In the area there is so much to experience and this year around. Not least the unique nature of the High Coast World Heritage Site. Why not take a hike in the National Park School Forest? For those who want to swim in the Bothnian Sea, it is not far to the beach. In the area are many lakes bursting into nature for those who long for lake bathing. In autumn berries and mushrooms are plentiful.
Västernorrland is a mountain-coal landscape with lots of nature experiences and a breathtaking wilderness. You can visit exciting caves or scout for bears in the wilderness.
The High Coast is truly a wonderful place and we're so glad to share it with more. You can hike the popular High Coast - The path (2,5 km) up to Skuleberget's Toppstuga with perhaps Sweden's most beautiful views. You can take the boat to Ulvön, climb Via Ferrata. Or why not rent a kayak in the High Coast Kayaking Center and slide out between the mountains.
In winter, the High Coast is also a majestic landscape. There are slalom slopes and opportunities to rent snowmobiles and pimples.
In Hudiksvall you fish for herring and in Nordanstig there is rod fishing at sea on offer. If you are not lucky, you can always go on a canoe safari to Vildmarksbyn in Nordanstig where the bath and sauna and a culinary dinner are on the menu. Nordanstig otherwise has long sandy beaches but also hikes and golf. If you are looking for mysterious adventures, you are looking for clues and evidence in the Hassela forest – then talk about the Murders in Midwinter.
Ersk-Matsgården is one of many “Hälsingegårdar” where you get to know how they lived during the mid-1800s. Hälsingegårdarna is of a special character where the architecture and interior design have great space. There are over a thousand farms and many invite to various and fun activities, well worth a visit. They're all over the county.
Söderhamn's biggest draw is the archipelago with its 500 islands. The archipelago opens up many possibilities and has many excursions. The city itself has many parks to relax in, but to see a little more of the surroundings it may be worth taking in the beautiful nature from the horseback, or why not from the air and a parachute. Altitude afraid can always take the 32 km long trail past Sagberg with caves and mile-long views. Head to the Air Museum for some history or to Aquarena for a swim and play. A round of golf on one of Norrland's finest courses can be a good way to spend your time or why not a lunch in the meadow in the nature reserve Ålsjön.
More wilderness can be found in Bollnäs where, among other things, bear watching in Finnskogsriket is a different feature. Centrally located is Onbacken with ancient remains from the Iron Age and wintertime so you will bed down in traps for an old-fashioned sleigh ride.
An annual nature adventure in Ovanåker is "Canoe & Hoj" in Voxnabruk, Sweden's oldest multisport competition where paddling and orienteering are disciplines to be handled. In Edsbyn you can experience old-fashioned adventures in the form of gold-washing and rock-crystal picking.
Norrland has many animals to show off, at Järvzoo you can meet brown bears and wolves to name a few wild animals. Here is also the predator center De 5 stor where you can learn more about the animals through films and exhibitions. More excursions in Ljusdal are Hölick caves with its 1,340 meters that are visited at your own risk and Gröntjärns natural spring which is a narrow valley with high mountains around.
Hudiksvall also has a cave system, Boda Caves, of 2,622 meters, which is Sweden's third largest cave system.
Hudiksvall is located on the coast but has inland also several lakes. The beautiful Dellens lakes are a meteorite crater. Here it can be enough just to sit down with the high mountains as a view. If you want to look over Hudiksvallsfjärden, head to the golf course for a round of 18 holes. Visit the Glada Hudik Theatre, with a theatre group consisting of retarded actors. Bet a couple of crowns on Hagmyren which is a racetrack just outside Hudiksvall and for any winnings you can buy sweets at Fagerströms caramel factory. Here you have cooked candy since the beginning of the 1900s.
