In the iconic Box Works development it is a very large (c 1100 sq ft) architect-designed loft apartment in Castlefield, Manchester city centre.
It has a great feeling of space, guests often comment. It's also very close to Man Utd football ground, and a little further on, Old Trafford cricket ground. The Manchester City ground is easily accessible by metro (light rail). Walking distance to all the main attractions (Manchester isn't a big city, so nowhere is that far away from anywhere else).
The first of award-winning developers Urban Splash' 'design your own' apartment initiatives, every one of Box Works' apartments is completely unique. My apartment was designed by Urban Splash' own in-house architects.
In a converted warehouse with original industrial architecture (original brickwork and girders etc.) and modern fitments - including free-standing cubic glass bathroom. Your bedroom has a balcony overlooking the canal inlet with water lillies (!).
I have used the apartment for supper clubs (pop-up dining)*, so the kitchen is equipped pretty much to catering standards with three ovens and plenty of pans, crockery and cutlery, dishwasher, fridge etc.
Cable TV and wifi. 50" plasma tv, radio and docking station for playing music from iphones/ipads etc
The apartment is basically at the edge of the city centre, and all parts of the city are easily accessible by the canal towpath which passes directly in front of the apartment. Metro/mainline train stations are within 10 minutes' walk for connections to Manchester airport and rail travel.
Castlefield is one of the oldest parts of Manchester with a number of well-preserved Roman remains just a short distance from the apartment. The Museum of Science and Industry is also close by. There are bars and cafes within a 100 metres, and within 5 minutes' walk any number of cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants.
You walk pretty much out of the apartment into the city, but when you want peace and quiet after a long day (and nights!), enjoying Manchester, the apartment provides as much peace and seclusion as you might need.
Secure parking for up to 2 cars is available in The Box Works underground car park for £10 per car per day, by prior arrangement.
This was our first visit to Phil's loft style apartment, stayed for 2 nights. The apartment is in an ideal spot, close to everything you will need. The apartment was clean, and very comfortable. Phil is very helpful, and polite.
I would defiantly stay here again, and recommend to anyone wanting to stay over for a night or two of fun in MCR.
Absolutely amazing flat just by the canal. Went for work but almost felt like a little holiday :)
Unfortunately did not get the chance to meet Phil but his partner helped me through everystep and Phil has been very responsive to all of my requests!
Phil was a great host and an excellent communicator which made it a delightful experience for me. Many thanks
We were met on arrival as promised. Given a tour of the apartment, explanations on how everything worked and made to feel very welcome. Great location, Castlefield center is a 10 minute walk along the canal towpath. The apartment help to make the weekend very enjoyable.
Stayed in Phil's beautiful flat for 3 night. It had everything we needed and excellent facilities for cooking.
The area was very safe and secure. A lovely walk along the canal into town.
Would definitely stay here again.
Thanks Phil! X
Had a wonderful week staying with Phil in his fully equipped apartment, which was my home away from home for a few days. Phil was fantastic from the moment we met, and was even kind enough to pick me up at the train station when I arrived. I travel all over Europe twice a year for 2 months at a time, and stay a week in Manchester each time, therefore it is imperative that I find places where I can truly unwind and relax and have the feeling of home. With Phil I found exactly that, and am very grateful for his thoughtfulness in all the little things he offered to make my stay special. He even gave me coupons to enjoy a delicious meal at a pub/ restaurant called the Wharf ( a FABULOUS place that is only a 5 minute walk from Phil's place) There is a convenience store and restaurant literally one minute away also. I would highly recommend staying with Phil
Good location in the midst of the Castlefield canals just down from Deansgate station. Phil was a sound bloke and gave me some tips about the area. Good open plan loft and really comfortable bed. Recommended.
nice & very interesting place. Phil was a responsive & hospitable host. Have to walk quite a bit to reach the centre though, but scenic route by the canal if you don't mind walking.
We had a really nice stay with Phil. The room was clean and had a nice bed. The kichen is fully equiped with everything you need and Phil was very kind and helpful. We stayed for 1 night but would mind staying more the next time.
I had a nice stay in Phil's flat. Have been there for just one day and night and had only a short chat with Phil, but enjoyed it very much. He is friendly and relaxed person and his flat is modern furnished and a has been a good located base for me in Manchester. Architecture fans will love it. It's a ten minutes walk to the metrolink and trains to the airport. If you like very quite places during night you should use earplugs due to the highway next to the house. But for me it wasn't a problem at all.
