About This Listing
I have a bedroom available in my home here in Providence.Built by the president of Gorham Silver Company in 1870,It is still pretty much intact as I am only the third owner since it was built. I am located near downtown on the west side ,near bus lines ,highways and schoolsThis bedroom is upholstered in green silk more and decorated with Japanese woodblock prints. There's a four poster bed and definitely has a traditional feel to it..From the Morris wallpaper to the Tiffany lamps and stained glass windows and doors it's all here. This would be ideal for the traveler on business or (email hidden)ere is parking, and ample grounds including a rose garden and deck. There is also a Steinway model B in excellant condition in the living room available for use.Truly unique. You simply are not going to find anything like this in Providence.I am located a half block from a bus stop that will take you directly downtown. Please note I now charge if there is more than one guest. This is simply because of the price of food. Please check out my photos. Available daily ,weekly or long term. Also please note that I have two other lisitngs on airbnb in the same house.I have another room available on the first floor and a one bedroom apartment.I have had guest who were not aware of this.
This is a pretty low key home.Live and let live.I do expect people to respect the other people living in the house as there are also apartments that are rented out long term.I do make breakfast in the morning and it is helpful to let me knowv in advance what time you want it .I usually am out by 9:30 so please let me know in advance if you want breakfast later than that.I can also have breakfast ready by 6:30..If you are staying long term sheets are changed twice a week and there are plenty of towels just ask.I'm pretty flexible about check out time but let me know in advance if you are going to be later than 1:00.usually it's no problem unless someone else is coming in
Wonderful, relaxing stay once again. This time, my wife was able to join and enjoy the amazing house and meeting Chip. We made it to India Point Park (ca. 10 min away) as a launching point for the East Bay bike trail near sunset -amazing views. Hope to visit again soon, but will have to make a new excuse now that my son graduated from RISD!
The house is pretty close to everything central. There is parking available on the site. The house is definitely interesting. I loved the decor and bathtub in the bathroom. The only real problem was that the room got hot and the conditioner is loud but other than that very convenient
My parents and I were fortune enough to come and stay in this spectacular house for two days. I had high expectation based on the pictures and this historical house lives up to it. Chip, a gifted textile designer, is an amazing host. He got up early and made us breakfast by 7:30am and excused us for arriving late in the evening. He is great to talk to, with so much knowledge to share about Providence and arts. We thank him for a memorable stay. Would recommend this place to anyone who is looking forward to an one-and-only Airbnb experience.
This is a wonderful place to stay in Providence! Chip made my fiancee and I feel very welcome, very comfortable, and very taken care of. I would recommend this spot to family and friends, and certainly to anyone looking for an interesting and fun experience through airbnb. Thank you so much, Chip!
Upon arriving at Chip's house, the cab driver gave us his personal number because the area was "rough." My friend and I were very scared and tried to book a hotel room but we couldn't because we were not 21. Chip was very kind and made us breakfast in the morning, which was fantastic. The area is not as safe as described in previous reviews. I would be more careful if you plan on staying here.
What an amazing experience! I had really high hopes from the photos, and this place and host still exceeded my expectations. Chip creates "experiences" in each room--fantastic color combinations, unique antiques, clever accents, etc. I LOVED the uber-deep copper bathtub and rich, vibrant tiling in the bathroom. I spent time reading outdoors as well--great sitting chair with pink petals floating down from the tree above. Chip has a lovely cat-- a real added treat for visitors. (There was no cat hair in any of the rooms, so if you're not a pet person, you needn't be impacted.) But if you ARE a cat person, she's a total delight! In the morning, Chip prepared a gourmet breakfast, with 6 dishes offered. We ate in a room with the most beautiful crystal chandelier--on china and silverware, with linen napkins. I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to have visited with Chip. He is a gifted artist, very well-traveled, and has fabulously entertaining stories to share. Chip also had great recommendations for area restaurants...which all looked great. I'd love to come back and visit some of the other places he recommended! He has several other properties, and I'd love to stay in each! Perfect setting for a whimsical, reflective sojourn, with the friendliest and most interesting host! I've stayed in B & B's my whole life, including another B & B in Newport the night before. I've *never* had it this good...and the price can't be beat. Give yourself the gift of a visit here!
