Small animals in cage or tank ok. There is an older cat here (she is not allowed in the room), and she does not get along with other cats or dogs. A backyard dog is negotiable, a cat or dog locked in the room is not.
Room faces a busy street, so you will hear some street noise. Fruitvale is an eclectic area of Oakland. There is a huge Mexican influence but it is also very diverse. If you are looking for a comfortable room to relax in at the end of your day, this space is right for you. If you are looking for a super hip and trendy area and San Francisco to be right outside, this may not be your best option.
Off street and gated parking for a small or mid-sized car or motorcylcles (free street parking for larger vehicles/SUVs). Kitchen/livingroom access. Charming back yard. 5 minute walk to huge Mexican grocery store.
Interaction with Guests
I work full time, and keep fairly busy, but I am always happy to chat when I'm cooking in the kitchen, and usually won't turn down a walk to the market or to get a taco down the street.
The neighborhood is diverse and eclectic. This is a lower-income, working class area - so expect extremely inexpensive mexican dining and taco trucks. The nearest Supermarket is only a few blocks away. The nearest Cafes are near the BART station (15 minute walk). Two Mammas Cafe is all-vegan and serves Sunday Brunch.
Fruitvale BART (1 mile/15 minutes)
-The 14 bus line stops right outside
-Supermarkets, taquerias, dry cleaning, 24 hour 7-11, shops, park w/basketball courts.
Less than 10 minute drive to:
-Alameda (Nightlife, dining, beach, etc)
-San Leandro/Castro Valley
Other Things to Note

-Please close and lock Windows and doors before leaving the house.
It was a very nice stay at Michelle's home. She was friendly, helped us and gave us lots of advise for visiting San Francisco. It was a very nice room with lots of space. We had our own part in the fridge and in the cupboard. The next BART Station is a 20-25 min walk away.
Good: The room and bathroom are clean and comfortable. Michelle has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. The shower has a lot of pressure which I love!
Bad: Be careful if you attempt to park parallel in front of her house. The driveways create ledges, one of which my car got stuck dangling over and required a tow truck to dislodge. Also, the neighborhood/street noise is full of loud music, traffic, and the occasional siren.
All in all: I would recommend staying here. Michelle is a kind person who runs a clean bnb.
A gorgeous house and a great little room to stay in. The room was the exactly as described and more.
The room has everything you may need, including the coffee and lint roller!
Michelle was very friendly and welcoming as was her gorgeous cat, Thea.
I would highly recommend anyone to stay here. Near to the BART and a couple of nice cafes too.
Michelle is an experienced host, and her home is clean and comfortable. I had a pleasant stay there and highly recommend her place.
Now this is a really nice place. I stayed at Michelle's lovely house for two weeks and everthing was perfect. The listing's description is very accurate and the amenities are excellent. Michelle is easy to talk to and made me feel welcome.
Really enjoyed my stay here. It was just the type of space I needed to unwind at the end of long days in the midst of a transition to a new apartment. Michelle was super nice and we got the chance to chat from time to time. I felt comfortable and welcomed and used the kitchen quite a bit while I was there. Also, the tub/shower is awesome and the backyard is a really nice touch. Thanks again, Michelle!
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
About the Host, Michelle
Hey there, I'm 35 and have had great experiences using AirBnB!
I love to garden, cook, hike, attend yoga, ride my motorcycle, and share dinner with friends. I'm a healthy eater, believe in sustainability, and am pretty low key. I'm mostly vegan, but you don't have to be; I do it for health and will not be offended!
I look forward to meeting you for your short-term, affordable stay in the Bay Area, and am not looking for a long term tenant at the present time.
