Surrounded by trees yet only 90 minutes north of NYC, the Lakeview A-Frame is a custom designed retreat cottage with a loft overlooking two-story windows that give a spectacular view of our 200ft tall fir trees and a sparkling lake. Relax in the vaulted oversized living room with a golden pine ceiling, enjoy a home cooked meal made in the beautiful kitchen, or walk outdoors to soak in the magic of the sun-dappled forest trails and the valley of lakes!

Originally built back in 1967 but extensively updated and polished, the Lakeview A-frame is a classic beauty brought to a high shine with a complete redesign and update. A loft with skylights and a view of the lake serves as the bedroom in the house. This space feels cozy yet open and relaxing at the same time. The soaring shiplap wood ceilings and beams harken back to a simpler time while the small touches of modern elegance and attention to detail really make this space a graceful dream in a forest fairyland. In the bathroom you will find a luxurious spa bathtub where you can soak your cares away while breathing in the fresh forest air. A walk-in shower with natural slate stone flooring fills the other side of the bathroom across from a uniquely hand-sanded wood vanity to finish out the space. There is an outdoor dining space set up under the massive evergreen trees for sharing some outside fun with friends or family. With a charcoal grill and a small fire pit all surrounded by an array of string lights, this outdoor space really becomes magical as the sun begins to set.

The Lakeview A-frame is located in the heart of the lake region of the hudson valley. There are many local natural beauties to visit and an abundance of tiny unknown gems for exploring. Dozens of reservoirs and lakes also speckle the nearby landscape for boating, swimming and fishing such as Oscawana Lake, Canopus Lake, White pond, etc. Another local staple is Fahnestock State Park which is just 15 minutes drive away and is a great spot for hiking trails, picnic areas, birdwatching, and boating, as well as a winter park which includes 20 kilometers of groomed trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. For apple picking and local farm products including honey, butter, etc, Harvest Moon Farm & Orchard is a “Must Visit.” Little towns like Beacon and Cold Spring are just 25 minutes drive away where you can find the famous Dia Beacon modern art museum, and Beacon Mountain. For ambitious hikers who want to see the epic sweeping landscapes of the valley and the Hudson River, Mount Beacon is the highest peak of the Hudson Highlands.

The Lakeview A-frame is located on a private road in a small lake community. The property overlooks a lake and is surrounded on two sides by NY State Preserved Land (which means it gives you beautiful forrest views but please make sure to not enter the Preserved Land without permit beyond the signs around the edge of the property line).

The Ashpine dream started with a love for beautiful spaces, an obsession with architecture and design, and a passion for hospitality. My husband Grant and I poured our lives and souls into making our A-frames a wonder to stay in. We learned how to use nail guns and saws and many other things along the way, and built the vision into a reality. It was hard, and we know every board and every nail, and every piece of furniture intimately, but now we have the opportunity to share a wonderful space and experience with you. We hope you can come to love this place as much as we do. The new horizons of our dream is to help others create great memories, then eventually build more dream spaces in the forests of the Catskill Mountains and the Hudson Valley of NY.
