Airy and spacious, our 800 square foot suite occupies the entire top floor in a 1908 character house. We are just steps from the new children's nature park, tourist attractions and friendly, overfed seals at Fisherman's Wharf. Our location, in terms of convenience, is simply the best in Victoria. Leave your car keys at home! We are a ten minute walk to downtown, local beaches, jugglers, magicians and entertainers at the inner harbour, and the scenic walking trails at Dallas Road. James Bay neighborhood village, the oldest in Victoria, is a five minute walk. There you will find coffee shops (including Starbucks), bookstores, breakfast haunts, relaxed open-air pubs and gift shops. Beacon Hill Park, with its lagoons, wildlife, and Petting Zoo for children is a twenty minute walk.
Our loft has a private sunny patio, two skylights, electric fireplace, rich maple flooring, separate private bedroom as well as additional sleeping (double foldout mattress/rollaway cot) off the living room. The bathroom is spacious and has a full tub and shower. The kitchen has light cooking facilities including: convection oven, microwave, rice cooker, hot plate and under counter fridges. There is also a good-sized dining area off the kitchen and lockable storage for bicycles. There is plenty of on-street parking free of charge.
Entertainment choices include: wireless internet, flatscreen tv with dvds and three bicycles for guest use. Children are warmly welcomed (we have an extra cot if needed); the hosts (Michael and Yuki) live in the downstairs suite and many of our younger guests like to bounce on the netted trampoline with our seven year old. Yuki speaks Japanese, Michael speaks Spanish, and our nineteen year old John (when he's in town) speaks German.
We're also happy to welcome pets, although we remove all area rugs for guests with furry friends. A professional dog walking and doggy day care service is located at the end of our street. Bus stops abound and the main bus terminal is a five minute walk. UVIC (University of Victoria) and Camosun College are an easy transit transfer.
Please send us your email inquiry even if it appears the loft is full for part or all of your intended stay. Quite often we have alterations or cancellations in bookings that don't make it onto our availability calendar immediately.
No smoking anywhere on property! PLEASE, PLEASE SHOES OFF AT ENTRANCEWAY!!!! VERY IMPORTANT! Fun is mandatory! We LOVE travel stories!
Nice loft above a private house very close to downtown Victoria. We enjoyed having access to bicycles and being so close to the fisherman's wharf area.
A beautiful well thought out space that hosted our family with great comfort. Warm, welcoming hosts with plenty of local knowledge. We walked to the Inner Harbour, Fishermans Wharf and the local shops. So a great location all round.
This was our first Airbnb experience and the bar was set so high it will be a difficult to surpass. The main house has a lot of character, as it was built in the early 1900s. The loft pictures are very up to date and there were no surprises when we arrived. The loft is above the owner's (Michael) home and you have to climb a dozen steps or so to get to it. The kitchen is equipped with the essential basics to fix your breakfast and light dinners. The bathroom is comfortable for one person at a time. The living room was just right for our family of four (children 10 and 4). There is a sleeping nook where we set up the thick fold out mattress provided, and our children slept soundly all five nights we stayed. The only chilly night we had, we used the electric fireplace and it not only adds to the character of the loft but it warmed it up nicely. The bedroom was spacious and had some cleverly built drawers on the wall, so we didn't feel like we were living out of a suitcase. I like firm beds and this one was right up my alley. The trampoline in the back yard was an excellent source of entertainment for our children.
The location is fantastic. a five minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf, where you can catch water taxis to where all the main attractions are. Great restaurants and local places to eat are located at the Wharf. We opted to walk instead of driving and the location was just perfect. 20 minutes to Parliament and the Royal BC museum etc.
On his profile, Michael gives the option to either spend as much or as little time as you want with him and his family. We chose to make them part of our vacation and our time with them was truly the highlight of our stay. Michael, his wife and their sons are delightful, intelligent, charming and great conversationalists. We felt welcome into their warm home as friends right from the start. Our chats were filled with laughter and great travel stories. Michael and his oldest son have traveled worldwide! Our last night we had a very special visit with Michael's mother and niece who were wonderful to be around.
We will stay here again without second thought. What was planned as a family vacation ended up being a great cultural experience and a great time with new friends we hope to keep in touch through our lives.
Thank you Michael and family for helping us with the best vacation we've had!
Very cozy attic loft apartment with all essentials. Nice light and in a great area of town it's easy walking in to see the sights. Our hosts were readily available and very kind. Thank you!
Really enjoyed our stay in Victoria, and Michael's place was a big reason why. Cozy, clean, colorful, and convenient. If you're looking to stay within walking distance of everything, look no further.
My friend Linda and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely seaside loft. The upstairs suite is bright, roomy and extremely comfortable. We loved the (email hidden)ose to Fisherman's wharf, downtown and James Bay village shops. Would highly recommend it.
We had a fantastic stay at Michael and Yuki's place. The loft is perfect for two with a very nice bedroom, living area and kitchen. We also enjoyed breakfast outside on the patio. We spent a day riding around the area on bikes that are generously provided. Hope to stay again someday.
