Bay Area and offers a good variety of restaurants, shops, a movie theater, bowling & miniature golf. Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is just 1.5 miles away. A 30 minute ride on BART will have you walking along the Embarcadero in SF en route to the Ferry Building Market Place, SOMA, Little Italy, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square and much more!

The Oakland International Airport is only 3 BART stops from Castro Valley.

If you enjoy wine tasting, you'll be just a short drive to the Livermore Valley wineries which date back to the late 1800’s. Many of these wineries have garnered a multitude of prestigious awards.

If you decide to take a "day off", you can lounge in the garden under the tall California cedar trees or take a hike in several neighboring East Bay Regional Parks or paddle a kayak on nearby Lake Chabot.

Guest access

Your private studio is equipped with high speed wireless internet (18Mbps), a DVD player (NO TV ~ enjoy the break!). Your real queen bed is fitted with Egyptian cotton sheets, a hypoallergenic microfiber comforter and down pillows. Your private bathroom has all of the amenities, including luxurious bath towels, cozy bath robes, toiletries and a hair dryer.

The kitchenette has a compact refrigerator, drip and French press coffee makers, an electric kettle for hot water, a bake/broil/convection toaster oven and a blender.

The lower garden area is yours to explore. The upper garden area is private and off-limits.

Interaction with guests

You’ll find a basket filled with ample information about restaurants and near-by attractions as well as maps of local Castro Valley & the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Use these references to plan further exploration and adventures during your stay

The neighborhood

Berkeley and Palo Alto are within easy reach if you want to visit the world renowned UC Berkeley and/or Stanford campuses. Both universities as well as Silicon Valley and the South Bay (San Jose) can be accessed by car. Note: Bay Area traffic is often heavy; thus, recommend that you take public transportation to/from Bay Area cities.

Cheryl provided me with a warm welcome, and I immediately felt at home! The continental breakfast items in the lovely kitchenette were convenient to prepare each morning. The studio was well appointed, private and clean. The quiet surroundings were an added bonus. If you're looking for a first class accomodation, that feels like home, look no further--Cheryl is an excellent host!

Cheryl was a wonderful host, made sure my friend and I were comfortable. We always looked forward to going back to 'serenity' since it was so relaxing. We never took the bus from her place nor drove, but cabs are readily available to go to the Bart station. Breakfast and the patio were fantastic! Hope to go again some day.

Response from Cheryl:
Thank you, Maryum, for your lovely review. You and Haneen are always welcome back when visiting the Bay Area!

Cheryls apartment is really beautiful and has everything you need!!. It is even better than what the pictures show. Very comfortable place, with a big bed and a very nice "patio" that we couldnt use as the weather was cold. She also provided us with things for our breakfast, she texted us asking what kind of jam and bread we like. The neighbourhood is very quiet, but has shops, restaurants etc. We really enjoyed our stay at Cheryls apartment. It was a good choice!! Thanks Cheryl!!
