About this listing

In the middle of the vibrant and historic Haight Ashbury district, a peaceful and relaxing space that you will feel at home in.

The space

Perfect for a couple, this one bedroom apartment on the second floor boasts abundant natural light, charming Edwardian details such as stained-glass windows, and a gas pot-belly stove to keep you toasty on chilly days. The eat-in kitchen is outfitted with modern appliances and equipped with everything you'll need. The apartment is exclusively for guests, not used as a home, so you will find it sparsely decorated and free of clutter. Television with basic channels is also internet ready so you can watch Hulu, Netflix or Amazon or even hook up your laptop. If you're not too busy sightseeing, that is! There's plenty to see without going far.

"The Haight," as the locals call it, is a popular destination because of the unique shops and restaurants on Haight Street, as well as the historical significance in the 60's movement. You'll find a fantastic local grocery store only a block away. Golden Gate Park, with museums, a botanical garden, and the Conservatory of Flowers, is only half a mile away. Why don't you hop on the bike and ride to the ocean? Bicycle, helmet and lock available upon request. If you'd rather travel by bus, you'll be pleased to learn that many buses stop at the corner. And it's only a ten minute ride to downtown San Francisco.

After a long day of sight-seeing, come back to this relaxing home-away-from-home.

Great stay at Benita's apartment. Close to many things to see and do in San Francisco. Located in the colorful Haight Ashbury neighborhood.

Benita was a wonderful host, she was attentive and responsive even though she was out of the country. I felt welcomed from start to finish. I stayed for the month of April, 2016 and enjoyed my stay immensely. The flat is gorgeous, every bit as much as the pictures indicate. You will get a true and complete Haight Ashbury experience staying here! You are literally half a block from everything. And the proximity to Golden Gate Park was a highlight for me. I walked and ran to and through the park frequently. Everything in the flat was wonderful: kitchen is all upgraded, heat-stove is marvelous, bathroom fine, bedroom delightful. Tons of closet space. Highest recommendation!

The first moment we stepped into Benita's apartment, we could not believe how comfortable and beautiful it was. Everything about it was fresh, pretty, and welcoming. The natural light, especially, was a treat. The kitchen was well equipped, modern, stylish, and efficient. The living room was airy, tastefully appointed, and separated from the bedroom by two sliding wooden doors. The gas stove for heat was charming. The bed was comfy, with a nice quilt. We were a little concerned that the street would be loud, but though the traffic was busy, the cars didn't honk and the pedestrians weren't rowdy. We closed the bedroom doors and that did the trick for sleeping. Parking was sometimes tricky. Our tips: head uphill to find open spots, and don't park next to any parks overnight as vandals are known to break car windows there. Benita was easy to communicate with and super nice. We had our travel plans affected by family matters, and Benita was incredibly generous about letting us shift our dates with very little notice, at no extra cost. I'm grateful. This was a great Airbnb experience. I highly recommend this apartment. I would return in a heartbeat.

A great apartment right in the famous Haight-Ashbury. The apartment is nice and cozy, comfortable with a fire place and all the necessary facilities except washer and drier (those are outside the apartment, but we just used Benita had all the necessary information waiting for us, check-in and check-out were immediate and easy. Benita was available for questions and was very responsive. Overall we had a great stay!

For the most part, I really enjoyed my time at Benita's apartment. For a couple or single person, it is ideal- lots of space, beautiful light, comfortable bed, a roomy kitchen, everything you need. When I arrived, it was in great shape and super clean. When in the past I've rented airbnbs in older buildings, dust and cleanliness in general are often issues- but here it was spick and span. The neighborhood is very eclectic and funky. It's as if the 60s have stayed alive in Haight-Ashbury- but some great bites and cafes. Sometimes I didn't feel safe walking home late at night but that's true of a lot of San Fran- and it's hard to predict. On Haight St (right next to the apartment) there are quite a few homeless people pretty much nonstop- but overall, it adds to the experience of staying there! My main complaint was with the contact with Benita. Because she is not in the US, most issues are handled thru her friend in SF- but there was a lot of miscommunication and when the heater broke, it took about ten days for the fix to happen. Her friend brought a space heater- which was a big help- but there was no acknowledgement from Benita about the trouble or the wait. Still, I really loved staying in the place and because I'm partial to the green spaces in SF, you have wonderful options within an easy walk/bike ride at GG park. Just be aware of the neighborhood and the lack of direct personal contact.

My family lives in Alameda, just across the bay. I have lived in the area since 2002 and I think San Francisco is one of the nicest places in the world. I should know! Because I've lived in many countries growing up as a child and continue to travel widely as an adult. I think you will love it here too.
