Airy and spacious, our 800 square foot suite occupies the entire top floor in a 1908 character house. We are just steps from the new children's nature park, tourist attractions and friendly, overfed seals at Fisherman's Wharf. Our location, in terms of convenience, is simply the best in Victoria. Leave your car keys at home! We are a ten minute walk to downtown, local beaches, jugglers, magicians and entertainers at the inner harbour, and the scenic walking trails at Dallas Road. James Bay neighborhood village, the oldest in Victoria, is a five minute walk. There you will find coffee shops (including Starbucks), bookstores, breakfast haunts, relaxed open-air pubs and gift shops. Beacon Hill Park, with its lagoons, wildlife, and Petting Zoo for children is a twenty minute walk.
Our loft has a private sunny patio, two skylights, electric fireplace, rich maple flooring, separate private bedroom as well as additional sleeping (double foldout mattress/rollaway cot) off the living room. The bathroom is spacious and has a full tub and shower. The kitchen has light cooking facilities including: convection oven, microwave, rice cooker, hot plate and under counter fridges. There is also a good-sized dining area off the kitchen and lockable storage for bicycles. There is plenty of on-street parking free of charge.
Entertainment choices include: wireless internet, flatscreen tv with dvds and three bicycles for guest use. Children are warmly welcomed (we have an extra cot if needed); the hosts (Michael and Yuki) live in the downstairs suite and many of our younger guests like to bounce on the netted trampoline with our seven year old. Yuki speaks Japanese, Michael speaks Spanish, and our nineteen year old John (when he's in town) speaks German.
We're also happy to welcome pets, although we remove all area rugs for guests with furry friends. A professional dog walking and doggy day care service is located at the end of our street. Bus stops abound and the main bus terminal is a five minute walk. UVIC (University of Victoria) and Camosun College are an easy transit transfer.
Please send us your email inquiry even if it appears the loft is full for part or all of your intended stay. Quite often we have alterations or cancellations in bookings that don't make it onto our availability calendar immediately.
No smoking anywhere on property! PLEASE, PLEASE SHOES OFF AT ENTRANCEWAY!!!! VERY IMPORTANT! Fun is mandatory! We LOVE travel stories!
Michael was very thorough with his emails - giving information about the unit and the neighbourhood. It is actually a one bed unit and should probably be listed as such. If you plan to do some cooking, this is probably not the best unit for that. The neighbourhood is lovely, quiet and within walking distance of Victoria's lovely downtown.
The secondary sleeping options are: 1) a double folding mattress that goes on the floor in the sleeping nook off the lving room, and 2) a single hospital-style folding cot. Previously we had a double hideabed in thesleeping nook but guests found it uncomfortable, so we went with the purpose-built mattress instead.
Thanks to Michael and Yuki for their hospitality. Check in was easy and they even took our luggages a few hours ahead of time so we could borrow their bikes and go for the superb Galloping Goose Trail. The place was spacious, super clean and comfortable. We felt home right away and have just positive feedback to share. Thank you!
Beautiful and comfortable loft in the James bay area of Victoria. Most of our plans for our stay was within reasonable walking distance ( 30 mins) from the loft. Michael was an accommodating and friendly host as well. The living room area gets lots of sunlight in both the morning and afternoon and is perfect to unwind after a long day of vacationing.
Its a great place to stay, really cute BandB with space, everythings you need, close to the city centre, to the beach, to Wharf floating houses... Mickael was super friendly, wonderful week-end! If Ill come back Ill stay there again
We enjoyed our stay in the loft. We found it to be clean, comfortable, and quaint. The location was fantastic - easy walking distance to everything. The neighbourhood is older but we were completely at ease. Our hosts Michael and Yuki were hospitable and helpful. They made us feel welcome to knock on their door and chat if we needed anything, but had our complete privacy of we didn't. The loft was amply equipped for light cooking. We would happily return again.
