Spacious private room in America's most beautiful village.
Double bed and full private bath down the hallway.
This room is smaller than the primary listing but still very comfy.
Five minute walk to the center of the village with excellent restaurants, independent movie theater and stores.
Bard College, Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, Franklin Roosevelt's home, Culinary Institute and many other fine things are in the area... it's wonderful here... enjoy!
For New York City Airbnbers: No need to rent a car. You can take the Amtrak train to Rhinecliff and then a taxi over.
I had a lovely time staying at Catherine's home! It was the perfect place to stay for an Omega retreat - so quiet and peaceful that it was almost like being on campus. Catherine was easy to communicate with and a welcoming presence.
I was in town for the NY Sheep and Wool Festival, and this was exactly what I was looking for! A quick walk into the shops/restaurants and also a very quick walk to the fairgrounds.
Also loved that Miu Miu stepped in to take care of my feline withdrawals :)
If I'm ever back in Rhinebeck, I hope I can stay here again!
Catherine was easy to get a hold of and to communicate with. She always replied promptly to email or phone messages. She was also helpful with info about activities in the area and maps/directions. The house is large and very quiet. Our room was bigger than expected and very comfortable with lots of windows. We enjoyed the friendly cat who liked to hang out in our room! Basic amenities were available like heat & hot water. The house is located with in walking distance of the Dutchess County fairgrounds and the center of Rhinebeck. It is also a short drive or bike ride to Ferncliff Forest & Nature Preserve.
Catherine was a very good host. Very comfortable and specious room. I was attending a course at Omega Institute and this was a perfect location. I would definitely stay with Catherine again.
Catherine was very accommodating - flexible when it turned out I wasn't going to be able to get there until 10pm instead of 4pm, and immediately accepting my request and emailing me back. Room was clean and simple. Only alerts would be not suitable for those with cat allergies since the cat had clearly snuggled on particular spots on the bedspread; and wouldn't recommend it for those (couples, perhaps?) wanting true privacy (per usual in old houses, the walls are thin). The bed was very comfy! Had a nice high-density foam topper on it. Perfect set up for my "I just need a place to sleep and shower" needs.
I lived by Catherine for the first two weeks of my research stay at Bard College. Evertything was fantastic: Catherine was lovely, very careful and tactful at the same time. She let me use the kitchen and we had sometimes dinner together - and with her lovely "puppy", Miles ;) I enjoyed our conversations and the time we spent together. Her house is wonderful, the guest room and guest restroom are very confortable and nice. I would recommend Catherine's place to anyone who is planning a stay in that marvelous area.
Everything was fine. Perfect stay. Easy and uncomlicated. Highly recommended. Thank you very much.
For anyone wanting to spend time in Rhinebeck NY and environs, and for anyone who is attending the Bard College Summerscape Music Festival (and lives south, east, or west of the H.V,), this location couldn't be more ideal. It's a five minute walk into the main intersection of Rhinebeck, a two-minute drive to the Everready Diner (a really good diner), and about a twelve-minute drive to the Bard College Campus.
a little bit hard to find the house at first
a steep set of stairs to clime
a wayward cat who ay be hiding under your bed
a somewhat dangerous climb into the bathtub/shower
bathroom could be better equipped - no towel rack, bring your own cup, not as clean as it could be
very quiet; saw the host only once, when I first came. Plenty of privacy
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Kate was a wonderful host; the room was simple and immaculate. It was the perfect place to stay for a couple on a short weekend.
