The Space

This centrally located Victorian Studio was built in 1890; classic San Francisco architecture outside--totally modern inside. Perfect for a single or couple. I have a queen size airbed if you want to add a third person or have two separate beds.

This apartment is great for exploring and enjoying San Francisco from a native’s perspective. Shop at the local stores, enjoy coffee at the neighborhood cafes and enjoy the City views from several nearby parks. Try the local small cafes and bring leftovers home to enjoy later.

Everything you need is within easy walking distance. All the transit lines cross within 1 block--you easily take Muni ($2) to go anywhere in the City--enjoy the shopping, cafes, sights and events. Easy walk to the Castro, Hayes Valley and Lower Haight. The Civic Center, Symphony, Opera and downtown are within walking distance or take a very quick cab ride.

There is plenty of parking on the street for a car, just watch the street sweeping times.

The spacious living room has full sunlight during the day, 12’ high ceilings and places to just relax. The sleeping loft has a queen bed; up a few steps. The kitchen is fully equipped to heat up your leftovers or cook up a full meal. Several great grocery stores are only a block away. I'll provide all the bedding, linen and basic supplies you'll need.

We have a super fast wireless internet service and a large work area/desk.

I’ve owned this apartment for 10 years—it’s my second home here in San Francisco. I’m happy to share this great apartment with you during your stay in San Francisco. If I can answer a specific question, send me an email anytime.

I am looking forward to your stay.

Guest Access

You will have access to everything in the apartment. I've left items in the refrigerator for you to enjoy. There are items you can use in the closet: toaster, iron, ironing board, umbrella, grocery bags, small tools.

Interaction with Guests

There is a lock box for the key just to the left of the front door. I live 30 minutes south if you need any help. Otherwise, I am available by text, email or phone the rest of the time.

The Neighborhood

About as central as you can get in San Francisco. All the light rail lines cross within a block or two of the apartment. We are 3 blocks from Davies Medical Center, a short walk to the Castro, and easy walk to the Opera or Symphony. Downtown is quick by Muni or a 20 minute walk.

Getting around

$2 will get you anywhere in the City on Muni. Bart ($ depends upon distance) will take you further around the Bay Area.
Great area for walking around--I highly recommend walking to restaurants on Market, Fillmore or Haight.

Other Things to Note

Highly recommend walking, shopping and checking out the cafes and small restaurants in the immediate neighborhood. It's a great spot in San Francisco to feel like a local during your stay.

  • Cool apartment with two levels. Great neighbourhood and excellent transport connections to everywhere in SF. There's a lot of parks, pubs and stores around. Len was very welcoming, leaving us detailed descriptions for directions. Certainly recommend!

  • I stayed in Len's sweet little townhome for about two weeks while in San Francisco for a company conference. It's very spacious and centrally located right next to the Lower Haight/Duboce triangle. So many great shops and restaurants literally paces away. Check in was a breeze and Len was communicative and welcoming (although we didn't actually meet). His home had a helpful handmade guidebook and snacks and sodas for me to enjoy. His kitchen is outfitted very well with everything you'd need to make an awesome meal. He even had a towel warmer in the bathroom, very nice touch!

One thing to note: the sleeping area is very much camp style, complete with small ladder for climbing to the sleeping loft. I happen to be 5'3", so it wasn't as much of an issue, but a much taller person may have trouble with this arrangement. Once up there, the bed was fairly comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

  • We had a great stay at Len's Lower Haight a apartment - close to all public transport and a safe area to explore beautiful SF! Len was very responsive and super helpful to anything we needed. The apartment was spacious and clean, with a lovely kitchen and bathroom. Would recommend to anyone!

  • Len's studio was fabulous. We stayed for a week. It's very close to many transit options and we found it very easy to get all around the city by public transit. There was lots of tasty food and groceries within a short walk. The studio was beautiful, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. We loved the heated towel bar and excellent shower in the bathroom. The kitchen was clean and well-appointed. Len was easy to work with -- everything was smooth and organized. We had a great experience and would not hesitate to come back!

  • San Francisco is a wonderful city usually barely tapped by tourists, in my opinion. Our plans was to stay in the city for 7 days, in a more residential neighbourhood, with easy access to tourist attractions and Len's apartment in Lower Haight was perfect!
We were literally walking distance to Mission, Hayes Valley, Castro, Haight-Ashbury and all the great parks in SF. The apartment is 1 block away of all the transport you will need in SF. It couldn't be better. Me and my wife, we fell in love with the city and Lower Haight and Hayes Valley is a perfect place for a first time impression of the city. Great cafes and amazing restaurants in a range of feew blocks. Organic groceries with tons of options for a picnic in the park or a nice meal at home.
For San Francisco first timers like us, I definitely recommend the neighborhood.

  • I doubt we could have found a better place to stay on our visit to San Francisco; amazingly located (in what began to feel like the center of the city) there was nowhere we wanted to go that didn't intersect with Len's apartment. Clean, comfortable, charming, quirky (as the best San Francisco apartments are) it was easy to feel at home.

    Highly, Highly recommended.

  • Len, thank you for sharing your apartment. I had one of the best times ever during my three week stay. It was just so easy to catch the public transport and to walk to many areas of the city. As I do a lot of salsa, I would also get back past 2:00am and so it was fantastic to be able to visit the 24 hour Safeway just round the corner if I needed a midnight snack. The kitchen was great, I read three of your books and loved the cosy bed. To be quite honest, I was really sad when I had to leave due to my responsibilities back home.

I have so many stories of the people I met in the local area and I even had dinner with many of the people who visit the local bar. Thank you again for everything and your fabulous hospitality. Ben

  • You gotta rent this appartment!!! Definitely... Trust me, as a young man who meanwhile likes the calm and quietness but also the life of a neigborhood. Len's place is perfectly located at the junction between many point of interests : Castro, Hayes Valley. Plus, really convenient to go to Marina northbound for fresh air over a cute little harbor with beautiful green spaces. You catch the 22 few doors away and you'll get to the bus stop on the same street... Many nice bars and good restaurant (including our beloved "Kitchen Story" which mixes thai and californian food on Sanchez St which is located couple blocks away...
Above all, Len is a really organised owner with good guidances with a file with everything you need (wifi, laundry, supermarket, etc etc) and he is always tuned to bring his help!
It was really nice and so pleasant to stay in his place with such good conditions.
So, please GO AHEAD! You woudln't be disappointed. Kind of the perfect place downtown...
    Enjoy!

About
Welcome to San Francisco. It is a great City and would love for you stay to in my apartment here in the middle of San Francisco. I bought this building 10 years ago as my second home--I live only 30 minutes away. I especially appreciate the architecture of San Francisco and the urban lifestyle. In addition, I love to travel. What really interests me is how people live and work in different countries. We have a pretty good thing going here in California, but there is so much to learn from other cultures. Looking forward to hearing from you. Len
