Our 2 rooms are spacious and comfortable and have a relaxed feeling close to the wonderful Presidents Park for a walk along the Werribee River, guests enjoy a large kitchen that has everything it in that a chef would want and close to transport.

The Space

Our property is a little unique given that we have a completely edible garden, we have our own chickens, from which we get fresh eggs from each day and we love to cook so our guests get a real treat come breakfast time.

Our House is nearly 3 years old, it has 4 bedrooms, of which we have two for hire , there is a rumpus/games room, a large family meals and kitchen area that overlooks our organic edible garden. We have a sustainable property that provides all of our vegetable and herb requirements all year round. We have two bathrooms and the house is very modern.

Our guests experience what it is like to eat from the freshest and tastiest produce at their finger tips. They also get to experience walks along the beautiful Werribee River in presidents park which is only metres form our front door. Experience the bird life on dawn and dusk and the pristine fresh air of country living.

Werribee is only 32klms from Melbourne's CBD but as we are in the food bowl of Melbourne's food growing districts we rank highly on great restaurants and eateries, cafe,s and take away food restaurants.

100 metres from our front door connects you to a half hourly bus that will take you into the township or to the train station where a 30 minute trip gets you into the heart of Melbourne, you can't drive there that fast!

I hope you enjoy your stay!

There is a bus 6 doors down that takes you to Werribee Railway Station, or to Werribee Plaza.
You can also get a gull sky bus from Melbourne airport to Werribee for $20.00

  • I was stuck and Craig found a bed for me. A great host , I got heaps of information about setting out a garden and so much information about the different types of fruit that we can grow ourselves

  • Craig and Kerry are wonderful hosts, from the moment I arrived into their home I knew I was safe. I enjoyed chatting with Craig who is very passionate about his garden and had a great sense of humour and he always put a smile on my face. Next time I come to Melbourne I will definitely stay with Craig and Kerry and can only but recommend this fantastic couple and their home to all who are searching for a very comfortable and affordable accommodation.

  • Our second stay with Craig and Kerry was only a brief one (1 night) but we were still very warmly welcomed, and they showed interest in our holiday, which was very nice. A great couple to stay with - highly recommended.

  • Staying with Craig and Kerry was just great. I am not a very city oriented person so exploring Melbourne from a bit of a distance was perfect. Bus stop right outside house to train station with regular services to city, all told an hour to travel in and very easy. Wonderful home grown veg available to use in dinner and Craig is a wealth of information about how to lead a more food sustainable lifestyle. So many great tips! The room is large and comfortable and the bathroom is shared only with guests in the second airbnb room. The gorgeous Jack Russells, Patch and Gemma are a great added bonus: very friendly and so adorable. The local area is also really nice with plenty to see and do if you want a day off from Melbourne. I felt really welcome and comfortable during my time here, thanks for a great few days Craig and Kerry.

  • We really had a wonderful time there with Craig and Kerry also with Gemma and Patch. They were really welcoming us, it makes us feel like home. We miss everything in that house, especially the chickens and the farms and also Jack and Michael. They are also a great companion to talk with, tennis too! feel like family... Their house is spacious, clean, and full of facility..We would definetely come back!

  • It was a privilege to be in Craig and Kerry's home - I loved staying there. It was fascinating to learn about their city farm and to see for myself what was possible to achieve in a backyard in the city. Craig has vast knowledge on a range of topics which he is willing to share and he took the time to explain things and answer all my questions. I think the passion for creating a sustainable lifestyle rubbed off a bit. Their house is large and spacious and guests pretty much have their own section in the house with it's own bathroom so you don't have to worry about disturbing anyone. I was (website hidden)ing at odd hours but they couldn't hear me so that was a great bonus. The food from the garden and the food that Craig prepares is super tasty and now I'm hoping to make some home made food from scratch myself. It was always a pleasure to see Craig and Kerry - they're very warm, caring and generous, and make you feel like one of the family - or at least want to be:) Their 2 dogs are small, friendly and independent so you can have as much or as little contact as you want, especially since the house is big. I especially liked their fluffy chooks too. Thank you Craig and Kerry for all that you did and going out of your way for me, this is an experience I will always treasure. I hope to see you again.

  • We had an incredible time here, its not just a a room its a home and my family felt every bit welcome and comfortable in Craig & Kerrys home. We had our own private access to bathroom & toilet. Shared access to laundry, kitchen, dining & gym. We were able to enjoy freshly picked vegetables & fruit from Craigs garden and not to mention fresh honey too. The train station is just down the road for traveling to the city - its easy to do and the best way to get there. Would definitely come back here if ever we visited Melbourne again. A very educational stay being able to appreciate horticulture in a nutshell.

Edible Gardens by Craig Castree
Our property is a little unique given that we have a completely edible garden, we have our own chickens, from which we get fresh eggs from each day, and for those guests that like Bacon and eggs for Breakfast? Have we got a treat for you! There is nothing like fresh eggs and for that matter fresh anything that you have grown yourself so if you want us to make you a lunch or Dinner? let us know we will help you out. Craig is a bit of a frustrated Chef, he would like to think that he is a chef, whilst he isn't but he is not bad in the Kitchen all the same. Sheesh he even makes his own cheese! And of course with our edible garden he is always taking someone out there to tell them or show them something. "We are here for a good time not a long time"
