Description

The space

This apartment is the kind of place where you feel at home immediately. The atmosphere is really good; not only because of the warm colors, wooden floor and tasteful furniture but most of all the energy is right. It has received a lot of love and care, with an eye for sustainability. There is a lot of sunlight and at night you can turn it into a relaxed loungy space. In summertime, flowers and organic vegetables will be growing around the house. They would like some water during your stay ☺

There is one living where 1 person can sleep on the absolutely HUGE couch and one big bedroom for two people; together or seperated. There is a bathroom with shower and a seperate toilet. The house has everything you need: TV, stereo, DVD player-, wireless internet and a well equiped kitchen with oven, microwave, big fridge, Senseo, blender and stuff like that. Basic ingredients for organic cooking are available. All liquids for washing & dishes are eco-friendly. Please keep up that spirit and be friendly to the environment! Good brand to purchase in any supermarket is Ecover. It is not expensive and it saves the environment.

The neighborhood is totally cool; you'll have everything on feet walk distance in 5-15 minutes time. The Westerpark and Westergasfabriek; a popular park full of people and BBQ's when the sun is shining; great atmosphere and totally safe. 5 minutes walk from the house. You can take the free ferry to NDSM, which is a creative and cultural place with really nice hangouts: Noorderlicht & Pllek. Around the other corner you find the most popular shopping street of the Netherlands: Haarlemmerstraat. You'll find anything you're looking for... just a little bit more original and authentic then in any other shopping street.

My only mission is that you have a wonderful stay in Amsterdam. I can provide you with many tips about where to go and where not to go. Just tell me what you like and what you need and you'll be fully provided.

There is a canal in front of my house! Many boats pass by in the summer. Great spot to sit and watch, read, eat or just be lazy.
I'm a yoga teacher so I can also tell you the best yoga spots and healthy food around!

There is plenty of public transport around all corners.

Guest access

access all area :) the house is completely yours. The only thing that you will share with my friendly neighbors is the hall where you come in.

Interaction with guests

I or my friend Carlos will be present with the check in and check out, and have regular contact with the guests about questions, requests, optional stuff to do in the area, etc.

The neighborhood

direction West:
There is a great park around the corner, Westerpark with a big cultural creative area around it, with cinema, cafes, restaurants, cool stuff.

Direction North:
There is around the corner a free ferry to Amsterdam North, the NDSM werf. Here is another creative open-minded area with places like and Great view over the water and city centre with city beach.

Down Centre:
Just around the other corner the city centre starts, with the most popular shopping street of the Netherlands: de Haarlemmerdijk. This street will provide you in anything you need, from healthy & organic food to coffeeshops for getting stoned; from chic clothing to the hippest stuff in town, all kinds or restaurants and bars, little boutiques specialized in coffee, chocolate, candy's, electronics, hair-dressers, super markets, juice bars etc. etc.

Jordaan:
Close to Haarlemmerdijk you'll find one of the most famous areas of Amsterdam: the Jordaan. Small cozy streets with all kinds of shops, boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Really authentic Amsterdam

There is so much more to tell, just let me know what you are looking for!

Getting around

Take a taxi from Central Station to Houtmankade 33a. It will cost around 10 euro only … so just to get rid of your suitcases and stuff: do that.

Later on, there is plenty public transport around the corner like busses and trams.

Check: destination: Houtmankade.
There is a tram stop just around the corner (nr.3)

Other things to note

Please take care that the windows and doors are always properly closed. It is a very safe environment, but in case a burglar is around, they are very keen on half-closed windows. The handle of the window should point downwards.
