Admire the numerous works by local artists, many of them for sale, in this 1907 house. It's on the National Historic Register and is the oldest edifice of its kind in the Southwest. Tall ceilings and large windows provide beautiful light throughout. Lush desert gardens in both the front and back of the home offer many areas to unwind in nature while being in the heart of the City. The interiors of this unique home are designed by Kaiserworks, a small design studio occupying the attic of this home. The studio has separate access + entry, insuring full separation + 100% privacy for guests.
The Grand Pyramid Estate is home to many things: 1)The Grand Pyramid House, which contains the Grand Pyramid Suite and Ksuite, 2) the Kbox guesthouse, located at the rear of the property, and 3) KAISERWORKS, an award winning design studio on the second floor with a separate stair and entry on the east side of the property. Each entity is designed for maximum privacy while allowing for interaction between guests in the outdoor areas connecting the various spaces.
The Grand Pyramid House was built two decades before most of the homes in the Garfield neighborhood. Built of Phoenix Sand Brick, this 112 year old home is similar to its Pyramid Cottage cousins (there is a Pyramid Cottage directly across the street), but the Grand Pyramid House typology is approximately 30% larger, scaled up in all directions. The home is comprised of a formal dining room, living room, large cooking kitchen, master bedroom bathroom suite, and mudroom with laundry facilities and breakfast bar. At the rear of the home is an additional bedroom/bathroom suite that is accessed through the mudroom. This additional bedroom suite is called Ksuite and is sometimes a separate airbnb rental with it's own entry through back door of the house but conveniently connected to the main house through the mudroom. As guests of the Grand Pyramid House, Ksuite is included.
Note to location scouts and or video/photography professionals: We appreciate that people want to capture the beauty of this unique property, but out of respect for the residential neighborhood and other guests' quiet and privacy, and in effort to limit wear and tear on the house, we must enforce a policy that any professional photography or video crews of more than two individuals (including talent, photographers, lighting and other assistants) request permission from the owner Christoph Kaiser. In almost all cases we require that the property be rented as a whole, and under standard location terms and fees due to the impact on the property. Please message Christoph for more information. Thank you!
As guests of the Grand Pyramid House, you have full run of the primary residence. An outdoor fire pit on the back side of the house, a bbq area on the west side of the house, the sunset balcony and professional landscape lighting make this property feel like an estate despite it being only one quarter of an acre. Lush gardens, and patios on the front, back, and side yards of the home are furnished with porch swing, Adirondack chairs, and many wood beam benches making this a first class oasis in the City Center. The second floor of the home is the Kaiserworks design studio, a small architecture and design office who has access to the second floor via a walking path on the east side of the house. Discuss with your host whether or not upstairs studio will be visited by the designers during your stay. If they will be working during your stay you may see members of the Kaiserworks team walking to and from the office, but apart from this exterior walking path, and the exterior stairs leading to the studio's separate entry, no common spaces or amenities are shared between guests of the property and the Kaiserworks design team. The studio has been designed to provide separation from and privacy for the house below. To see images of the upstairs studio, visit the Kaiserworks website or instagram: @ksrwrks
I will be available by text to answer any questions you might have but will most likely not be on premises.
In recent years, Garfield Historic District has become one of the most sought-after locales in downtown Phoenix. Several campuses, Chase Field, and Phoenix Convention Center are all walkable. Dine a few doors down the street at the Gallo Blanco or Welcome Diner.
Uber, Grid-Bike and Light Rail make getting around a breeze. There is a Grid-Bike station literally three doors east of the house, directly adjacent to Welcome Diner restaurant. There are two light rail stations within a few blocks of the house, and Uber is always only a few minutes away. Located in your Airbnb unit you will find a map of suggestions for how to enjoy our wonderful City of Phoenix - there are many hidden gems. We will help you find them!
Things you can do while staying at the Grand Pyramid House: wander the gardens, bbq a feast, make coffee, tea, breakfast, lunch, dinner, hang out or have dinner in the backyard, make a fire in the outdoor fireplace, walk two doors east to Welcome Diner or Gallo Blanco - two very nice neighborhood restaurants. There is also the Sunset balcony on the back side of the house that is perfect spot for evening drinks. This balcony is located directly off the Kaiserworks studio front door and during normal business hours is traversed by the Kaiserworks design team. We do request no visitors in the design studio itself (we need to work!), unless you arrange with your host Christoph in advance.
One final note, much of the artwork in the house are original pieces by local artists, and much of it is for sale. If you see a piece you like please let us know and we can provide pricing information!
