FREE MOUNTAIN BIKES FOR GUEST USE
NOTE: PLEASE CONTACT US EVEN IF IT LOOKS LIKE THE LOFT IS BOOKED FOR ALL OR PART OF YOUR INTENDED STAY (SOMETIMES THERE IS A TIME LAG IN THE CALENDAR UPDATE).
Airy and spacious, our 800 square foot family-friendly loft occupies the entire top floor in a 1908 character house. We are just steps from the new children's nature park, tourist attractions and friendly, overfed seals at Fisherman's Wharf. Our location, in terms of convenience, is simply the best in Victoria. Leave your car keys at home - or bring the car along! There is always free on-street parking on our street. We are a ten minute walk to downtown, local beaches, jugglers, magicians and entertainers at the inner harbour, and the scenic walking trails at Dallas Road. James Bay neighborhood village, the oldest in Victoria, is a five minute walk. There you will find coffee shops (including Starbucks), bookstores, breakfast haunts, relaxed open-air pubs and gift shops. Beacon Hill Park, with its lagoons, wildlife, and Petting Zoo for children is a twenty minute walk.
Our loft has a private sunny patio, two skylights, electric fireplace, rich maple flooring, separate private bedroom as well as additional sleeping (double foldout mattress/rollaway cot) off the living room, making for ideal arrangements for kids (we even have a small "Harry Potter room" off the kitchen). The bathroom is spacious and has a full tub and shower. The kitchen has light cooking facilities including: convection oven, microwave, rice cooker, hot plate and 3/4 sized fridge. There is also a good-sized dining area off the kitchen and lockable storage for bicycles. There is plenty of on-street parking free of charge.
Entertainment choices include: wireless internet, flatscreen tv with dvds, a small library and three bicycles for guest use. Children are warmly welcomed (we have an extra cot if needed); the hosts (Michael and Yuki) live in the downstairs suite and many of our younger guests like to bounce on the netted trampoline with our eight year old. Yuki speaks Japanese, Michael speaks Spanish, and our twenty year old John (when he's in town) speaks German. On the occasions that we are out of town, our friend Tanya will be your host.
We're also happy to welcome pets, although we remove all area rugs for guests with furry friends. A professional dog walking and doggy day care service is located at the end of our street. Bus stops abound and the main bus terminal is a five minute walk. UVIC (University of Victoria) and Camosun College are an easy transit transfer.
Please send us your email inquiry even if it appears the loft is full for part or all of your intended stay. Quite often we have alterations or cancellations in bookings that don't make it onto our availability calendar immediately. Note: on the occasions when we are out of town, our good friend Tanya will be your extremely capable host.
The back garden (including the trampoline) is for guests' and host's use. Well-behaved doggies are welcome to bask in the sun in the back garden. There is also a small semi-private sundeck at the foot of the external stairs to the loft. Here, guests can enjoy morning sun! When accessing the loft, please use the sidewalk on the right side of the right hand driveway (which separates 143 and 139 Ontario St. Note: parking is free on Ontario St., despite what the signs might say.
Bus top 30 metres away, lots and lots of free on-street parking and driveway use for loading and unloading. Bicycles are for guests' use and are an excellent source of local transportation. From Fisherman's Wharf (a five minute walk), guests can take the tiny and cute harbor ferries to the West Bay, Spinnaker's Pub and three different points downtown. It's a soothing and tranquil way to explore various parts of the city.
