Big and sunny room in a colourful, quiet and central apartment in Sagrada Familia neighbourhood. Very well connected by public transportation and a short walk away from many major city attractions. Couple of smiling and polite hosts included! ;-)
The apartment is in a 1950's building that is in mint condition and we are in the process of renovating the apartment too. We are trying to mantain the original spirit with a twist: we love colour! And have I mentioned that you can see the Sagrada Familia from this room's window? ; )
In our apartment you will enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom with shower, wi-fi connection and we also supply sheets and towels. You are also free to use the living room.
We’ll provide you with a set of keys (building and apartment’s) so you can be completely independent and come and go as you wish. The only limitation is that noise is to be kept to a minimum after 22h (we have thin walls and elderly neighbours and it is also a Barcelona city ordinance).
We love talking about our different countries and customs. In fact, it’s a beautiful way of learning about this wonderful world we live in. And since we love our city, giving advice about what to see and where to go is second nature to us. Depending on your tastes we will recommend you touristical places or the ones we locals enjoy. We live in the apartment too, so we'll be able to help you with anything else that you need.
In our neighborhood we have many different supermarkets and a lot of bakeries and restaurants (all kinds of cuisine, fast food included!). There’s also this little cafeteria right next door where you can have a very good Catalan lunch (Esther is such a good cook!) for an extremely reasonable price. And if you want to cook at home, we have a public market just around the corner and a fantastic fruits $ vegetables shop where you can buy directly from the farmer (absolutely recommended!!!).
On top of that, right outside our building you have Sagrada Familia, Sant Pau Hospital, Encants Vells market, Passeig Sant Joan and Gràcia neighbourhood. If you like going for a walk, within 30min you can also reach Parc Güell, Parc de la Ciutadella, Passeig de Gràcia, the beach or even Barri Gòtic (that's the old town).
About public transportation, you have two subway lines right here (we call them 'metro', by the way) and around 12 different bus lines. We recommend buying a T-10 card to use the public transportation system but you better check out the Barcelona Card just in case it suits you better.
We’re also very well connected to Sants Train Station and El Prat Airport. In case you come with your own car, there’s a couple of private garages around the building and also a low cost parking lot (perfect for longer stays) a little further away but directly connected by metro.
Any question left? Feel free to ask as many as you need. We look forward to meeting you!
And don't forget to take look at our Façebock (can’t mention it by name but you know what we mean, don’t you?). You can search us as ‘JoanPere Jaume’. Have a nice day!
Congenial, welcoming hosts, spacious room with great views of Sagrada Familia, quiet and restful atmosphere, easy metro to anywhere in Barcelona, good value. Would recommend to anyone coming through Barcelona.
We had a really nice, pleasant stay in the apartment of Joan Pere and Jaume! They are really helpful and open for questions. To borrow things, like a pareo for on the beach, was really friendly. You can feel they give a lot to make it the guests as comfortable as needed. The view of the Sagrada Familia is just great! Will miss that as my 'neighbourh'. Good hosts and recommended to stay, especially if you have never been in Barcelona and need some good advices where to go!
Jaume was a kind and helpful host and was home to greet us the evening we arrived. The location close to La Sagrada Familia, restaurants, and public transportation is excellent. You really can see the towers! On our second afternoon, Jaume prepared coffee and cookies for us while detailing the many wonderful things to see and do in Barcelona. One afternoon, we decided to go to the beach and Jaume provided us with towels and a blanket, as well as super easy instructions to catch the bus. The bedroom and bathroom are both clean and comfortable.
Overall our stay with Juame (as Joan was out of town on work) was Fabulous! We had a late arrival (1:30am) and Juame stayed up and greeting us with a smile on his face. He showed us around the area the following morning and made us very comfortable. He gave us very helpful, delicious and cost effective tips in the area. He was also very informative of the history and culture of Catalunya, which we truly appreciated.
As for the room and apartment, both were great! We stayed in the larger of the two rooms with the magnificent view of the Sagrada Familia. It had a large bed side table with light and wardrobe with space for you to use. It also had a futon couch for an extra bed should you need it. There was also space under the bed for your luggage, making the room very spacious even after you move in. The rest of the apartment is small but large enough to not be uncomfortable. There was another couple sharing the other room while we were there but we never felt too crowded. The kitchen is very compact, but has the essentials and some. Juame was happy to make space for you in the fridge and provided a bowl for your produce. One comment is that there is not alot of eating space, if you have more than two people. We would have enjoyed an area to sit and have dinner and maybe a couple drinks at home but there really isnt an area for this, however Barcelona is just oustide the doorway and plenty of cafes/restuarants, and Juame would be happy to recommend a place.
The building, is generally pretty quiet, can hear noise outside in the morning, but we also slept with the windows open and it is a city so its expected. The budiling is old but in a good way. The elevator is old fashioned and can fit two people with luggage but wouldnt suggest more and the wait for the elevator is longer than average, but again the walk down is great excercise and your on vacation so was never in a rush, and never bother us at all.
Suggestions: would love an area for dining in with your fabulous view....... rooftop ;) (hopefully in the future)
Would love to visit again and we would suggest staying for any single or couple travellers who would like to be apart of the city instead of just visting. ENJOY!
"There's not a lot of eating space in the kitchen", that's absolutely true since the kitchen is small (see the photos), but we have a foldable table there that accommodates two people when folded and can allow up to three people when fully opened. If you need more space, you can use another (bigger) foldable table and have lunch in the living room. :-)
Great place, centrally located and nice clean room! Jaume is from Barcelona, speaks very good English and is easy to talk to. Besides, he can help you around in Barca.
We had a lovely stay with Joan Pere and Jaume. Jaume was very helpful and filled with recommendations for local restaurants and cafes in Barcelona. We went to one of his recommendations twice! You cannot beat their location for visiting the amazing Gaudi Church. The location is truely a gem! A friend of ours came to visit and stayed in their other room adjacent to ours. This was wonderful and convenient since she was right next door. Jaume was very understanding when we came in late one night.
Jaume keeps the home very clean, which made everything more comfortable. He showed me how to make coffee in the morning. I actually didn't use his Italian coffee maker, but I am going to get one now that I'm back home.
Thanks Jaume and Joan Pere. We had a great time!
Joan Pere & Jaumeは、私のバルセロナ旅行をさらに素晴らしいものにしてくれました。
If your trip to Barcelona is, like mine, a pilgrimage to sites designed by Antoni Gaudi, there is no better place to stay than this room overlooking the spires of the Sagrada Familia basilica as it continues to grow. The apartment is small but somehow not crowded, even with two other guests in the neighboring room. Hosts Jaume and Joan Pere were warm and helpful, from our earliest email exchanges, including the great video portrait they sent of their community summer Festes de Gràcia, from Jaume's passionate description of the places he loves, to learning that the walls were cleverly painted by Joan Pere (Miro-inspired?).
The bed was super comfortable, everything was clean, wi-fi was a plus, Jaume provided a Metro map and directions and printed out my airline boarding pass. The guys even took us up to the rooftop for a 360 view of Barcelona at night.
Do I have any reservations? Only one - unlike some of the other reviewers on this site, I wasn't offered any meals - but I didn't ask to share food - that would have been nice, as would getting to know them a bit more. Prospective visitors should be aware that the hosts turn in and wake early and may request you to be quiet on weeknights. That was fine for me.
I'm so grateful for this 3-day trip which fulfilled a lifetime dream of seeing Gaudi's work in person, with an unexpected bonus of the Miro museum. And there's so much more that I didn't get a chance to explore - I hope to return. And see how the Sagrada Familia has progressed...
Thanks, J & JP!
Jaume and Joan Pere were amazing hosts! My boyfriend and I stayed at their place for 9 days. We arrived a little earlier than expected and Jaume had not received our txt, but it was no problem. He also sat us down and asked what we would like to see in Barcelona. He mapped out in great detail some sites and activities for us to do which was so helpful and informative. Joan Pere and Jaume were so communicative leading up to our arrival and during our stay. The apartment is situated in the lovely and safe area of La Sagrada Familia. The apartment is very central with an excellent metro station less than 5 mins walk. There is also a lovely bakery on the corner where we ate one too many croissants. We were able to reach most destinations within 15 mins by metro even changing lines. GREAT LOCATION! Apartment was very clean and had a lot of character. Our bedroom was very spacious and the bed SUPER comfortable. We slept with the window open every night and never saw one mosquito. Also we had an amazing view of La Sagrada Familia from our room, AMAZING! We used the kitchen a lot and found it had everything we needed. Bathroom was very clean. Overall we had a great time with these guys, watching movies and chatting about all sorts of topics. We learnt a lot from Jaume about Barcelona and topics in general. This is our 9th airbnb place and we'd say it was one of the best! We HIGHLY recommend to travellers looking for a safe and comfortable place to stay whilst in Barcelona. Thanks again!!!
Thank you very much!
