I have a bedroom available in my home here in Providence.Built by the president of Gorham Silver Company in 1870,It is still pretty much intact as I am only the third owner since it was built. I am located near downtown on the west side ,near bus lines ,highways and schoolsThis bedroom is upholstered in green silk more and decorated with Japanese woodblock prints. There's a four poster bed and definitely has a traditional feel to it..From the Morris wallpaper to the Tiffany lamps and stained glass windows and doors it's all here. This would be ideal for the traveler on business or (email hidden)ere is parking, and ample grounds including a rose garden and deck. There is also a Steinway model B in excellant condition in the living room available for use.Truly unique. You simply are not going to find anything like this in Providence.I am located a half block from a bus stop that will take you directly downtown. Please note I now charge if there is more than one guest. This is simply because of the price of food. Please check out my photos. Available daily ,weekly or long term. Also please note that I have two other lisitngs on airbnb in the same house.I have another room available on the first floor and a one bedroom apartment.I have had guest who were not aware of this.
Really nice house, the room was lovely. We received a really warm welcome on cold, dark night. Breakfast was lovely and the homemade cookies and brownies were delicious!
We had a nice stay at Chip's place. It's unique and interesting, and Chip's breakfast was delicious.
This house is absolutely amazing! Chip has a great taste and everything is decorated so beautifully. The bed is soooo comfy, the room is extremely clean and organized, the bathroom is very spacious, and the breakfast is just awesome!!! Definitely choose this place if you are an artsy person--you will love it! It looks exactly like the pictures. I would say it is a even more comfortable stay than in an expensive hotel. The cats are adorable, and Chip is such a nice person that you will be glad to just know him. On my second day here, it was snowing really heavily, but Chip still made me breakfast 7am in the morning and drove me to downtown. I'm so thankful to him! :) You will get your complete privacy but at the same time have a living community around you. The only con will be the location--It's kinda hard if you don't have a car because it's not walkable to downtown and the neighborhood can be sketchy at night. But if you can afford cabs or Uber, it will not affect your stay at all since it literally only take 10 minutes to get to downtown. Overall, this is a great place to stay!!!
Great stay, once again. This time I stayed in the first floor room, which was beautifully appointed and super comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic each day and Chip welcomed my RISD student son on the second morning's breakfast, accommodating a last minute request gracefully. Still highly recommended!
We stayed over on Saturday night and, with only 24 hours to explore Providence, the suggestions that we got from Chip for where-to-go were greatly appreciated and saved us from wasting time wandering around. Since we were the only guests, we had a wonderful Sunday breakfast conversation with Chip about the history of the house, etc. We're also glad that we took his advice at breakfast to check out the Rhode Island Flower Show at the Providence Convention Center.
Chip's personal knowledge of Providence locales and events proved made us appreciate what we would have missed if we stayed elsewhere.
P.S. You can't tell from the street-level photos, but Chip has plenty of off-street parking on his property.
We had a great time staying at Chip's! His beautiful sounding Steinway; the delicious breakfast; the ubiquitous antiques to satisfy our curiosity... The house really was the highlight of the trip for us. We'll be back for the summer! Thank you so much for hosting us!!
This was a great find! We (my husband and I) live in the area and were looking for a place to get away for the night without children on our heels! Chip's home is lovely. We had a room and essentially our own bathroom, with an amazing copper tub. He was a gracious host. I read the reviews about the wonderful breakfast he served in the morning, but my expectations were far surpased! I will most definitely stay again. This time I would like to try the summer and explore what looks like a beautiful backyard. Thank you for a much needed mini "vacation"!!
Chip's house was a wonderland of mysteries and delights. The photos, as great as they are, don't do justice to the multitude of nooks & crannies, alcoves & curio cabinets in which Chip has curated his collection of antique furnishings, art, wallpaper, textiles, knickknacks and oddities.
And the man himself is lovely- warm, conversational and eager to share the comfort of his home. Not to mention the delicious breakfast he prepares in his gorgeous little kitchen- every item he served had classy, unique touches. YUM!
Thank you, Chip, for a wonderful stay.
I cant say enough about my stay with Chip . He was a fabulous host in every way. His place is warm comfortable and visually stimulating. Chip is also a excellent cook . Breakfast was over the top. Excellent. If your playing on staying in Providence, plan on reserving a room with chip, you wont be disappointed.
Lovely room with large bath. Renovated Victorian with charming antiques and interiors. Breakfast was outstanding! More than I could eat. Host is very accommodating.
