About This Listing
A Farm Stay in a quaint 2 bedroom on an old trout farm and nursery. The property is on 20 fenced acres about 8 miles south of Durango.
The apartment has a full kitchen, one queen bed and one double bed and one bath with a shower. The apartment is comfortably suited for 4.
You have a beautiful view of the mountains from your front porch and deck. We are surrounded by 90 yr. old cottonwoods, about 500 fruit trees, large vegetable gardens, numerous ponds and a small stream that runs through.
Spend a few days or more on a small farm in a beautiful location with plenty of space to relax. Ponds, cows, sheep / lambs, goats, chickens, a dog and 2 cats. We even have a horse barn with 3 stalls. It's like living in a park only better. Just 15-20 minutes to downtown Durango and all it has to offer: great restaurant, galleries, Durango Art Center, theaters and much more.
Due to so many requests to bring well behaved dogs we are now accepting them but please ask so that we can discuss it.
Our guests have access to all 20 acres including 2 fire pits, outside eating / grilling area, a tire swing and hammock and beautiful views from their front porch.

Very quiet neighborhood in a rural setting but not far from Durango.
Being in a rural setting 15 minutes from town our guest will need their own transportation.

Staying at the Trout Farm was a lovely, great experience. The grounds were beautiful, the location fantastic-in the country but close enough to Durango to go out for dinner. The house is very clean and decorated with quality, nice, furnishings and a great kitchen. I only wish we had more time and more family with us to enjoy the huge greenhouse/dining room space! Would definitely come back here. And Vana was very nice and helpful, even gave me a tour around the grounds and talked about the life of a nursery farmer. We had an awesome time here.
This is a beautiful farm with wonderful hosts to stay at! Close to place to do day trips around the Durango/Four Corners area. Very comfortable beds and easy kitchen to use. We loved walking the grounds, seeing the cows and chickens, and being around their friendly dog and cat. I recommend this place if you need a break from a busy life. Great little peaceful getaway!
Amazing place. Very relaxing and the hosts were great. Felt very private and the grounds are beautiful. Fun to walk around the property. Looking forward to going back.
Great retreat and great host! Our boys loved exploring the farm. Our family enjoyed staying here very much!
We stayed at the Bunky, just separate from Vana and Doug's house. It was beautiful! Stunning scenery and a well stocked, pretty cabin to stay in - complete with gas BBQ outside and large living spaces to relax in. It was an ideal base to get to Mesa Verde around 50 mins away by car (a beautiful drive). We loved our stay here!

About the Host, Vana
I grew up in Utah but have lived most of my life in Colorado. My husband and I retired in 2009 from the nursery business he started in 1983. We are both very active first with the farm and then with traveling the world in the winter months. I love biking, hiking, running and yoga. I have a passion for interior design and visual presentation. Before joining my husband in the nursery business I had 8 great years at Polo Ralph Lauren in the Creative Services department.
Because we travel so often to so many different countries we appreciate hospitality and great customer service. France is one of our favorite places to visit and can dispel the rumor the French are rude. Quite the contrary we have found them to be very friendly and have gone out of their way to be helpful.
We travel very freely with not a lot of plans or reservations. We love being spontaneous. Because of our style of travel I think you will find us very easy to get along with and will enjoy your Farm Stay with us. It you are the type who needs something to do you can always help in the gardens.
