The Space

I have a bedroom available in my home here in Providence.Built by the president of Gorham Silver Company in 1870,It is still pretty much intact as I am only the third owner since it was built. I am located near downtown on the west side ,near bus lines ,highways and schoolsThis bedroom is upholstered in green silk more and decorated with Japanese woodblock prints. There's a four poster bed and definitely has a traditional feel to it..From the Morris wallpaper to the Tiffany lamps and stained glass windows and doors it's all here. This would be ideal for the traveler on business or (email hidden)ere is parking, and ample grounds including a rose garden and deck. There is also a Steinway model B in excellant condition in the living room available for use.Truly unique. You simply are not going to find anything like this in Providence.I am located a half block from a bus stop that will take you directly downtown. Please note I now charge if there is more than one guest. This is simply because of the price of food. Please check out my photos. Available daily ,weekly or long term. Also please note that I have two other lisitngs on airbnb in the same house.I have another room available on the first floor and a one bedroom apartment.I have had guest who were not aware of this.

  • This was a truly lovely accommodation. It had character is buckets, the room was well presented, the location was central and the breakfast was always a delight. As was Chip (engaging, with wonder perspective on the RI way of live, but not intrusive on our time). I can only recommend experience.

  • My husband and I had such a great time in Chip's House, we were amazed with every single room of the house, although there is a lot of furniture the house look organized and clean, by the way, the furniture was awesome, is a secret museum in Providence, beds are comfortable and baths clean, the air conditioner worked perfectly, the location is very convenient, downtown, where everything happens, is walking distance, Chip is an excellent host, he was very flexible with everything and what we liked the most, he is also a great cooker, the breakfast was fantastic!

  • Chip was a very attentive host and what a great cook! Elegant breakfast every morning serving variety and fresh dishes. Our room was comfortable and the home was like a museum. Loved the big copper tub! Thank you for making our visit so memorable.

  • We had a great experience with Chip. The house is beautiful and quirky, the breakfast was delicious and abundant. We arrived very early in the morning, and Chip invited us for breakfast, even if it was not included. He has been extremely friendly and accommodating, and our stay was very pleasant. The only concern is the neighborhood, which has a bit of a sketchy feeling. We walked from Chip's to downtown during the day (speeding up our pace in same streets), but took a cab at night. Nothing bad happened, but I wouldn't have felt comfortable to walk around the neighborhood alone. I'd give 5 stars to Chip, and a -1 for the neighborhood. If you have a car, or if you do not care about walking back at night (or maybe it's me who's just a wimp!), I'd totally recommend staying here.

    Response from Chip:

As mentioned by other reviews ,the neighborhood ,It really isn't as bad as it may appear at times, especially if you are not familiar with an urban environment.Providence is a pretty laid back place ,but if you go looking for trouble you will probably find it.And as I have mentioned before ,of the over 250 guest I have had there has never been a problem.

  • Another great stay in Providence! Chip took my last-minute reservation in stride and even accommodated and early morning breakfast request (which was yummy). Slept great in my favorite room on the first floor. This is definitely my place to stay in Providence!

  • Amazing house and amazing host! If you like this place in the photos, it's even more impressive in person. Chip was very helpful and provided wonderful breakfasts way beyond what I expected. He's very friendly and can offer helpful tips and advice while making sure you still do your own thing and not just what he'd do. There were a number of other guests in the house, but the place is so big you can't even tell if they are around except if you meet up with them at breakfast. Everything about our stay was perfect and we would definitely stay here again without a doubt.

  • I had a great experience staying with Chip. The house is one of a kind. It was like walking into an antique shop, filled with paintings, old furniture, sculptures etc. Chip is a great host. He cooks a great breakfast including fresh fruit, omelette, bacon, sausage and great coffe. The last day of my stay I was going to pick up a rental car at the airport and was planning to take a taxi but as the great host he is, he offered to drive me.

  • Chip was an incredibly gracious and helpful host, and we wish that we had been able to stay with him for longer. His home is incredible, filled with wonders, and the room we stayed in was a delight. The breakfast was delicious and Chip even offered to drive us to our bus station. His home is served by several bus lines and is therefore ideally placed for transport into downtown Providence. If we are ever back in Providence, we will be sure to stay here again.

  • Chip'a place felt like we were in another world. All the decoration was so authentic and created a far eastern inspired classical environment. It really felt like were transported to another world given the surroundings of the neighborhood. And the breakfast was home-cooked and amazing. We will definitely be returning to this manor-style apartment.
