Quiet & cozy fully furnished Tiny Home nestled in the middle of a working hay field at Historic Turkington Estates. 5 star rated super hosts of 3 other airbnb listings here in Homer. We're excited to share this new space with guests venturing to Alaska! The panoramic view of Kachemak Bay from Turkington Estate's secluded 28 acres is one of the most breathtaking views you can experience while visiting Homer. Grewingk Glacier, Poots Peak, Gull Island, the Homer Spit and more; they're all visible!

The space
The Tiny Home sits in an active hay field on our estate with an incredible view! You will have full access to the property to walk around and soak up the view from every angle.

The Tiny Home sits on Turkington Estate's 28 acres Robert homesteaded in 1946. This was Scott's grandparent's home which has since been converted into a vacation rental several years ago. The Guests who have stayed at the Estate the last few years have overwhelmingly enjoyed their stay however we can never accommodate everyone who inquires to stay. That's why we decided to add additional tiny homes to the property. This will allow even more visitors to Homer to have the opportunity to enjoy our little slice of Heaven.

The Tiny Home can sleep up to 3 people, 2 comfortably on the full bed in the loft and the bonus sleeping benche below which has a comfortable cot sized mattress. As many may already know, a tiny home can only be 13.5 feet tall which does give the loft a lower profile. The full mattresse is lower to the ground and although you can't stand up you can sit up and move around easily in the loft. If you have bad knees and or back however and have a hard time bending over, the stairs and lower profile of the loft may not be suitable for your needs. So far our guests have overwhelmingly loved the cozy feel and given us a 5 star rating. The benche on the lower level is slightly narrower than a regular twin mattress and 80 inches long. For many, especially children the bench will probably be quite adequate.

Note: we will leave the bedding to make the benche into a sleeping area on the bench itself but you will be responsible for putting the bedding on yourselves. The bed in the loft will be premade. The Tiny Home comes with a kitchen, small fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate, coffee pot and enough utensils for 3 guests. The shower is stocked with towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash.

We also include coffee, tea and granola bars which are complimentary items to help guests get through their first morning at the cottage. There is a mini fridge provided should you need additional food or beverage items. There are three conveniently located grocery stores (one near the estate) in Homer where you can find such items.

Turkington Estate is part of the last remaining 28 acres of Bob and Carolyn Turkington's original 360 Acre Farm. Turkington Estate's B&B was Bob and Carolyn's home which their eldest son, wife, children and grandchildren have converted into a rental for guests to experience this unique property. Bob and Carolyn's grandson Scott, his wife Hester and their two girls have nestled this cozy little Tiny Home on the Estate so others can enjoy its incredible views!

Bob first came to Alaska in 1946. He drove from Hartford Connecticut in Model A's and eventually found his way down to Homer. He fell in love and knew this is where he wanted to live. He soon returned to Connecticut, married Carolyn and brought her back to Homer in 1948. The Estate is now in the care of Bob and Carolyn's eldest son Alan, wife Joyce, their 4 children and 6 grandchildren.

The way the sun plays off of the snow covered mountain peaks, glaciers and clouds across the bay, you'll have a front row seat to some of the most spectacular sunrises and sunsets Alaska has to offer. Grewink Glacier, Poots Peak, Gull Island, the Homer Spit and more, they're all visible from the Estate. Through the summer months it's not uncommon to see a mamma moose and her young stroll through the property, an eagle soar overhead in search of a meal or have a flock of Sandhill Crane land in the field and forage for food with their young.

Guests might enjoy going for a stroll around the property/working hay field, exploring the various flora that grows wild, picking a snack of wild raspberries from the raspberry patch in the late summer and fall or sit out on the deck and watch the sun set in the late summer! Please note Joyce and Alan live on the property and have a small Chihuahua and Miniature Schnauzer that occasionally like to go out and explore the property. They bark and new people they encounter but are harmless and won't bite. They're very friendly if you'll run their bellies :)

The Turkington's are 4th Generation Alaskans/Homerites and we love the last frontier! We hope you'll choose to spend part of your Alaskan adventure with us!
