This place was great! The location was perfect - not far from La Rambla, and steps away from Placa Real. Even more importantly, it's in the Gothic area which has tons to explore, and also a short walk from Born. We had also rented mopeds and it was pretty easy to find nearby places to park them overnight. Would definitely stay here again.
We truly liked the location of the apartment. We could not be more centrally located. Loved the terrace. It was a nice apartment for a small group.
I booked the apartment for myself and 5 friends to celebrate a birthday in Barcelona. It was the first time any of my friends had used airbnb and perhaps for them, will be the last.
The apartment is located very centrally, close to La Ramblas, because of this it is also very noisy, with partygoers and music until 1-3am each night. The house itself is spacious and well equipped with each room having its own bathroom.
The major concerns were around communication and responsiveness. Diaga requested information about our arrival date at booking (3 months prior to arrival) which we were unable to confirm. Two months prior to arrival, I contacted her to see if friends who were arriving early to Barcelona could check in, this message was not responded to, I contacted 3 weeks before arrival to confirm flight arrival times with no response, and twice a week prior requesting confirmation of the details and any necessary information. Diaga responded stating she would be waiting at the apartment, then requested we call her 30 minutes before arrival, which we confirmed we could.
We arrived slightly later than expected due to a flight delay however, they were still completing the house making beds etc. We were asked to sign an agreement to join a 'gastronomic Society' to adhere to Barcelona's strict rental policies, it felt we had little choice but to agree to this, but felt this really should have been communicated prior to check in.
During our stay we broke a glass jar, we were unable to find a broom or dustpan in the house to clean this. I wrote a message to Diaga at approx 8 at night which had still not been responded to the next morning. I recontacted her as there remained glass on the ground. Upon returning home that afternoon we found a broom and dust pan in the kitchen but the message was not replied to nor were other request in the message.
An additional cleaning fee of $70 and a $500 deposit both are excessive and not something I have encountered in other airbnb stays. I have stayed in airbnb places that have been run by businesses that have operated very professionally and other properties that have felt very personal, this felt like neither.
Overall the place is nice, but the lack of communication is stressful especially if you are renting for a group.
I am sad to read Nicoles review. As everything was perfectly prepared for her stay. And only because I brought her broom next day...not 8 pm as she was requesting, she wrote this bed review.
As well its written that guests will need to pay check in and cleaning fee upon arrival and deposit will be taken with credit card preauthorizathion.
The apartment was just perfect!! Great location, big rooms, really comfortable for a weekend of fun in Barcelona! Daiga was really helpful by email. I did not actually meet her in person as she had to leave Barcelona when I arrived but we dealt with Paolo who was great! I really recommend this apartment to anyone wanting to visit Barcelona and enjoy the nightlife.
