About This Listing
A centrally-located classic San Francisco Victorian apartment. All major transit lines cross within 2 blocks of the apartment. Great neighborhood for shopping, small cafes and restaurants. Perfect for corporate or longer term stays. Welcome. Len
This centrally located Victorian Studio was built in 1890; classic San Francisco architecture outside--totally modern inside. Perfect for a single or couple. I have a queen size airbed if you want to add a third person or have two separate beds.
This apartment is great for exploring and enjoying San Francisco from a native’s perspective. Shop at the local stores, enjoy coffee at the neighborhood cafes and enjoy the City views from several nearby parks. Try the local small cafes and bring leftovers home to enjoy later.
Everything you need is within easy walking distance. All the transit lines cross within 1 block--you easily take Muni ($2) to go anywhere in the City--enjoy the shopping, cafes, sights and events. Easy walk to the Castro, Hayes Valley and Lower Haight. The Civic Center, Symphony, Opera and downtown are within walking distance or take a very quick cab ride.
There is plenty of parking on the street for a car, just watch the street sweeping times.
The spacious living room has full sunlight during the day, 12’ high ceilings and places to just relax. The sleeping loft has a queen bed; up a few steps. The kitchen is fully equipped to heat up your leftovers or cook up a full meal. Several great grocery stores are only a block away. I'll provide all the bedding, linen and basic supplies you'll need.
We have a super fast wireless internet service and a large work area/desk.
I’ve owned this apartment for 10 years—it’s my second home here in San Francisco. I’m happy to share this great apartment with you during your stay in San Francisco. If I can answer a specific question, send me an email anytime.
I am looking forward to your stay.
You will have access to everything in the apartment. I've left items in the refrigerator for you to enjoy. There are items you can use in the closet: toaster, iron, ironing board, umbrella, grocery bags, small tools.
Interaction with Guests
There is a lock box for the key just to the left of the front door. I live 30 minutes south if you need any help. Otherwise, I am available by text, email or phone the rest of the time.
About as central as you can get in San Francisco. All the light rail lines cross within a block or two of the apartment. We are 3 blocks from Davies Medical Center, a short walk to the Castro, and easy walk to the Opera or Symphony. Downtown is quick by Muni or a 20 minute walk.
$2 will get you anywhere in the City on Muni. Bart ($ depends upon distance) will take you further around the Bay Area.
Great area for walking around--I highly recommend walking to restaurants on Market, Fillmore or Haight.
Other Things to Note
Highly recommend walking, shopping and checking out the cafes and small restaurants in the immediate neighborhood. It's a great spot in San Francisco to feel like a local during your stay.
Few rules--just enjoy the visit.
Please help yourself to everything in the refrigerator and in the cabinets. I've left it for you.
Hair dryer and bath scale (to check your luggage weight) under the bath vanity. Extra supplies including a toaster, an iron & board, shopping bags in the hall closet.
All sorts of items (wine and can opener, tools, scissors, knife, lighter) in the top drawer in kitchen.
Please lock the entry door deadbolt each time. My downstairs neighbor appreciates your consideration.
Thank you for not smoking inside the apartment.
Text or email me when you arrive and again just as you are leaving--that way I know all is OK. Keys can go back in the key box when you leave. Have a great stay in San Francisco.
From Mar 1 - May 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 30 nights.
Len's place is very cozy and well equipped for cooking, the area is amazing, 5 min from all u need, literally! Len is great, he met me as I arrived and showed me around! Highly recommended place to stay!
Len was a fabulous host. This is our second time staying at his apartment, and we had a lovely stay. The apartment is spacious and comfortable. Its proximity to many transit routes makes it a snap to get around the city. I can't say enough good things about our experience!
The host Len has made the check-in/out process extremely efficient and flexible. As a result I had more time for my business in the city. The hand written welcoming note and fresh flowers are extra touches.
The apartment is of typical Victorian style, and has a lot of character. So is the neighborhood. It's definitely an unique experience that most hotels cannot compare to. There's a heated towel rack in the bathroom, which makes it luxurious.
The location is nice - two blocks from the N or J line. As mentioned the neighborhood has a lot of character. Many restaurants and bars within a couple of blocks, and it feels safe to walk around at night.
There doesn't seem to be AC or heater in the unit. While the temperature was OK for me it could be different in extreme weather.
The fridge has a noticeable and constant clicking sound. It should be repaired/replaced soon.
Overall I highly recommend the apartment to anyone looking to stay in SF.
We are very fortunate here in San Francisco with such a mild climate so we rarely need air conditioning. The apartment has both a gas fireplace and an electric backup heater which we use only a few times a year. I have fixed both the refrigerator and the door lock. Really glad Hui enjoyed her visit to San Francisco. Thanks
This was a great experience. Len was extremely welcoming and attentive, both before our arrival and during our stay.
He showed us around when we arrived, not only on his loft, but also the surrounding areas, giving us the must essential information about the neighbourhood, transportation, and even some great tips on local restaurants and cafes.
The place itself is great. Everything is as advertised, if not better. It can very well accommodate two, the kitchen is very well equiped, and Len left us with a very detailed information on how everything works, from the internet connection to the coffee maker.
Also, we were extremely and gladly surprised to have some provisions on the kitchen when we arrived (some sodas, pods for the coffee maker, crackers and even some mac&cheese packs).
The location is great. Is one block away from a tram station, two blocks away from subway, half a block away from a bus stop. Basically, you are connected to anywhere on the city without having to walk all that much.
If you, however, like to discover the city by foot, this is also a great place to have a base. The Haight, Castro and Hayes Valley are extremely close by. Downtown, Mission, the beach... are a little further away, but still walking distance.
Lens is very welcoming. The apartment is exactly as it it has been described. It is well located also. I strongly recommend it.
We had a great stay at Len's lovely studio apartment. Fantastic location- walking distance to the mission/ Castro/Hayes valley/haight st, great little neighborhood cafés round the corner, and a roomy, light-filled apartment. Len was very welcoming and gave us some good local tips. Highly recommended.
Len's place was light, airy, and perfectly centrally located for a great weekend in San Francisco. He was responsive and totally helpful with any questions myself or my mom had with the process. I would highly recommend his place to anyone visiting!
About the Host, Len
Welcome to San Francisco. It is a great City and would love for you stay to in my apartment here in the middle of San Francisco. I bought this building 10 years ago as my second home--I live only 30 minutes away.
I especially appreciate the architecture of San Francisco and the urban lifestyle. In addition, I love to travel. What really interests me is how people live and work in different countries. We have a pretty good thing going here in California, but there is so much to learn from other cultures.
Looking forward to hearing from you. Len
Most restaurants have Wifi as well as my house. San Francisco is a well connected city.
Great spot for coffee and pastries. Also recommend the happy hour--I especially like the Pear cider.
Great alternative to Safeway for natural foods.
Far and away my favorite sandwich shop. I have been there so many times they know my order by heart: #17 Filmore on sliced sour dough with pickles.
If you are into Indian food, this place is great--always popular.
Friends make fun of the name, but it is a great spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Huge menu board--something for everyone.
Hate to say it, but Safeway is open 24/7 and is well stocked. The deli is huge and great place to grab something to bring back to eat at home if you don't feel like cooking.
There are 2 Starbucks, one inside Safeway and the other just to the left--both are perfect for that Starbucks fix.
If it's a nice day, sit outside. It's across the street from the most dog friendly park in San Francisco. There is a great kids play ground in the park that my then younger daughter really enjoyed.
Try Bean There for a real San Francisco coffee shop experience. Say hi to the neighbors that gather there.
Very small restaurant with great fresh fish--highly recommend.
If the weather is nice, sit way in the back in the patio. Great menu and something for everyone here
Walk up to the top of the park--a most fantastic view of downtown San Francisco. Great open lawns, perfect for sun, food and drink.
Cliffs Variety has everything--check it out when you walk down Castro Street.
You must take a ride on a San Francisco cable car. But if you want to know how they work, go to the cable car museum--well worth the time.
If you are a tourist, you must go to Fisherman's Wharf. We have restaurants, sweatshirts, pigeons and crab snacks to go. Have your picture taken there.
Do not miss walking out onto the Golden Gate Bridge. Be sure to bring a jacket--it can be cool and windy.
