The Space

This must be one of the most beautiful modern homes in northern Thailand. Recently built in 'tropical modern' style it commands a stunning position with views of the mountains on one side and a palm fringed swimming pool on the other. Only a 30 minute drive north from downtown Chiang Mai, it is the ideal retreat for those seeking a truly Thai experience: surrounded by paddy fields and village life, with everything the country lover could want, plus the excitement of Chiang Mai a short drive away.
The accommodation comprises a beautiful bedroom furnished in Thai style, but with all modern conveniences, including ensuite shower room and a terrrace. Access to a private sitting room with apple tv player, and well-equipped kitchen. Breakfast is provided and other meals can be arranged, both Thai and Western. Good selection of restaurants in the area - including the up-market Four Seasons Resort, but also street food for a tasty snack. Wi fi throughout.
Access to onsite pool. Massage and spa treatment can be arranged, as can Thai cooking classes and water colour painting by skilled local artists.
Transport is essential and this too can be arranged quite inexpensively. Airport pickup $20.
What is unique about our place is the level of local knowledge we can provide, and access to all the most interesting events.

  • We were attracted to Mae Nai Gardens Initially from the quiet location just outside Chiang Mai. We had recently got married & wanted somewhere nice & peaceful to have a relaxing honeymoon over the Songkran holiday. After looking at the beautiful pictures on the website we decided to stay in the main house, correspondence prior to arriving with Ian was very prompt & informative & all questions answered honestly, transfer from the airport was also kindly organised.. There is part of me that wants to be very selfish & write a bad review here so we could somehow keep this little Oasis to ourselves but It really wouldn't be fair to Ian & Pop who have an absolutely amazing house & gardens. Unfortunately we didn't meet Ian as he was out of town but his partner Pop was very kind & respectful to our needs we were made to feel like friends as opposed to customers nothing was too much trouble. After talking to Pop you start to understand the amazing attention to detail and hard work gone into there beautiful home & gardens the pictures on the website don't do it justice. It really is a beautiful, peaceful place to relax teeming with amazing wildlife. We can't thank Pop enough for making our Honeymoon really special. We will definitely be back!

Hi my name is Ian, I am a retired English teacher with homes in both Scotland and Thailand. We really enjoy having Airbnb guests staying with us. So far they have all been great and have really appreciated our small, exclusive resort in the countryside just outside Chiang Mai. I think what most guests like are the personal touches that we provide. We can help them find the best places to visit, often off the regular tourist trail. Also, we know all the best places to eat, whether it be Thai food or western cuisine. And sometimes a visit will coincide with a party or celebration which they are usually welcome to join, so they get to meet some of the locals, both Thai and ex-pats. We speak both English and Thai, and can get by in French, so it is usually easy to fix anything for our guests, whether it be massage or spa treatment; medical issues; or trips, car hire or onward travel. We have very good links with the local community. The most common response we get is that guests wish they'd booked for a longer stay! Update: we now offer cooking classes onsite which avoid a journey to town and which are specifically catered to meet your particular preferences. Massage is also now available onsite.
