The Sicily region
Sicily is the largest and most important island in the Mediterranean, it extends for 25,460sq km. Planes of fertile red soil, excellent for the cultivation of vine grapes, citrus orchards and olive groves, alternate with hills, green in spring for the cultivation of wheat and, among the majestic mountains, Mount Etna, the most popular of active volcanoes. The climate is typically Mediterranean along the coasts, with mild, short winters and moderate rainfall.
Freeway connection, located 2000 meters away, will allow you to quickly connect, explore and discover remote areas of the island.
Altavilla Milicia is east of Palermo, so you will be closer and will not meet the city traffic when driving for a day trip to Cefalu', Taormina, Mount Etna, Siracusa, Agrigento, Selinunte. We recommend excursions to: Palermo e Monreale (20 km), Cefalu' (50 km), Segesta, Agrigento, Madonie Natural Park (80 km), Taormina (200 km), Mount Etna (200 km), Siracusa (250 km), Eolie Islands.
The Palermo / Altavilla Milicia area
This villa is located 3 Km from Altavilla town , a quaint village on a Sicilian hill, 900 m.from the sea and 15 min. easy drive to Palermo. The location offers all the best. Excellent is the local production of wine. Don’t forget to taste the world renown 'Corvo, Duca di Salaparuta', the pasta Tomasello, exported in USA and Canada and the extra virgin cold press olive oil 'Giada'.

Turi's villas are located in a residential area some 30 minutes’ drive from Palermo centre in relative proximity to the beach. Even though the villa's only 800 m away from the sea, it's still advisable to drive to the nearest beach as you’ll end up walking along the highway (with no sidewalk) for ca. 10 min to reach it. Beware that the beach is open only during the high season. Nearest supermarket is located in the next village, which can't be reached by foot either. Bottom line, you really need a car to get around, as there's no public transportation in the neighbourhood whatsoever!
Once you have a car, it’s very easy to get to the highway to explore the north-eastern and southern parts of Sicily, avoiding the traffic around Palermo.
We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment in one of the villas with the swimming pool. We were lucky to get an exclusive use of the pool too since there were no other tenants in this villa at that time.
There’s one thing to consider though: acoustics in these apartments is incredible, you can hear almost everything that’s going on inside and outside the house, which can be disturbing sometimes.
The premises are very nice and clean, the villas are surrounded by pine and olive trees. Sunbeds and garden furniture are at your disposal at any time.
Turi is a wonderful host! He and his wife Elvira were most helpful and accommodating, e.g. organising transfers and car rent, showing around the neighbourhood, providing sightseeing and restaurant tips, etc. First time in Sicily, we always felt that we were in good hands. Thank you!
Dear Larisa, thank you for your detailed and careful review and are happy to know that your first time in Sicily was a success. Regarding access to the beach I though have to make a clarification; the beach that you have found closed is the Lido Sporting's beach, because it has a private access to it. But you can get to this stretch of beach accessed from the beaches adjacent to it, at any time of year. Luckily there still are no private beaches in Sicily, but only private access! ;-))
Another specification that will help other travelers is that of the supermarket; in the summer months the nearest is to 800 meters, although I always recommend to reach the nearby fishing village of San Nicola L'Arena, 3 km far away, where you can buy everything.
I'll wait for yet a second time!
Allez-y.
Me and my father stayed in this apartment for four days in june and we had a good time. The apartment itself was very spacious in size and modern in style. Turi was a great host and went out of his way to make our stay as convenient and comfortable as possible. We were also able to rent the pool for a day and that was also great. Very discrete and modern outdoor areas.
So thank you Turi, I`m sure we`ll stay with you again! :)
Turi was extremely responsive during the booking process, flexible with meeting for check in and check out, the villa was very clean and tidy (exactly as it shows in the pictures) and had everything we needed for our stay, his partner Elvira even provided us with a light snack and was a very lovely lady who advised us on where to eat in the local area.. Turi and Elvira even arranged for a taxi for us to take into Palermo town centre, which didn't cost a lot, fares range between €60-€70 into town, Sicilian cuisine is just out of this world, u must try all the local restaurant/cafe, theres loads in the main town centre but with these small alleys you really must look out for them. But overall we had a great time and would definite recommend this place if you truly want a quite, yet peaceful time. Top notch hosting
We really enjoyed our stay in Turi's flat, which was of a high standard being clean and spacious. As I don't drive Turi was very helpful in picking us up and letting us pick up some groceries. We enjoyed walking and exploring the area and swimming at the near-by beaches. Thanks Turi!
