This place was everything we hoped it would be and much more. We felt so welcome by Gabriella. Gorgeous view and gardens, beautiful immaculate private room. Peaceful. Walking distance from shops and restaurants. I look forward to visiting again. Thanks for the amazing hospitality Gabriella.
What an experience! Gabriella greeted us at the door, showed us our beautiful room. And welcomed us upstairs into her home. What a spectacular home she has renovated! Seriously, a sight to be seen. Gabriella was kind enough to make dinner reservations for us and we had such wonderful conversations with her. The next morning, she had lattes and toast ready for us. We stayed at four different Airbnb places during our road trip and this was hands down the best one!
We would like to chime in with all the other accolades. Gabriella was a gracious host and made us feel right at home and the wine was a nice touch.
My wife and I stayed for four nights to escape the routine and daily stresses. Gabriella’s home was the relaxing retreat we needed. It was nice to relax, look out over the water as the sunset and watch the stars at night. If you’re wanting to escape the hubbub and stay at a quiet and comfortable place, set in a corner of paradise, then this is a great place. You have an excellent view of the bay; there’s a park next door; paths to the beach and to the town center.
The pictures are only show a glimpse of her beautifully restored 1800’s home. The décor includes antique furniture and settings right down to the authentic chinking of her logs. Her home is like walking into the past with the modern amenities
Gabriella was an excellent resource for the local area and her recommendations for the restaurants were spot-on.
We hope to be able to return soon and highly recommend this place.
This was our first experience with air bnb and I will start off by saying Gabriella set the bar very high! She was an absolute gracious host. We very much enjoyed skipping an afternoon nap upon arrival to sit by her fireplace and chat with her and other guests. Her house is beautifully restored (I still cannot get over her kitchen!) and our room was very comfortable. The steam shower was definitely a great addition, not to mention the view. She was kind enough to provide us with dinner suggestions and to leave our name at the front desk as we were a little late and the restaurant would be closing soon. We only stayed one night, but loved her hospitality and property so much (feeding the chickens included!) we will definitely book again soon for a longer weekend!
Hostess was very welcoming and made us feel like old friends. The listing and picture were a good match. It was a short walk to town and the park was next door. All were storybook perfect.
The photos and reviews are only a tip off to how wonderful The Sea Captain's House is. There's something truly special about this place.
My heart melted as soon as I walked into Gabriella's courtyard. The home and view are perfection. This was our first stay with Airbnb. As another reviewer stated, Gabriella's place has set the bar high.
I thought it would be fun to try something new with my youngest son (11) while his older brother spent a week fishing with his Uncle. My intention was to show him a good time somewhere new & explore along the way. We just needed a place to stay along our journey. I had no idea I was in for such a personal treat. Gabriella's home truly spoke to me in ways I cannot put to words. I cannot describe how perfect every part of the home and property are. I have a love for Antiques & anything with character. Gabriella has awed me with her home that oozes character and warmth. My heart was singing the whole stay. It was so much more than a place to sleep! It was a beautiful experience!
My son & I picked up a lovely dinner to-go in town & enjoyed a peaceful meal watching the sun set directly in front of our private room. Although I intended to spend the evening relaxing alone with my son playing Skip-bo & reading, to my surprise I felt drawn inside the main house. I'm generally pretty anti-social but found myself pulling up a chair & having the most wonderful evening visiting with Gabriella & another lovely guest. I enjoyed the fast friendship I made with two very lovely ladies. My son was thrilled to find another boy his age was also a guest there. While us ladies visited, the boys were able to enjoy one anothers company equally. Not the evening I had planned, but so much better. Gabriella is smart, genuine, beautiful and kind. The longer we spoke the more beautiful she became. Truly a priveledge to have spent time with her!
To our surprise, Gabriella brought amazing coffee, raisin bread toast & Cantelope to our suite door in the morning. She was such a wonderful host! She was incredibly accomodating and helpful from our arrival to our departure. I assure you that you will be glad you stayed here.
As corny as it may sound, it was a very theraputic experience to stay here. I left knowing my life had been changed somehow. I love the place so much! I wish it were mine to stay forever. (I've never felt this way about a place like this before!) You should definately stay there if you can!
The views! The town! The house! Gabriella! The views! The beautiful details of the home! The views! You can't go wrong! Go!
Gabriella it was a priveledge to spend time at your home. Thank you! Tracy & Tyler
We stayed in the private room, which is in the lower level of the house but feels very private because it has a separate entrance. Gabriella was so kind and welcoming, and made us feel very at home. The house and property are beautiful, and it is within walking distance of the shops, restaurants and waterfront of Coupeville.
On the property, there is a beautiful patio overlooking the water and a path that leads down to the beach. There is a small orchard with fruit trees, a gazebo and a chicken coop. It is all just beautiful and makes you feel a million miles away, whether you've come from across the country or just from the Seattle area, like we did.
The location is great for exploring the rest of Whidbey Island or just relaxing and hanging around Coupeville (you can even rent kayaks nearby).
We loved staying here, and we would highly recommend this room to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway!
