IKAL BUNGALOWS, the most spacious of 3 private eco luxury Jungle Bungalows located within the newly developing jungle area, La Valeta, near downtown TULUM.
Our name IKAL means "Spirit." We honor the MAYAN land and culture.
Fully equipped private villa with all the services and commodities for those who wish to experience life surrounded by TULUM's beautiful nature
The space

IKAL Bungalows is the essence of Tulum living and the perfect vacation getaway. Experience the authentic Tulum lifestyle in our traditional mayan palapa style overlooking the Mayan jungle.
A fusion of modern minimalist design with spacious living areas, floor to ceiling windows, connecting the outdoors while being in comfort of indoor space. Terraces with outdoor seating are a perfect place to relax and have your morning coffee.
Designed in the authentic Tulum style with polished concrete floors, built in furniture and shelves. All interior decor is locally made by Mayan artisans giving IKAL it's authentic Tulum vibe.
The property has a central shared swimming pool and garden area, featuring a beautiful hard wood staircases leading to separate paths to each private bungalow.
Bungalow details:
IKAL HA meaning the spirit of water, the most sacred element for the ancient Mayan civilization. HA is the first of the three units that comprise this jungle oasis. Featuring double-height ceilings in the traditional Mayan palapa architecture with garden & pool view and huge windows that offer that outdoor feeling we intended to create. Open floor plan with day lounge in living area with equipped kitchen area downstairs and king bedroom loft upstairs. Private bathroom with shower and garden bathtub downstairs. Sleeps 4.
IKAL XEL the Mayan meaning for "Rainbow". A beautiful one floor garden apartment, Floor to ceiling sliding windows on living room and bedroom, private backyard and outdoor garden bathtub. Beautiful garden views living area and master bedroom, with indoor and outdoor hammock lounging areas. Open plan equipped kitchen/living area. Sleeps 3.
IKAL KA'AN, meaning spirit of the Sky in Mayan. Access this beautiful Sky penthouse from handcrafted wooden stair and skybridge terrace. Featuring traditional Mayan made double height palapa ceilings giving the whole space a sense of amplitude in living areas and upstair bedroom loft space. It features a fully equipped kitchen, design bathroom & shower on the 1st floor. The bedroom loft on 2nd floor has jungle view and garden views with wrap around terrace.
Every private bungalow features AC, organic bath products, linens.
Things to be aware and consider before you book:
- We have full time security on site at all times
- We are located in the jungle in the newest part of Tulum town. The newly opened beach road, Kukulcan, is right around the corner and will bring you to the beach in 10 minutes by car or 25 by bike. We have bikes for rent at $9 USD/Day
- The road to our property is a dirt road and sometimes has bumps and holes due to rain. The road is very manageable with any type of car, moped, or bike, and only adds to the adventure! :)
-Renting a car is recommended but we have several taxi services and bikes for rent, but please keep in mind that taxis in Tulum are very expensive.
-We have Air Conditioners in each bedroom which are intended to cool our guests while they are sleeping, not to cool the entire apartment. We have designed the apartment to cool with fans and airflow, not by running the AC full blast all day. This was by design to minimize our impact on the world and meet our sustainability values and goals.
- We have high speed fiber optic wifi at 50 mbps, but at times can be spotty due to wind and /or technical issues with the main tower, which we can not control. the majority of the time it works perfectly fine
- The magical city of Tulum is very popular and in constant development due to its current demand. The entire town is under construction in every neighborhood and therefore, there is sometimes construction noise from simple hammers to power tools. Construction around the city happens from 9 am - 4 pm Monday - Friday
- Tulum experiences occassional power outages due to development. When the power is out, there is no access to running water, lights, wifi, or AC. These outages last usually from 1 - 2 hours and are out of our control.

Access is unlimited for all guests in their own space as well as in common areas and swimming pool without compromising the privacy and/or comfort of other guests. There are two designated private parking spots for the property as well as additional street parking. There are cafes, restaurants, yoga studios, and groceries store within a 10 minute walk of the property.

Daily cleaning service is available upon request at an extra charge.

IKAL is located in an area appropriately named “HEAVEN”, near the beautiful HOLISTIKA yoga resort at the south end of town. The is the newest jungle region of the town of Tulum next to the neighborhood of “La Veleta” off highway 307.
Access to the property is partly dirt roads, with some potholes and rocks, but manageable for any type of car, bike, or scooter.
Located approximately 5 minute drive to downtown Tulum and 10 minute drive down the new beach road to the beach. 15 minute drive to Grand Cenote. 10 Minute drive to Kaan Lum Lagoon.
Access to the property is partly dirt roads, with some potholes and rocks, but manageable for any type of car, bike, or scooter.
