  • We had the most beautiful stay at Sandrine´s place! We spent a weekend at her apartment. It is situated at one of the most charming squares in the heart of Paris. Sandrine was a very friendly and helpful host. Thank you so much for the opportunity to stay with you! We will come back soon.

  • We went as a group of friends to Paris. When looking for an apartment, we immediately loved Sandrine's top floor duplex. Every angle of the apartment was furnished and decorated with a lot of taste.
The contact with Sandrine was very easy, even arriving quite late (around 10 pm on a Friday) was no problem at all. On the first day (we stayed for a week) we met around noon and she gave us insider tipps where to go. And they were excellent!
The whole stay was kind of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You would never expect to live directly at Place des Vosges. But we did!!! My French friends were extremely impressed to hear this.
If you want the real Parisian experience, this is it!
We cooked every evening and did not have the impression anything was missing. WIFI, dishwasher, washer dryer, steam iron - the flat is fully equipped!
Only one thing should be kept in mind: Although there is plenty of space for up to seven people, they should know each other well: the different rooms are only divided by glass doors or have an open balcony towards the living room. It fitted perfect for us.
So thanks again Sandrine for this great experience!

  • We were so pleased with our stay in Sandrine's apartment, perfect for our family of 6, with our children sleeping in the upstairs alcoves. Sandrine's place is as comfortable as it is beautiful. It's spacious and full of charm and character - we loved it.

  • Excellent location on Place des Vosges, in the heart of Le Marais. Great for everybody who loves art galleries and excellent food. Really nice and well decorated home with a warm vibe as well as clever room sections. Sandrine is lovely and most helpful with all you need to know about either the flat, the area or Paris in general. Warm recommendations!

  • Super! This house was the best experience I've had in Paris. Yes, it's expensive; yes some things don't work properly, but hey - you're in Paris! To me the little imperfections were almost part of the uniqueness of the property. Set in the oldest square in Paris, one of its most elegant neighborhoods, it was a true pleasure to go back to that special house, nestled in the Paris rooftops, awash with light streaming in from all the windows. There is art in every corner, in every architectural concept. You can lie down in every room and breathe in your fill of beauty.
In regards to previous reviews, this property is meant for a family or close friends. It is well-divided and each and every room is lovely, regardless the size of the 2 smaller single bedrooms (which my children adored!) - but if you've got privacy issues, look for something else. Only defect: this is the owner's home, so somehow you feel like an intruder. Thank-you for sharing Sandrine!

  • I just returned from a fabulous Paris stay with my mother and 3 sisters. Sandrine's apartment was exactly what we expected, and artist's apartment in a historic building. The main floor is very large with comfortable living room and dining space. All but one bedroom are lofts, so beware of stairs and low ceilings.
This apartment is so charming! Sandrine is an artist and has much of her work on the walls as well as treasures - art, books, furniture - collected through the years. This is not a hotel, but a home where you can rest and enjoy with close friends or family. Although old and historic, we found the arpartment, linens, kitchen and bathroom all clean with modern appliances working properly. We had plenty of dishes, utencils and glasses (all of French style).
Located in the heart of the Marias, shopping, eating and getting around was simple. We walked most places and took the metro, a few blocks away. Sandrine gave us plenty of suggestions for restaurants and bars and local markets. She answered every one of my texts and emails promptly and was very helpful.
The 5 of us highly recommend staying in this apartment if you want a true Parisian experience. We feel like we lived in Paris for a week rather than visited. Thank you Sandrine!!

  • Warning: this place is still falsely advertised as a "5 bedroom" place. It's not. Only ONE of the bedrooms is a private bedroom with a door. There are two alcoves INSIDE one of the bedrooms that she calls bedrooms but are not. No privacy and no one can stay there unless they are children of whomever is using that main room.
The other two supposedly private bedrooms had no doors on them and are open to the public space. My friend was forced to find a hotel room at the last minute as there was only one private bedroom in the place. My other two friends stayed despite the lack of privacy as they did not have funds or the time to look for another place.
You can not tell this from the photos. Also, the owner is unpredictable, as noted by the previous tenant who the owner described him as crazy, (and she will I'm sure also describe me as 'crazy,')
I communicated in advance to her to make sure the bedrooms were separate bedrooms, and she assured me in writing that they were.
The neighborhood and history of Place des Vosges is of course magnificent. The flat itself is not as advertised.
The kitchen is poorly equipped and not what you expect from a place that is almost $900 a night. No water glasses, no coffee cups (I had to buy four coffee cups for us to use), no wine glasses. The flatware and dishes were dirty and decrepit. She claims this is because her flat is "artistic." Well, all of my colleagues are creative artists, highly professional ones, and did not consider the bad and broken equipment and moldy un-useable shower to be anything but shoddy--not a statement of artistry!
There is only one full bathroom, and it has a tub but not a shower. I like baths, so that was fine, but my friends found the separate shower was un-useable, it was so smelly and moldy (unbelievable for the price she is charging.) There is also tiny closet toilet with ia rusty metal sink in the front of the flat. That's it.
The sheets and blankets were old and stained. And the coffee maker was broken, and when we pointed out that it did not work, the owner accused us of breaking it. (By pushing the 'on' button? !) And at checkout she stormed in and went right to an old wicker chair against the wall. 'You broke it," she said. We had never used it and had pushed it aside, against the wall, when we saw it was broken on the first day. She said she was going to charge me for her broken things.
A few days before, I confirmed check out at 6 pm, which she approved, as her listing said "flexible checkout and check in." At 5 pm she arrived stating that we were to have been out at 1 pm. My friends witnessed all this.
    Buyer beware.

    Response from Artiste Sandrine:

In 10 years of seasonal rental, I lately encountered 2 bad experiences one after the other, with dishonest lying and improper persons staying in my family apartment and I now really feel upset and even soiled by such an unfairness… I precise that an agency from Airbnb made the description of the apartment and shot every room. So I will explain what really happened :
The apartment was rent to Gwendolyn 4 persons and 5 nights.
When she arrived she asked me to lend her 60 euros for her taxi.
2 days after her coming, Gwendolyn called me saying very aggressively that the coffee machine, she did make work the first days, was broken and that she was not responsible. Anyway as soon as she called me, I replaced it by an another one !
… and this is the point of all this mess, because I came that day with a friend of mine : the outside door was entirely opened (probably waiting for some more people) and when we came in, we saw more than a dozen of persons in the living-room installed in the sofas, the armchairs and in all the chairs from the dining room. They were taking notes as Gwendolyn was giving a training course. When she saw us, she looked upset, like caught in the act of being in fault !...
Indeed she was in fault to rent a family apartment for her training seminar, instead of an office or a conference room, most of all because the building being an historical place, the Law forbids any business of that kind !...
My friend and I looked at her website and we discovered that she organized a training course in my house for 2000 euros the 5 days per student, which altogether for 12 trainees makes 24000 euros. But it is obvious that her aim was to optimize her winning by a tricky apartment rental. Therefore she pretends a lot of complains and denies the evident truth of her faults.
Looking at the situation, I doubt that only 4 persons stayed in my house since she wants me to pay 2500 euros hotel for some more persons !...
Gwendolyn omitted to mention that some of her students made the alarm rung up and that all the neighbours complained. The Concierge (lodge keeper) was alerted and shocked…
Being in a very bad situation, Gwendolyn started to complain very aggressively about the fact that 2 rooms had no door.
These bedrooms configuration at the upper stairs do not need doors and the privacy is completely respected. Strange that till now nobody made a remark about that…
Gwendolyn complained that the kitchen was not equipped with enough plates : this is due to the fact that with 13,15 or more persons, the washing dishes machine was full, because there are more than 20 dishes and sufficient stuff in the kitchen and again never anyone complained about missing anything !…
She also complained because there was no broom, but she could use the vacuum cleaner !
I accepted her staying till 6 p.m. to please her (supposedly to complete her seminar), although she had been cheating me…
Making the checking out, I found out that a genuine antique Louis XVI chair was broken and like for the coffee machine, she refused to admit that it was she or one of her students who broke it, so that of course she refused to pay for their repair. She also refused to give me back the 60 euros of the taxi.
More arguments to prove her bad intentions are that : 1/ she only complained to me, never to Airbnb. 2/ since she left Paris, she has changed her name and cancelled her photo. She calls herself Gwendolyn (no family name).
After that disastrous experience, I have to cope with the residents of my building, since she made a disgraceful mess in my apartment as well as in the residence, due to the fact that her stay for a commercial activity was completely illegal.
Unfortunately such kind of person cannot be really spotted in advance. I now can only regret the evil-smelling left in my house and my children house…

  • It was a complete disaster from the beginning to the end. The host was friendly until I payed the money. After the payment was made she was very rude, unfriendly and unhelpful. She asked when we will arrive and when I said that we will arrive at 11 pm she said this is to late and we will have to pay more. She was so rude, she said that we are inappropriate guests as we arrive so late. But I checked in the AirBnB while booking and there was written that check in time is flexible.. When we arrived there was host's house keeper waiting. She was very rude too. She shouted stating that everything in this house is very expensive and we should be very careful and we will have to pay a lot if something wrong happens. We were shocked as we had just arrived and didn't even touched anything. We felt as we were slaves of this horrible house keeper, she shouted on us so aggresively. She also said to us that we have to give her 30 euros for her taxi. We gave it as we just wanted her to leave as our baby was crying and wanted to sleep. You can imagine that our first experience of trip to Paris was really unpleasant. After a little time we tryed to use the toilet and we had a surprise - there was no toilet paper in the whole apartment. And it was late night and there was no shop working. I called the host but she shouted on me once more stating that she is not in Paris and it is not her business. We didn't receive any help. Another surprise was bed sheets of the master bedroom which were very very dirty and old. We also found dirty cutlery and overall the apartment was dirty. It is a pity it is impossible to share photos in AirBnb but if you are interested please contact me and I will send you the photos. We payed arround 2500 euros for 4 nights and were so dissapointed that I want to save other people from such mistake. I have never had problems with a host or the apartment before and when I read this review it is hard to believe it but it is complete truth. Avoid this expensive apartment if possible. During the stay host spamed me with a lot of short messages and emails, she always reminded about her and ruined not only the first night. Oh, and finally - the host sent me an email in which she threatened that if I write a bad review she will write a bad review about me. I found that so ridiculous and childish that I couldn't believe it. But if you book this apartment - you should be ready for constant pressure like that.

    Response from Artiste Sandrine:

In 10 years I never had such a bad experience with a guest. Before Mr Simas arrived he asked me to buy a special bed for his baby, which I did. He reserved for 6 and they were 7 people staying. Being away from Paris, it is my housekeeper whom I trust since she is a very serious old lady, who prepared and received Mr Simas family. They informed us at the last minute that they would arrive after midnight. At that time she could only take a taxi. They asked her to prepare a meal for them when they arrive. She had been working all the day since the previous guests left in the morning. It was a bank holiday and all shop were closed. When she saw the child touching and pushing the sculpture, she warned the parents about the precious art displayed in the apartment. She undoubtedly was not rude at all, but her English is not so good. Regarding the toilet paper she left enough for a start in each toilet. Mr Simas was furious and called me at 1.30 a.m. in the middle of the night shouting at me and said that I had to bring right now toilet paper otherwise he will use my art books or the towels !... Concerning the sheets, what he found as dirty is tie and dye ! I precise that all the sheets are ironed and clean ! For the cutlery they are washed in the washing machine and if it is in silver, sometimes stains can appear and remain : but it is clean however ! As a whole it seems that Mr Simas did not understand that he was staying in an artist place with strange and handmade things. Although they arrived very late, although they called me screaming during the night, although I bought the baby bed, although they did not pay for the extra person, I think that as a host I remained rather cool !... But I felt that such kind of crazy person could be more dangerous and I was so frightened that I informed Airbnb. They told me that I could ask them to leave right away, which I did not do because they had a baby and a hotel is 1000 euros per night for 2 in Place des Vosges. I feel very upset to have let my home soiled by such people so far from the delicate people whom I usually receive. I thing Mr Simas who does not show his picture lied on purpose to get his rent back, while I should have received more from him...
I tried to keep contact with mr Simas because I was afraid of what he could do that is why I sent mails and of course I would have preferred him to be happy .
