We had a wonderful stay in Montreal! The apartment was well decorated and very clean, and Memo was really helpful in making sure we got into the room (we couldn't figure out the keypad, but he came down to the apartment as soon as we called at ten at night to help us out). Perfect location too. Thank you!!!!
Memo was a great host! He went out of his way to help us with our luggage when we arrived in town early, so we wouldn't have to haul it around. The apartment is in a great location, with all of of the city's amenities within walking distance. Just around the corner is Place des Arts or Chinatown., and many great places to eat (try Notkins!), as well. If you're visiting Montreal, you can't go wrong with Memo's place.
PROS: The apartment location was excellent, in walking distance to the old town and waterfront, and with easy access to long-term parking and the metro.
Our host was extremely responsive when there was an unexpected flood from the washing machine. He was very quick to respond via email (since our US phones were off) and came over within 2 hours to take care of the problem. He also helped us get online and connect our computers to chromecast to project netflix on the large screen (although when we tried it later, it played with a delayed picture, so we abandoned the effort).
The apt. is nicely furnished and comes with a kitchen with everything you'll need. It's on the 7th floor of a building with a nice vantage overlooking the street.
Our host had also provided maps and tour info.
The plumbing. At one point the toilet got clogged and wouldn't flush. Unfortunately, I could not find a plunger in the apt. and had to keep flushing to try and get it to clear. The bathroom sink also drained extremely slow.
When we first pulled back the sheets, the sheets did not look clean. There was several human hairs and some dirt on the bottom sheet. My partner thought that perhaps it was from the washing machine not working properly. I did not think the sheets had been changed. But, there were several sets of clean linens in the closet and so we changed the sheets ourselves and let it go.
A few things in the apt. need to be addressed: One of the lamps next to the bed would not switch off after switched on, so I had to unplug and re-plug it in after the first time. Also, one of the lamps in the living room was missing a bulb. Our host let us know that one of the blinds was broken as well.
Also, it would be great for the host to leave a welcome book with basic info of how to get in touch, what to do in an emergency, and how to connect to the internet (even though it is mostly all available online, great to have again).
Overall, a fine stay in Montreal if you're looking for location and basics. If you're a stickler for details, you might want to consider another place.
Memo's Flat was a welcome change from a Hotel stay while attending an Expo. He mentioned a great lunch spot in Chinatown and helped with directions to Palais des congrès. Walking in town was also a pleasure, and he even supplied umbrellas. I was able to visit the historic port area as well as Le Plateau-Mont-Royal all within walking distance. Also the nearby shopping district on St Catherine St. and "Art in the Park" concerts going on all week long. I can highly recommend him as a host!
We really enjoyed our stay at Memo's place, which is cute, clean, comfortable, and central - we walked everywhere! There is a well-equipped kitchen, towels, toiletries, large sitting area and comfy bed. Check-in and check-out was seamless and Memo was very helpful with any questions. Great air bnb location in Montreal!
